Traffic camera maybe? It does not seem to be a PTZ camera, seeing it points down, it could be a camera for counting cars.

I doubt they will. It has been this way for as long as I can remember. Nothing to fix when there is nothing broken...

You can set it to transparent on the config. I agree that it should not be so hard to make a setting on the config so the white/black changes can be disabled, but it has never bothered me too much.

You still need to decode the stream. Your monitor won't change that. Of course you do, that's why I would rather use a 1080p secondary stream, than 4K main stream.

I am pretty sure this would work fine. Maybe, just maybe, you would need to use RS485 for the PTZ, but I do think it should work out of the box with ONVIF.

So the need for double and triple stream cameras. I do not even have a 4k display, so I would not even have the need to decode one single 4K stream, not to say several of them... But a secondary stream of 1080p, and even a third stream for mobile viewing would be nice.

That probably means that you have open/forwarded the data/mobile port, but not the web port...

Hikvision 7616HI-ST (16ch analog WD1@25fps, 16ch IP) Dahua DVR1604HF-U (16ch analog D1@25fps, 16ch IP) I am sure there is something newer from Dahua, like 7816, but this is the latest hybrid from Dahua I have used (it is not a new unit). I would recommend the 7616.

Try iVMS-4200 for playback from a computer. For playback it is way better than using he web interface.

Try it on a place with more light; or take a flashlight, and point it to the camera to see if it changes to color mode.

I am sure there can be many answers hgere, but I work mainly with Hikvision and Dahua systems. Nice quality for the price you pay. They both do have hybrid systems.

Then what do you have? Hikvision analog cameras? Hikvision DVR? If you expect someone to help you it would be nice to give some info, and not just let people take wild guesses... The solution above also works with Hikvision DVRs and NVRs.

You need to know first what program you have to use on your iPod to view the cameras. Check your DVR documentation, CD if it came with any, or ask whoever you bought it from.

Go for a hybrid system. You should be able to get a system that supports something like 16 analog channels + 16 IP megapixel channels.

Are they IP cameras? I think all modern Hikvision firmwares have an URL from where you can get a snapshot of the camera easily just with an http call.
