System 1 is plenty. The other two system are overkill.

Yes a f0.75 will work better in lower light than an f1.2. The lower the f number the better it is in low light.

Here is an image gallery you can check out of FLIR. There is a nice interactive demo as well. http://www.indigosystems.com/applications/gallery.html

Maybe this thread might help you out. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3315&highlight=lens+calculator Welcome to the forum.

There you go the field is wide open.

Have you tried taking the cover off and seeing if there is any information regarding the manufacturer there?

Post some still shots if you can.

If you want the infrared to be invisible to the human eye you're going to have to buy the more expensive infrared illuminators.

Poor guy that did those projects spent all that time and then got knocked by the critics. You can save money if your willing to trade off a lot of time. Learning by trial and error and usually expense. If you have good electronics skills and soldering delicate components that go for it. 5 LED's though. Just enough to barely light his face a few inches away.

I don’t feel comfortable with cutting that small wire. I would practice doing that several times out of location rather than learning that out in the field. I like your second idea. I have to buy a longer bit or an extension anyway so I figure the ¾ would be better. When I tried to slip some of this new RG59 Siamese I used I couldn’t get it through a ½ inch hole. I had to use the ¾ bit I had which enabled me to slip the cable through. Plus disconnecting the video lead from the circuit board an reconnecting it while standing on a ladder could be a pain. I have taken those boards apart way to may times already. With the ¾ bit I can just push the terminated Siamese cable with the BNC connector right back into the ceiling. I like that idea though. You know that video wire on those Sanyo domes are pretty short, but I guess most are. -
I recently installed one of those Sanyos vertically instead of the ceiling in a dimly lit bar and it is working out great. You can only pivot up and down mounted that way, but if that's all you need it is a good camera. True day/Night, good low light sensitivity especially for only using a 1/4 sensor. Standard Clear dome for best low light response. I have a camera shot of one in the "Lets all pitch in" thread with people sharing photos of cameras they have intalled.

A little confused on the Video/Power cable statement. The thin video cable from the camera, the center core is the signal and the outer part is the ground isn’t it, like the coax? The second part seems like I would need the nice clean hole all the way through which is what I am trying to do my lengthening the bit or buying the larger bit. I have never attempted to cut one of those tiny wires because I figured I would have a tiny video signal wire that I would have to attach to the solid core of the coax and another tiny wire to connect to the copper grounding on the coax. Am I mistaken? -

Thanks CollinR. They have that same bit in the 36inch size at the last site you posted. -

Yeah I don’t feel comfortable cutting off the BNC connector and then trying to connect the COAX to that tiny wire. That seems like a difficult thing to do and not a lot of wire to screw up with. I bought this one and I would like to extend: B.E.S. FiberFish Rods and Installation Accessories DURA3424 3/4''x24'' Dura-Bit That quick changer extender bit looks like it might work with the above bit? It allows for different shaft sizes I am assuming. Any problems with this thing slipping off and getting stuck in between the roofs? I can’t disconnect the BNC wire from the camera and plug it in from the attic because the place has been remodeled and the new roof is about 3 feet above the old roof, which I have no access to. I need to drill a clean hole all the way through the interior ceiling in through the first roof, which is into the attic. The attic in that area is very cramped as well. -

I already ordered one from SpyTown, waited a week, called to find out the status and was told it was on back order for at least antoher week. It would have been nice if someone told me that. I could say more, but I won't. -

I haven't been able to find one on the internet that is 3 feet long by 3/4" and I spent some time searching. Came up with many hits on 1/2 and 9/16, but not 3/4 inch. Will 9/16 allow me to put my BNC connector up into the ceiling? If I cound just find a 1 foot bit extender to connect the the 2 foot bell hanger bit I have already that would probably do the trick as long as it stays together like mentioned above. -
I think there should be a Snow for Oil program.

I was looking for bit extenders also, but only found very short ones. 3 ½ inches long. Do you have a link for this site your talking about so I can take a look around. Thanks. -

Sorry. Yeah it is for wood. Need to install some domes on a ceiling that has almost 3 feet between the orginal roof and the new one. My 2 footer didn't make it. Thanks. -

While on the subject of drill bits. Where can I get a 36 inch x 3/4 bit? Excludling SpyTown. -
If your motherboard supports SATA you might want to get an SATA drive and put it in an enclosure. You only need cables that extend from the motherboard to a back plate which makes it eSATA. Then you get your full hard drive speed rather than mounting an IDE externally by USB or FireWire. The Prices on the IDE's are really good though as they are phasing them out as fast as they can to sell more SATA.

Yep same places. Global also, which it TigerDirect also I believe. ZipZoomFly is good also. 300GB hard drives are on sale right now I think for $100 after the rebate you never get. At least I never get. Helps to send them in though. Global is the one that has the $99 300GB drives in IDE or SATA right now. http://www.globalcomputer.com/applications/Category/category_hdd.asp?CMP=EMC-GLOBAL&SRCCODE=GLOEM223

Now that is really bad. X10 and Radio Shack. Just can't trust those specs I guess. That's why I just keep asking. There are specs and than there is reality. I wish I had a dollar for every time I saw or heard that "Were are the Leading" or "The best" or "Highest Rated" and so on. You probably mentioned this somewhere already, but what is your favorite Wide Dynamic camera? You don't like the Pano 484? What do you think of the Ganz Wide Dynamic?
-
Yeah you would. What don't you like about them? Other than the word COP! The COP cameras you posted Kand.
