Color Problem.

Recommended Posts

What type of camera I need to use for medical monitoring purposes? I can not get best color qualities with the average outstanding cameras in the market. Especially, red color is the main problem. As you turn on the camera, the colors come out perfectly bright and shining, but within the 2-3 seconds it turns to brown to dark red and looses its shine. If you turn it off and on again, it happens the same. What I expect from the camera is to preserve its color brightness, sharpness and quality during its whole performance. Which camera brands and/or cameras with those specifications will provide this performance please?

Hi devsac,

Perhaps you could provide a bit more information?

What is the application (operating theatre, endoscopy, etc. ...) ?

What type of lighting are you using?

What cameras have you tried so far?

The problem of 'locking' the colour balance, may simply be down to the type of camera you are using. Most high end medical applications use 3-CCD chip cameras, which cost a small fortune, but you can manually set the Colour Balance, and then you don't get the colour shift problems you are describing.

If you have a mixture of lighting sources (different colour temperatures), it may be worth trying a colour correction filter over the lens.

Perhaps if you can provide some more background information, others will be able to come up with some suggestions.

Thank You,

I really don't exactly know what the medical equipment is for , but the camera is monitoring human eye ( there is a special close-up lens of the equipment).

I have tried with 5-6 different cameras with specs around 1/3¨CCD , 420 - 480 TVL , 48db , 0.3-1 Lux.

There is a 50W lamp on the equipment , it is quite bright.

Exactly what brands have you been using? Generally speaking you should get some rock solid color pictures with Sanyo, Sony, Panasonic. Taiwanese brand cameras or even some Korean can have color fluctuations depending on switch settings and lighting conditions.
