  1. Have you heard of the DS-7104NI-SN/P? I was looking for the 4CH but it can't seem to find a US distributor that carries it. I think it's a china only model but I'm not sure if it's in English or Chinese/Russian.
  2. Has anyone used the Hikvision NetHDD feature? I was wondering if the data that gets saved on the NAS, will it overwrite the data after it runs out of room? Also, if the NVR gets stolen or breaks down, can I attach the NetHDD drive to a new machine (same model), can I playback the footage? I'm trying to find a way to backup a NVR by installing a 2nd alternative place to save the video footage using the same NVR system but saving one set in the internal HDD and one on a NAS. I tried setting up a 2nd NVR but it seems to be pulling too much from the cameras and causes the video not to show up on the 2nd machine. Details of the NetHDD setup: http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/File/201433115208669.pdf
  3. Wow, looks great. I think this is what I'm looking for. We just put up 35 of these at a casino, so they are reliable. I have not had any issues with them. Your best be is to put it next to the main NVR, attach it to the switch, and on long runs to the monitors, get you some HDMI over Cat5 and run them to the monitors. I just called them up (Hikvision) to make sure it's what I needed, so I'm looking for a reseller that carries them now. I didn't know it was going for about $1.5k for one but it does the job!
  4. Wow, looks great. I think this is what I'm looking for.
  5. Ok, I'll give that a shot. For the separate NVRs, if I get the 8CH decoder, can I assign each monitor different channels? For example, NVR is shows 3, 4, 5, NVR2, shows 3 and 6, and NVR3 shows 7. Is that possible with multiple monitors with a subset of different set of channels?
  6. Thanks, I'm checking the Hikvision NVR but I don't see the NetHDD as a redundancy option. I'm just wondering, do you happen to know the maximum bandwidth the IP cameras can stream out? I have a couple NVRs that are used as monitors already pulling 2 to 3 streams and if I set it up that way to save directly to the NAS, I'm afraid that it might not be enough bandwidth. I'm already having issues with some streams now showing up on some of the NVRs and if I go that route, might not work correctly. I tried adjusting the resolution for 1080p and 720p but it still not enough bandwidth. (they are 3MP cameras).

    Mini nvr questions

Do you guys know if there is any way to set up this machine, so that it only boots up showing the first 4 channels and not all 8 at the same time? I only got 4 installed with my NVR and it's a hassle to keep switching it to 4 manually. I couldn't find any option to set this up in the setup menu.

    Mini nvr questions

Thanks to Mike Mahon, I got this to work with the Hikvision 2CD2132-I camera (3MP, 2.8mm fixed). I'm only using this mini NVR as a streaming device, no recording at all. It's way cheaper than buying another Hikvision NVR just to stream video that I'm not going to record. I got my NVR from Amazon for $50 and used URCCTV's latest firmware file labeled 8CH_Mini_NVR_V4.0_20150124_Firmware. Awesome! The original FW didn't detect the camera but this one works.
  9. Thanks for the info. What I ended up doing was upgrading the FW from the reseller but then the Dahua didn't even detect the drive, so they had me try to put the drive into another SATA port but what I did was return the drive and bought a different model (same manufacture) and it worked fine. The machine detects it fine and it works. I think the Dahua unit (32 channel DVR) doesn't like Western Digital Purple drives (atleast the 2TB one). I just bought a WD green 3TB (desktop version) and it works. Rebooted it to make sure it doesn't come up with that SMART window at the beginning. I wanted the purple since it's optimized for DVR/NVRs but they ran out and didn't sell the 3TB version.
