pdf viewer for manuals/ blue prints. web browsing, movies, word processing, emails, dropbox, cctv demos, note taking, lots of stuff... i'm mobile quite a bit so would like to be able to tether to my samsung epic 4g when necessary
  5. There doesn't seem to be any manuals or cut sheets on your Eastern CCTV magic box... I contacted them and they were not too much help. I'm concerned about the quality for one, and two overload protection. Nowhere on the site does it mean fuses or PTCs... Is each channel individually protected?

    UPS suggestions

I use these for less than 8 channel systems. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0030SL08A/ref=mp_s_a_5?qid=1325087250&sr=8-5 Cheap and reliable w/ surge protection. With 6 analog cams (no IR), 2 IP cams, POE switch and fanless DVR we're able to get about 25-30 minutes of juice. Don't plug things into the battery that don't need backup, like monitors and speakers.

    SMT-190dn + Networking mess

We got er done by disabling DHCP on the Dlink and plugging in the CPE to the LAN side instead of the WAN on the Dlink.

Battlefield 3 VS. Modern Warfare 3

I just got MW3 from my boss for Christmas. I've been so busy I just havnt had time to play though... I was a huge fan of the MW1. I spent many a night talking smack and whooping up on some people online.

    SMT-190dn + Networking mess

Disable DHCP on the Lan side on your Dlink. You need to pull DHCP from only one source on the network: the Linksys. After you do this, make sure you still get internet on devices plugged into your Dlink. You will need to forward ports on your Linksys as this is the first thing in line from your ISP. Also, don't use port 80 as most ISPs block this. I generally use 8080. You'll need to change this on your DVR as well. Also know that with Internet Explorer, you MUST use "http://" in front of the URL if you are using anything but port 80. Example: http://mydvr.dyndns.org:8080/"

Email Alarm and Snapshot via Gmail

Also, it's been a while since I've installed a Windows/ Aver system... but on the Linux Nanos: Gmail port is 25 and you disable encryption... Makes ZERO sense and goes against everything else I know about Gmail's smtp servers... but it's the only thing that works.

Email Alarm and Snapshot via Gmail

    Don't use "@gmail.com". Just "myaccount"
  14. Mainly the playback interface. I'd rather use a the closed platform freebie ware that comes with Vivotek or Acti.
  15. Something is wrong went wrong with your install then... Nothing outdated with Aver's software at all... best bang for the buck on budget jobs, hands down.
  16. Forget the software... it's antiquated. In the wold of CCTV capture cards, the software is propriatary to the card and vise versa Return the NV3000, buy an NV5000 and never look back. Aver supports tons of IP cams, but make sure your cams are on Aver's compatibility list on their site.
  17. It's not going to happen. I've been an Aver dealer/user for a few years now. I have never heard of anyone getting the cards to work with any other software. Aver software is great... has all the mobile apps. The NV3000 card only supports 1 IP cam. If you wanted more, you should have bough the NV5000 card. It will support 4 IP cams. Also with the NV5000 you can purchase cheap expander boards for additional analog channels.

    Avermedia Apps

Aver has released a new version of Android and iPhone apps. Stability is an issue, if it works at all. Multiple servers, multiple phones exhibit these issues. Is anyone else experiencing this? I would like to rollback to previous versions, but don't have copies. I'll speak with Aver's support first thing on Monday.

    Avermedia Apps

Tested the latest Android App... outstanding! Kudos Aver... Reliable. PTZ works. Playback works great too! Although, have yet to get anything above 1.3MP to playback. Possibly a limitation?
  20. Luxriot sucks I'm not just jaded from using big boy toys...
  21. Keep the Aver card and use Aver software. It's not worth the headaches of trying to hack it, I promise.
  22. Update your motherboard BIOS. AFAIK, Aver cards ONLY work with Aver software. What software are you trying to use???
  23. I spent several hours working on one of these for a friend, trying to get it to work. Always with the failed login error... I've concluded it's just a peice of crap and we threw it away.

    microphone advise

I thought he asked for good quality?? Not sure what the Ebay and Amazon references are about... He wanted an improvement, not a cheap equivilant. If he wants an improvement go with Louroe or Crown PZM.
