We have a client who initially wanted a Hybrid system but this was going to be a bit difficult due to contract obligations. They have two sites, Site 1 Site 2 They would like to monitor Site 2 from Site 1 on a TV screen in the Office. They have decided to go the IP Camera route at Site 2. They also want to control the Cameras at Site 2. I was thinking of getting a NVR and placing that on Site 1 attached to the TV, and connecting the Cameras via the internet via VPN. Just to add the second site will have a new Broadband installed just for the Cameras. Lebeter 0 Posted April 1, 2015 are they putting cameras at site 1 also or just purely monitoring site 2? if just cameras at site 2, i would put the NVR at site 2 and just setup a basic PC with a browser at site 1 connected to the TV to view the web app streaming from site 2's NVR. Much less bandwidth over the internet or if its the same broadband carrier between sites, it stays on their backbone. Trying to send uncompressed video across over VPN between the sites just sounds like a terrible and expensive challenge. you can still do the VPN connection between the sites to view the web compressed stream and depending on NVR you can control any ptz etc within the web streaming app if that is what you mean by them needing to control the cameras at the 2nd site. Andyd358 0 Posted April 8, 2015 Thanks for your reply. The customer has given me a bit more info on what they require. Site 1 (which already has cctv in stalled) is the main site. Site 2 is where they prep cars for sale and this is what they want to monitor, basically to kame sure no one is skiving. They want a TV mounted on the wall in the office just to monitor the two cameras. One camera is an indoor cam and one outdoor. Both need to PTZ and controllable from Site 1. They will have FFTC installed at Site 2 shortly so bandwidth is not going to be an issue. So still thinking NVR attached to TV on site one and remotely connecting the Cameras at site 2 over a VPN.
