  1. Bump.

Please help, I can't see the point in buying HD cameras if my DVR cannot record at least 10-15 fps.

The reason I need cctv is to use it as evidence and so the record rate fps of "all" channels is key.

Great quality live viewing is pointless if not recorded properly.

I am thinking the Hikvision is garbage and nobody wants to slur it so please could somebody pm me if this is the case.

I did email Hik but they did not respond to my enquiry. This is also a worrying sign.

  2. Hi guys,

Sorry to only ever ask questions, I wish I knew more.

Can anybody tell me the fps record rate of the channels if all 8 channels are used?

    Cameras are a mix of 1080p, 3MP & 4MP.

The Hikvision has great stats for channel one but for channels 2-8 I cannot understand how few fps I'll be getting.

Here's a link to the unit btw:- http://www.hikvision.com/europe/Products_accessries_10583_i46512.html

  3. Thanks for that Tom,

How much is the Quattro 5 (8 channel) with and without hard drive please?

I have had a response from Acti and the latest firmware does not support ONVIF and so I am awaiting my question as to which DVR would support the existing firmware.

  4. I get it now thanks Tom, so does that mean that when not using my IP cameras, I would also need to run coax in place of the cat 5 to use BNC connectors for replacement of Acti IP cameras on the Quattro?

Is it possible to still use a switch and cat 5 because if I like this unit, I may use one home where I only ran cat 5?

How much is that 4 and 8 channel Quattro 5 anyhow?

  5. Out of interest, how do the current units say your DS-7208HQFI compare to my old AverMedia EH5116Pro that back in the day cost £1,000 ish?

As you can see from the forum I have been selling and installing avermedia for over 15 years. And your link is not even close to some of the avers.

Sorry Tom, I don't mean to be a pain bu my link was an Aver and so I don't understand your reference of my Aver not coming close to some of the Avers.

How does the EH5116PRO compare to the Qvis Quattro 5 in terms of performance?

  6. Thanks for the advice Securame, it sounds a good unit, I'm going to see what Acti say in response to my enquiry before making a decision.

I have definitely chosen to ignore the HIK units within the links and yours does seem a tempting unit.

Toms QVIS units also seems a good offering but Qvis don't seem to have any reviews or web presence anywhere, it is a worrying fact considering they've been around a few years by the look of it.

  7. Thanks for the response guys:)

If you want a Dahua, go with it. It should have no problems with ONVIF cameras (at least the ones that follow ONVIF standards, and I am quite sure ACTI does). But I would recommend to get one of the current 5in1 units, where you can use any channel on whatever system you want (analog, CVI, TVI, AHD, or IP camera).

I would suggest Dahua XVR5108H (up to 12 IP cameras).

Thank you, I shall look into that unit. I didn't really want to go with anything in particular but these units were from the place I bought the Avermedia originally and I trusted their after sales.

Hi. Before you waste money. It is best to call ACTI 2013/14 cameras and not ONVIF and might give you problems.

See if there is a firmware update from 2014 for your cameras.

I see you used to use the avermedia .......can I ask did you buy from a guy called Stuart....... Leeds way ?

I have emailed Acti Tom. The latest update page is linked below and was 2012 but I cannot see reference to ONVIF.

    http://www2.acti.com/product/support/ACM-7411

I purchased the Avermedia from RFConcepts the same crew with the outdated units:)

    https://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/hikvision-ds-7208hqhi-f1-n-8ch-turbo-3-0-dvr-rf3380.html

    Working with:-

    * 3 x IP Acti-7411 cameras https://www.acti.com/product/TCM-7411

    * 6 x Unknown analogue 8 year old analogue that may get upgraded

The Falcon will accept my 3 IP cameras whereas the Hikvision will only accept x2 IP cameras.

So I may be better off dropping the additional IP camera and adding better analog cameras down the line.

  9. I agree that you should look at the new cameras. You will get the warranty (2 years) and the piece of mind of not having to try to get a used camera to work. Its a great camera and works well so there must be a reason they are selling it.

In terms of software, it is free of charge and you can download it directly from mobotix with no license at http://www.mobotix.com:80/eng_GB/content/view/full/1723

    Tom,

thanks again mate. I will still buy from auctio n though, this company is a trusted company, not ebay or the likes.

Funny how these things get stolen though, its just the ultimate in ironic theft!!!

    Marcel.

i think you will be buying an expensive dummy camera. without the ip username / camera id you will not get it to work unless you know the company that installed it. and to have the camera re flashed (can only be done by mobotix) will cost you £350-£400 and with that cost and the auction price you could buy a new one. oh and you will also need the software and licence it would have been on a disk with camera. (free) if this is not with the camera add another £100

Well well well, you guys might just have saved me a lot of money! If mobotix can't be factory reset, you have saved my neck! I will still call mobotix to ask about a reset but will now bid accordingly.

Thank you all very much for your help.

    Marcel.

  10. hi its the same app on both. and its free.just go to itunes and look for averdigi viewer.

    how is it in yorkshire.

    Hi Tom,

Yorkshire is fine thanks. At last the snow has died down and things are getting back to normal. Where abouts are you from?

Cheers for the averdigi ipod app, that worked 1st time i tried. The picture is very poor to say in real life it is a 1.3megapixel camera however.

I am wondering if this can be improved upon by viewing through the safari browser on my ipod touch, but every time i enter my url it correctly identified it as a secure website. So i enter my password and it simply bounces back to the log in page instead of actually logging in.

Am I doing something wrong in simply entering my url? xx.xxx.xxx.xxx instead of xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:80/mobile or something like that? I have tried several permatation but non work and the direct url seems to get me closest by actually showing a secure log in page.

    Any ideas?

    swampie

  11. Hi Tom,

Thanks for the offer of help. My current phone is not capable of connecting so I tried my "Ipod Touch" which recognized the url, asked for login details but then didnt make it to the camera system.

Would the iPod application you offered work with the ipod touch or just the iphone?

Either way, I will appreciate you sending it as I can try a demo Iphone for 14 days if I know I can use for the cameras.

    Regards

    Swampie

  12. Nice shots. I just installed 14 of these myself recently. They have there issues but overall I'm happy with them. I used the EH5216+ for install so we got almost the same setup going. Overall I'm happy with the install. I have mine set to 4 FPS because I can't get 8 with the 5216 when I have 9 on one DVR. When the lights go down a bit I get a lot of motion blur. If someone walks by they are a big blur which is frustrating.

I agree with AK though, bring it down a bit so not to capture the ceiling.

    Thanks AK & 3RDIGLBL,

I will lower the camera away from the ceiling.

3RD, I also get motion blur when people are not stood still, I found that in the web configurator - under host setting - ToS(Type of Service) - If you enable this, you get a lot less motion blur, but in my low level light areas covered, it makes the picture a little too dark. Shame really as it really does improve blur.

  13. What i mean that pix u posted is 800X600 pix

if u can plz post at full res

    Thanks

Well AK I am stuck then, the Camera in web viewer is set to 1280x1024 & on the avermedia setting is N1280x1024 & I wouldn't know how to obtain a higher resolution. I have fiddled with every setting and cant obtain a higher resolution.

Admittedly in the record setting of avermedia eh5116pro, it records in 1280x720 and that I cannot better either as it wont let me adjust that setting. So maybe the snapshot is in the same 1280x720.

    UPDATE:-

I am connecting to my monitor via a VGA cable & setting on the back of the DVR is on VGA, can someone tell me if I can connect using SXGA using the avermedia eh5116pro? is this the problem?
