Mixed Mobotix Axis Enviro - App that supports MxPEG & H264?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have a mixed Mobotix / Axis environment at home. I used to be strictly Axis - but a co-worker convinced me to try Mobotix, so I am now the owner of 3 Q25s. I love the way I can review the event recordings stored on the Q25's MicroSD Card directly from the Mobotix app. Something I could never setup (or figure out) with my Axis cameras.

That being said, I don't think I can dump my Axis 5512-E's just yet, as there is not optical zoom solution for Mobotix. I still find the Axis cameras heads and shoulders above Mobotix for image quality/optical zoom/etc.

I have a specific requirement to use H.264 or MxPEG when streaming to my iPhone (carrier bandwidth constraints). If I use MJPEG I will blow through my cap in an hour! For my Axis camera's I have been using LiveCamsPro which is great (supports Audio, PTZ and H.264 straight from the app). For my Mobotix cams I am using QCamPro. Again, works great - good compressed video/audio with Mobotix's MxPEG.

Does anyone know if there is an app that supports BOTH MxPEG for Mobotix and H.264 for Axis Camears? Both QCamsPro and LiveCamsPro will support both cameras but with limitations (QCams will only support MJPEG for the Axis cams, and no audio ... and viceversa for LiveCamsPro).

Any help is appreciated.

PS - Love the forum. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Have you looked at QCam Pro? I'm not positive, but I think it might do what you want.

Yup - it is great for Mobotix (using it now) ... but doesn't support H264 or audio for Axis cameras.

MOBOTIX recently announced their soon to be released software platform, MxMultiViewer, will allow the integration of ONVIF and H.264 IP video devices. This means both MOBOTIX and third party IP cameras can be integrated under one platform (for both OS X and Windows). The word is MOBOTIX have plans to also introduce the ONVIF/H.264 integration within an iOS app, which will resolve the OP's requirement.

There has been no official launch date from MOBOTIX for MxMultiViewer but a beta version has already been made available, which indicates it's not too far off.