  10. I have a 32 channel Dahua DVR with an "serious" smart error on one of the hard drives and would keep popping up every time I reboot the DVR, so I replaced it with a WD purple drive and formatted it. I thought everything was ok until the office had a power outage and the machine rebooted. Now, the HDD window shows a "slight" error under the SMART STATUS. I tried to disable the alarm under "disk error" but it still beeps when the DVR reboots. I'm not sure exactly what that means but is there any particular way I need format or redo the remaining good drives? The current setup was 8 x 2TB HDDS setup with HDD group 1 for the all the recording. If one HDD gets damaged or dies and I replace it with another one, do I just replace it, format it and it's good or do I need to format every since HDD in the same GROUP (group 1) and then it will be ok? I can't seem to find any instructions in the manual for it. All the other HDDs show 0 free except for the new one, which is already 50% used since I installed it in the machine. Any help would be appreciated! If anyone needs screenshots, they are here: http://imgur.com/a/1ai1D Thanks.
  11. Did you format the new drive or all of them?
  12. I just recently bought a Titan NVR unit and read that it had a remote "FTP" backup. I thought this was a nifty idea to do but I couldn't figure out if the unit would recycle the footage after a certain period or will it continuously just keep uploading the footage until the ftp server runs out of space? I was thinking of setting up a NAS on the network with a FTP server, have the NVR backup there as a secondary backup. I'm afraid that I will need to manually delete the data every so often, so that it doesn't run out of space. Has anyone setup a automatic FTP backup with their NVR and had it recycle like the machine would? If it's not possible, is there any automated solutions that are reasonably priced (around $1,000 to $1,500) that I can use to backup my NVR, just incase the machine gets stolen or hard drive crashes? I was thinking of uploading to the cloud but I don't think I have enough bandwidth to upload all that data every night, as a backup. My upstream is only 5Mbit.
  13. Can't I just plug all the cameras into my PoE switch, unmanaged and have one plug into the NVR? Since it's as switch, the NVR won't know the difference anyways and the DHCP server can still dish out IPs through my own PoE switch that's hooked up to the NVR. At that point, I can probably connect to one of the IP cameras through their IP. The only problem with this is that if the IP changes for the IP camera, I'm screwed unless I statically assign them and then connect to them that way.
  14. I bought a system from Costco (the swann 16 channel 3mp one with 8 bullet cameras). I want to pull video from certain cameras into a separate monitor to view somewhere else. I'm not sure if I should just use a computer to get the stream or is there a box (gets video via RTSP?) I can buy that can aggregate all the cameras I need to a TV or LCD monitor? The most I need is 3 cameras shown on one screen but I don't really want to use a computer but if I have to, then that's what I'll need to do.
  15. Thanks for the feedback, I figured there was low chance on that. I guess once they OEM out, they don't bother with support, since the other company will do the support. I already got an answer to my solution in another thread from some guys here.
  16. Maxicon, Thank you so much. That is exactly what I was looking for. I need to get you a beer!
  17. Do you guys happen to know the model number equivalent for the swann cameras? The reason why I'm asking is if these cameras support ONVIF or some other IP standard. I want to pull the video stream from the camera into a separate monitor. I tried to call Hikvision but they are a bit useless in that aspect, they kept telling me to call Swann. Swann's tech support number keeps ringing with no answer.
