  1. Hi Guys, Im looking for a caprure card 8 or 16 channel which has good quality capture. My question is are there any cards which support s-video, rgb, component or hdmi inputs? Ive seem HDMI cards but only with a single input only. We have tried a usb type which has a single yellow composite connection and the quality is lacking. Higher the quality the better as screen grabs are needed with little or no distortion to allow showing of clear lettering. Can anyone recommend. Are the Avermedia/geovision cards much of a muchness in quality of capture? Also linux drivers needed.... Cheers

    KPD-616 and ide-sata drive

Hi guys, i got this (AVTech SATA01) and it works flawlessly so far and i have put it through its paces. I would definatly recomment it and we will be purchasing this for all our AVtech IDE systems we have.

    KPD-616 and ide-sata drive

Thanks for the link, Anyone got any experience of these? Im interested as to whether its limited to the drives on the list or whether thats just a "our tested" list. We would probably be looking at WD and seagate drives as we already have plenty. Ta

    KPD-616 and ide-sata drive

Hi, Thanks for the advice. I will give thsi converter a go. If it doesnt work i think we will just go with IDE drives and try to get a 400-500 gig IDE drive for each unit. Are you sure about this converter? The seller said this converter is made by AVTech and it does have AVTech printed on the PCB (can see when zooming into the pic) Cheers for your advice guys

    KPD-616 and ide-sata drive

Cheers for your reply, That is a good idea. I have however found an adapter made by AVtech which is designed for this very reason to use on their products: Ebay item - 120459642988 I am going to give this ago and if it doesnt work i will look to see if it could be a power issue. I will let you kow how i get on
  6. Hi, We have purchased some of these KPD-616 units (link below) which are by avtech but are branded KPSEC, ive seen these with other branding too but it says avtech on the board. It supports IDE drives and works flawlessly, however we would like to use SATA drives as it is easier to get drives and larger sizes. We have tested a cheap IDE to SATA adapter and it recognises the drives fine but the unit crashes after a few mins when its pushed to the limit (rec 16 cams and playback all cams at 32x) Any ideas whether it would be possible to use SATA drives reliably in these units somehow? iviewcameras.co.uk/AVTECH%5FKPD616%5FCCTV%5FSystems%5FDeals/version.asp?PID=28

    AVTech - decent brand?

Thanks for your replies guys. It looks to be a good brand but it seems that we will need 16ch video and 16ch audio, it looks like none of the AV tech units support more than 4ch audio. We need: -backup to usb (inc still images). -Viewing footage over a LAN would be good. -16ch audio/video. -no preference of MPEG4 or H264. -must support 32x or higher fast playback. -Do not need any POS integration. -Will record 24hours a day. -Would like good support. -Logs of video loss would be needed We are looking at Avermedia, would they be best at meeting our needs as they seem to support 16ch audio on a lot of products which the cheaper versions/companies dont. Thanks again Ben
  8. Hi, Ive seen plenty of posts on AVTech standalone DVR units. Are they any good? Were looking at standalone 16ch units and also looking at Avermedia and other smaller brands, was just wondering if AVT are a comparable good brand? Also can i ask what are the playback speeds on these as we are looking to playback video at 32x or 64x? Cheers
