VideoViewer login problen under Win7 x64

Finally the problem is solved. The firewall I used, Bitdefender internet Security 2012 didn't really stop when I shut down firewall. Until now, every version of BitDefender I used stops when I select command 'Firewall off'. Now, the version 2012 seems to be active even I choose to stop Firewall. I discovered this when I captured the local network trafic... sometimes there were some pings on DVR address from BitDef firewall whet it was stopped. So... booted in safe mode, disabled bitdefender services, restart and all the things are ok... The topic can be closed...

VideoViewer login problen under Win7 x64

VideoViewer works OK under windows 'safe mode with networking' ... both versions 0.1.5.6, 0.1.8.3. Checked twice all security settings but I Still have no success to run it under normal login...
  3. Few days ago I upgraded my computer so I decided to install Windows 7 x64 SP1 instead of Vista x64 which I had before. Since then I cannot connect anymore to my AVC760, I mean I cannot login to VideoViewer. What I did: - all router and DVR settings remains untouched (portforwarding, user, pass and so on). - firewalls are off, antivirus off. - logged to windows with admin rights. - UAC disabled. - installed multiple versions of VV (0.0.9.9, 0.1.5.6, 0.1.8.3). - ping on address DVR returns 1ms so it responds to ping. - when I search DVR on VideoViewer it shows up the DVR address. I set user and password, I press 'Get Type' button and it gets '4ch dvr' response. But when I tried to login it shows up 'Login Failed'. - run VideoViewer under various compatibility settings and allways run as admin. - checked setup log: all files are OK, libraries were registered OK. - I can see DVR from IE but only with QuickTime plugin but NOT with MPEG4. - did not tried to run VideoViewer under windows 'safe mode' (I will do it tonight when I will be home) All login attempts leaves no trace on DVR. (checked under IE inteface) Do you have any ideea what should I do further? I lose my patience...

AVTECH 761ASV - Email and FTP issues

scorpion: With actual firmware NO... ...it would be possible but the situation will become complicated. I supose that the DVR uses a single (level of) cache memory to process the video signal. That cache it would be used in two ways: first one for video streaming (html remote view) and second for save file on HDD. These two ways seems to be totally separated: if an alarm triggers it cannot send that cache or a portion of it to FTP or email (it's difficult due to MPEG compression). I think the old version can do this due to posibility to isolate JPEGs in video cache. So the DVR sends email (or FTP) containing only markers to that alarm time, which means you can access the event on HDD and not using video cache memory. The files already stored on HDD can be procesed in order to extract some portion of it (alarm event). Maybe you will ask: why don't DVR send or attach a file saved on HDD which contain the alarm event triggered? I think the answer is simple: the file is encoded in a proprietary format and you cannot decode it without proper sofware. This means you can view it only with VideoViewer player: but if you need VV, you can backup files stored on HDD => so there is no need to atach files, it's no use. ... but still remains a question: if you can access a portion of recording (stored on HDD) why don't the DVR make the thing when alarm triggers? Like this way: when an alarm triggers, the DVR stores marker times, finish to process the "video cache memory", saves the files on HDD and after that recreate a file which contains the alarm portion and send it by email or FTP?! It is capable to do this!!! When you open the email attachement the DVR do all that things but on your request... but to do itself it needs more hardware resources. So I think that the new versions of fw will only correct bugs and will never offers these kind of capabilities.

    Network Problems with a DVR

Do not forward port 80 in your router and also do not use porttriggering. You only need to forward the others port than 80. When you test DVR in your LAN you don'n need to make some settings in router. When you access it from WAN and on different port then you must use portforwarding, and also set the router (if applicable) to permit DVR to act as a HTTP server (WAN requests).

AVTECH 761ASV - Email and FTP issues

I think it's time to clarify some things. I speak of my model AVC760 but I think it is applicable to other models. The new model is from generic family 760AS even if on their site is presented as 760 simple. I think after they introduced USB and SATA capability they chage the hardware and also changed the firmware. In that case it is very possible that some older functions are not be included in this new firmware. The worst thing is that it is impossible to downgrade the firmware (because of different boards). It is a stupid thing that a new device has the same name with the new one, but I think it's clear that the new model has a different board because it is MPEG4 and the older one is MJPEG. Maybe it is an explanation for not including JPEGs attached in emails. Compression method is different. MJPEG compression supose to compress each frame as a jpeg image -> after that it is simple to attach images to email. MPEG4 compression works different, it doesn't not stores compressed jpegs but differences between images/frames, so it is not that simple to isolate in real time same jpegs (who plays with video editing knows what I'm saying). Of course, you can capture an image from video stream but that supose to have a little bit more computing power to move in real time. I don'n know why it can takes a snapshot in VideoViewer and save it locally and it can not take a(some) snapshot and attach it to email?!?!? Is it a problem of hardware (insufficient computing power, memory) or a lack of professionalism in building a firmware for doing that?!?!??