  18. I downloaded the TFTP guide from Dahua's website (www.dahuasecurity.com/download/TFTP%20u ... ructor.pdf‎) I read it over but I couldn't locate the armboot-x.bin.img and update.img files. I tried to extract the firmware upgrade for my machine, the DVR1604HF-A but inside the bin, the two files aren't in there. (file: General_DVRxx04HF-X_Eng_P_V2.616.0000.0.R.20130403). I have no issue connecting it via RS232 to it and I can see the DVR boot up, I just can't find the files to update it with. Do I have to get them from my distributor or can I get it from Dahua direct? I already know that Dahua doesn't give a **** about it's customers, since I've emailed them with no responses. Can I download the two .img files from their site or do you guys know another site that I can get the files from? My DVR has no video coming out of the VGA slot, so I'm assuming that the firmware is hosed, as I tried to reset the resolution back to the low res but it still doesn't work (holding shift key while booting it up). I'm returning the DVR back to the dealer but it would be nice if I can get it working by trying to repair the firmware for this. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
  19. I bought the Costco Swann 1080p, 8 Channel, 1080p set. I easily got the 4 cameras setup, as they were auto detected by the NVR. I read on the forums that this was a rebranded Hikvision system, so I ordered a camera from China (DS-2CD855F-E). I used the Hikvision app to set the IP to DHCP before plugging the camera into the Swann NVR. The system managed to pick up the camera stream fine and there is picture coming out from the NVR via the VGA port and the local application on the PC can also see the stream. I'm having a weird issue in which I use the Swann Android app (SwannView NVR). The channel that has the official Hikvision camera (DS-2CD855F-E). the video is grey (no picture) and when I run the other cameras, it briefly shows the video then the screen turns grey as well. I port forwarded 554 (default RTSP) to the NVR from the router but I didn't think I needed to port forward the HTTP (port 85) to the NVR, since I won't be accessing the NVR via web browser. I can't seem to change the default RTSP port via the web browser configuration page. It gives me some XML error, "Invalid XML content.". I tried both IE10 (with compability) and Firefox 22 but it doesn't work. Do I need to change it through the front of the machine? Anyone have this problem before?
  20. I did 8000, 554 (default one but now changed to 5544) and 85. I disabled 85, since it was the default web and I didn't want anyone getting in on that one. It works now on the iOS devices but the android is still having the video problem (shows for 1 sec then turns black). I'm running Android 4.2.2 on the Galaxy S4. I don't know why it doesn't work for android. Funny thing is that the Hikvision iVMS-4500 HD works fine just the swannapp doesn't work. Isn't the swann app just a rebadge of the Hikvision app? I doubt they would develop their own app if they can just use Hikvisions own app.
  21. Thank you, I did see that when I google'd it yesterday. I changed the default port for RTSP from 554 to 5544 and it works. I still get an occasional issue with the 2MP Box camera I got from Hikivision. Do you get weird times where the NVR sets the cameras to record to Manual? I had one channel where the NVR kept recording to manual (24 hour recording) and then it switched to motion by itself when I rebooted it? I read the manual says the NVR is set to record on motion automatically. I checked the event and also the motion detection to make sure it's on for every camera but it's just weird.
  22. So, the swann sold by Costco is either using the Hikvision 7600 or 7700 series NVRs? I wanted to get one from Costco but wanted to make sure it was a Hikvision branded one before I buy more cameras. I'm just going to buy straight Hikivision branded cameras for the additional 4 for the system. I'm not sure if your talking about this system: http://www.costco.com/Swann-8-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-Hard-Drive-and-4-1080p-IP-Cameras.product.100027599.html
  23. Does anyone know exactly what Hikvision system this is? I'm looking to buy another box camera for this system but want to make sure it's compatible with the system.
  24. I'm thinking about buying the Costco Qsee 4 Channel 720P set but I wanted to replace one of the cameras with a box camera. I need to view an area that's about 100ft away from the location of where I'm going to put the camera and I know they are rebranded Dahua cameras. I was thinking of getting a Dahua Box IPC-HF3100 1.3MP camera and adding a 15~50mm lens to the box camera. It's going to be thrown in an enclosure to keep it from the environments. Have any of you guys used the IPC-HF3100 camera or would you guys think I should use a different model? This is to view a storage building entrance about 100ft away and I can't run the line closer over there, since the person will be moving out of the location in a year or two and just wants something propped up temporarily to use for the time being. I think he's going to pull it down afterwards when they move out. I've also been reading the other threads that the Lorex HIKVISION is also a good budget set to get, as I've noticed that Costco pulled out the Qsee systems now?
  25. I just bought a Dahua DVR model DVR1604LE-AS with PAL video formatting. Does anyone know or have the firmware that is NTSC? I'm using v1.0.01.01.1768. Thanks.
