Other thing to think about is if you require the cameras to offer good images in low light or dark conditions you will need models with infrared...these will be much harder to keep covert and hidden. If you opt for a wired CCTV system and do not worry about the covert aspect then your cameras may also act as a deterrent to any crime and you do not have to worry about going for tiny, hidden cameras that are, perhaps, not likely to offer as good images.....

So you will not have any obstructions at all between each transmitter & the receiver box? Not sure of the US but within the UK the legal frequency is 2.4GHz with a maximum output power of 10mW. There are only four available channels on this frequency reserved fro cameras and having four in one location often causes interference problems - even more likely if you already have any wireless equipment on site.... Go wired whenever possible.

Often it can be more cost effective and offer a better image quality to add external lighting rather than keep opting for more and more infrared....

Hello John Maybe steer clear of Ebay, especially if you are looking for an infrared dome. Lots of the not so high quality IR domes suffer from reflection problems in low light and dark conditions.

If they are standard 2.4GHz analog wireless cameras it is unlikely that you will be able to stop them transmitting completely. They start transmitting as soon as power is received. Easiest way would be to alter the channel on your router - if it has multiple channels you should be able to find a frequency that won't clash. Alternatively ask the supplier to swap the cameras for "wired only" equivalents.

The second varifocal lens, will give you much more detail on objects/subjects further away (22mm being the max setting) from the camera location, however will also give a narrower field of view.

Get yourself a higher resolution (420TVL minimum) CCD camera and test it out on your DVR, this will help you work out of it is a camera or DVR issue.

Agree with Rory. It's highly unlikely that you will achieve good results from an IR cam inside a window looking out. This is why most IR cams tend to be housed in weatherproof enclosures, so that they can be mounted outside.

Not with an analog camera. Perhaps an IP camera....??

System Q stock a decent range of dome cam mounts, you could try them...

EZCCTV are (I think) Geovision distributors in the UK (not sure about Ireland) but it may be that RF buy from them - that would explain the large price difference you mentioned maybe. Pakatak are another pretty good supplier in the UK but again, they don't compete with EZCCTV for Geovision products.

100ft is about 30m right? 5-50mm varifocal seems like overkill maybe... Doesn't look like there is any lighting at all along that driveway? Is it complete darkness?

Agree with Rory - go with a camera overlooking your parking area rather than trying to get a wireless signal out of the vehicle and back to a receiver (too much hassle).

330TVL & 550TVL would give a vastly different quality of image. Bear in mind the recording resolution you will be using as this will decide the quality of your recorded footage.

PTZ can sometimes be pointless for residentials (imo) - unless someone is going to be at the camera control 24/7. It could be that the camera is trained on a certain area when it needs to be covering another point but if nobody is there to do this then you could miss the incident..... You could have the PTZ set to preset automatically but again if it is covering the wrong area at the wrong time.. Maybe better off with 2/3 fixed cameras instead of one, usually pricey, PTZ??

I'm not sure about their other product lines but I didn't think they manufactured the wireless stuff.....it all looks very much like the old ZTV / Goscam 2.4GHz wireless kit.

You guys do not like the products from AV Tech I take it....(I haven't seen or tested any of their wireless kit). Which cameras/DVR models did you test?

Have sampled some of the AV Tech fixed domes and infrared cameras - seems like decent quality kit.