AVTECH 761ASV - Email and FTP issues

This link is from original CD: www dot surveillance-download dot com/user/setup.exe and is VideoViewer version 1.0.7.0 It seems that the new models of AVC760/761 has a firmware of type: App_img4.bin and the older ones has a firmware consisting of 4-5 files:kernel.bin, html.bin .... The question is: the new firmware is compiled in another form (1 file) or is it rewritten? Because if it is rewritten we may not find this functionality on new version.

    AVTech Website changes

    1. No, it is not the resellers responsability unless avtech specifies that (I didn't see that on their site). They should choose the reseller companies and service should become mandatory for them but avtech must publish a list of these resellers. 1.1 If avtech would take one million calls per day this would mean that they are in big trouble (speaking of reliability) 2. Upgrading firmware is not a scary thing. It is easy if you make a device which is easily to upgrade: firmware identifier not to complicated, device selfprotected to wrong firmware, keep public the history of versions ans so on. If you give much information to users the rate of failure will be very low (in situations of power loss during upgrading...). But I think avtech/resellers thinks different: no need to upgrade (no headache) and service means replace device (it's cheaper than service team) 3. Congratulations for your site... It's a gold mine...

AVTECH 761ASV - Email and FTP issues

Thank you very much DaveM for your reply but my problem is not to send emails, the problem is to send emails with images attachements. I bought this AVC 760 few month ago from one of resellers of Romania. It is a new one not second hand... Maybe it is a model with a new firmware because I cannot connect to it with Video Server E (I tried few versions from scorpion site) but only with VideoViewer which is on the CD that came with dvr. I have installed 3 versions (the last is 0.1.0.7) of software VV but none have the magical option number of pics as I have seen on other documentation for older models. I repeat: sending emails works fine, attachement is a problem here. ... and it is not a network problem.

AVTECH 761ASV - Email and FTP issues

@scorpion I'm not speaking about one specific situation (the bar example). There may be much more examples of that kind. Even if this kind of this devices are used in many ways (industrial, traffic) most of common people uses DVR for security reasons. The DVR itself is builted around this ideea: motion detection, alarm trigger, email alarms, external alarm triggers. These entry level of DVRs (in my case is AVC 760) are dedicated to those people who have not the resources to build a proffesional surveillance system. The DVR itself, no matter the level, MUST meet a minimum requirements in the security area and one of these things is to protect the informations. Saving information over the network (if the DVR is capable) must be done by sending email with images, transfer FTP the videos sequences, but not time markers. In fact, this DVR send time markers which can be useless in some (and I think are too many) situations. On the other hand I'm upset because I bought a device that do not meet the specifications. Quote avtech site: will send alerts with images. In my country a company who's cheating the clients is against the law! And I hope the law is the same in Asia. ... and no... there are not portforwarding issues; here we talk about emails and FTP transfers which are made on well known ports, in that case you not need the portforwarding. Maybe some remote servers may reject your attachements or ISP provider may filter the traffic but it is not my case and I'm very sure of that.

AVTECH 761ASV - Email and FTP issues

Does anyone find a way send an image by email/FTP? It seems that user manual (AVTECH) lies when it says that it can send images... Maybe an older version of fw ?!?!? I prefer to downgrade the firmware for that thing (not to say that if I should know this I'll never buy it). To send an attachement in that way is the stupid thing I met until now. If the DVR are stolen/broken/overwrittten HDD, then the email means nothing. If a thief enters into my house and find the DVR (very easy if he will track cameras cables) the only solution is to find myself(or police) the thief and after that to retrieve the images... Excuse my bad english

AVTECH 760 and JPG image via email

I think i have some answers for you: 1) You cannot redirect port 25 to port 26. This redirection works only for remote users who are requesting Web or FTP services through the WAN and are directed to local servers in the LAN. So, it cannot work for SMTP transfer... 2)You cannot setup gmail account because gmail requires SSL connection (means secured/encripted). AVC760 work only on unsecured connection and only on 25 port for SMTP. Conclusion: AVC760 works ONLY with servers who permit: -access SMTP without POP3. -unsecured connection -only port 25. Still trying to send images via email...
