advice with remote viewing a eneo H.264

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Sorry if this have been covered or if I am in the wrong section but I am well and truly stuck, I cant fin the answers I need and have came to ask for some advice.

first I will give some details of the set up.

I have a sky broad band connection in the living room via the Sky Hub (SR102).

The router is connected via an Ethernet cable to a net gear 8 port gigabit switch gs208. from the switch I have a number of devices that all share the same internet connection including an eneo h.264 dvr system.

The problem is that I can not access footage from either mobile apps or the ras+ software for windows. I can however access and view (not review) the footage via the web browser on the eneo web server when I enter the external isp in the following format using the port number that I set on the dvr set up screen .... http://123.123.123.123:1234. To be honest this would be fine if I could then search the video but there is no search option on the eneo interface.

What I have tried and how I have set it up

At first I Used the "auto port" function on the dvr set up page and this should in theory set up the ports automatically in the routers fire wall. By default it set up the rtsp service port was set at either 554 or 544 (Not at the dvr as I type this) and the web server port was 8080. DHCP was checked as was the web service.

My ip address generated by the set up page was 192.168.0.100

gateway 192.168.0.1

subnet mask 255.255.255.0

1st dns server 192.168.0.1

2nd dns server 0.0.0.0

I have then tried to connect to a number of iphone and android apps including ipolis and ras mobile but neither of them can connect.

I then thought this may be an issue with port forwarding so I added two services on the sky router settings for port 544/554 and one for port 8080 and selected both tcp and dhc?. Not sure if dhc was the correct protocol but it was the only other one listed. I also added two server rules for my new services and set them to always allow and forward to lan service 192.168.0.100.

I honestly don't know what I am missing and if any one can put me in the right

direction I would be very grateful.

Thank you.

Cus

Before creating rules or port forwarding in the sky router you need to reserve the LAN address of your DVR 192.168.0.100.

The DVR is (recognized by it's mac number) and then it doesn't matter if if the static or DHCP setting is selected or not.

The router will reserve the address 192.168.0.100 for the DVR and only assign it to that DVR.

Failure to perform this step leads to all sorts of failures with the sky routers.

Try canyouseem or yougetsignal to test if the ports are indeed open

Sorry but I am not sure what apps or client software works with Eneo as I've never set up one of their DVRs

Thank you !!!!.

I did not know that I would have to do that. I have found a guide for doing this if it helps any one else in my situation in the future.

http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/content/180-ip-address-reservation.html

I will try to do this tonight. I did also check the ports with canyouseeme.org and they were both showing as open. Sorry I missed that out from the first post.

I appreciate that you cant comment on client software or apps but I think I should at least be able to use the windows ras+ exe as that is linked from the eneo website.

Thank you very much once again Numb-Nuts

I hope it saves you some extra complications in future, you have enough on your plate without added complications.

Build on solid foundations and you will locate faults easier when they appear.

You will eliminate IP conflicts as a potential source of troubl by doing this.

unfortunatly this did not resolve the problem.

I deleted the port forwarding and service rules that I had previously set up on the router and re booted the dvr and re set to factory settings. This caused the dvrs ip address to change so I unticked the dhcp and left the ip address as it was now 192.168.0.24. the rtsp port reverted to 554 and the web service port is also back to 8080.

I added the ip reservation for the device with the mac address from the dvr syatem

LAN TCP/IP Setup

IP Address: .192.168.0.1

IP Subnet Mask: .225 .225 .225.0

Use Router as DHCP Server (checked)

Starting IP Address: .192.168.0.2

Ending IP Address: .192.168.0.254

Address Reservation

# IP Address Device Name MAC Address

1 192.168.0.24 DVRSYSTEM 00:11:5f:0a:c4:63

and then also added two new fire wall rules to send to the lan server

1 rtsp ALLOW always 192.168.0.24 (554:554)

2 web ALLOW always 192.168.0.24 (8080:8080)

I also ckicked on the auto port buttons for bothe the rtsp service port and the web service port on the dvr set up screen and they both show as being sucsessfull.

Ive checked my ports with caniseeyou and both port 8080 and 554 are not being blocked.

Unfortunatly I appear to be in the same situation. I can view the live footage from the web viewer but can not search it and can not connect with ras plus or any ot the mobile apps. to be honest I am not that bothered about using a mobile off the network but want to use a lap top to review footage while connected to the wifi network.

Well I kind of came to a solution!.

I was looking to see if I could find a firmware update for the DVr and found a copy of a data sheet that stated the DVr did not have a remote search function.

I was admitting defeat thinking that the system just didn't install it. The person I was trying to set it up for asked for a favorate icon on the desk top. For ease I decided to do this via Internet explorer rather than the default browser fire fox.

Tappy tappy tappy logged in to the web server and boom Internet explorer of all of the browsers pulls up the search function!.

I still can't use a mobile device but this is enough for my needs. I just want to say thanks again for your help and I hope my experiance can help others in the same situation as I would never have thought to try another web browser lol
