  1. "If the above is somewhat close, how hard would it be to use a keyfob controlled relay wired in to disable the driveway sensor when on the property? Maybe even have an LED light showing when the system is armed.

     

    I've done the same setup with a Northern Computers (Honeywell) N-1000 panel. I don't know any panel that has the feature to arm and disarm with a keyfob. What I did was a custom made solution and it only works while a compuer is connected to the actual panel.

     

    I have no experience with the equipment you are using, though.

  2. I too have my doubts that a diode would work. I suppose it would depend on whether the difference was a positive or negative voltage. You could use a "ground loop isolator" in each camera's video line but those tend to be relatively expensive.

     

    Yeah I've seen these ground loop isolators, but they are really expensive. Does anyone know what they do exactly and how they do it?


  3. i have a bunch of Pelco PCTM380-2 cameras in Pelco BB14E21 PTZ enclosures. I want to install a basic system in my warehouse and was thinking of using these. are they worth using and if so what do i need to control the PTZ? I was goig to run them to a DVR card in a PC. or should i just sell them off (if they are worth anything) and get a simpler system.

    As you can tell i am pretty much a beginner.

     

    I can't find any info about these cams in google. What kind of cameras are these?


  4. If the bugs are such a problem you should use a real motion detector to trigger the recording. Most DVRs have alarm inputs and have this feature build in.

     

    WDR cameras are not perfect solutions. I have just installed a WDR dome at a reception with glass doors and lots of windows. It still shows some areas too dark, but I guess it is better than any standard Day/Night camera.

     

    I can also recommend a shop to you. It is called Norbain Security in UK. You can check their Website and look for contact details. I have a salesman who always gives me great discount (I am also a rather big customer). The list prices of Norbain are the best that I could find in Europe.   5. One thing to keep in mind with diodes and rectifiers: you WILL lose voltage across them. A typical silicon diode will drop about 0.7V; since a bridge rectifier basically inserts two of them in series, that will drop 1.4V or so. If you're using a regulated supply with a solid 12VDC output, you'll be lowering what the camera sees to barely 10.6V... even less with line losses.

     

    I'd test it with a single diode, first... if that doesn't help, going to a rectifier probably won't either.

     

    I will just build a rectifier myself and try it out. My powersupplies are regulated 13.8VDC, so it should be okay to loose 2V.

    What soundy suggests with the diode is something I will definately try. Otherwise I could get some rectifiers and connect them to the secondary voltage of my transformers. Would it make a difference where in the power line I place the rectifier? This would definately be cheaper than to get more power supplies.

     

    I get the problem mostly with cameras that have build in IR. They only work on 12VDC, but in the future I will see that I only buy dual voltage cameras.

  7. A ground loop of this type occurs when you have two different paths to ground of substantially differing length. Most cheap 12V cameras have a common ground for video and power, so right there you have two paths to ground, one via the power ground, and one via the video shield. Normally, using coax and power, or siamese cable, the two ground paths are essentially the same length, and there's no problem.

     

    If you look at the internals of a balun, however, they're effectively inserting a matching transformer inline with the two video wires, thus increasing the total length by the length of the wire in the coil windings, which could be dozens or hundreds of feet.

     

    So you end up with one ground path (on the power) that's maybe 30-100 feet long, and another (through *two* baluns) that's 10 times longer, or more.

     

    Within a single camera with an isolated power supply, this isn't usually a problem, but when you tie mutiple cameras into a single power supply with a common ground between all of them, and also have a common ground between all of the DVR's inputs, you end up with a mess indeed.

     

    Wow - thanks for the explanation! You seem to know something about that. Any suggestion how to avoid it without multiple power supplies?

    Altronix makes some for CCTV.

     

    Is this proven to work? Do they also sell in Europe for 230V?


  8. I know there have been threads around about baluns and ground loop problems, but I haven't found any understandable explaination of the problem.

     

    I am using baluns on many cameras in 5 different CCTV systems. The ground loop problem (hum bar or just a lot of noise) has only occured on very few cameras. I know that separate power supplies can handle the problem, but in some cases I cannot install 4 power supplies just because I have 4 cameras.

     

    Please let me know what you know about this problem and how to avoid it. Most interesting for me is WHY this is happening.

  9. Normally, a DVR server supports 64 channels camera. That is to say, you can add 4 4016HC/HS (Hikvision cards) or 8 4008HC/HS/HF or 16 4004HC or some other. But you should consider how many slots do you have at the same time.

    I don't know which kind of Hikvision cards do you have. But now, Hikvision owns a new kind of 42XX series cards, it's very powerful.

    That sounds interesting. It seems that the "NV4216HFV" can do real time encoding at 4CIF. This is rare. I would need the price for 4 of them + the Netvision Software - there is lots of different Software and I actually don't understand which ones I would need for my setup.

     

     

    What is your budget for this project?

     

    I can get four DS-4016HCI for 2450 USD from China (all together). This was my original plan, but I need a powerful Software that can do the things described in my first post. Now I can either buy cards in the US incl. Software or I buy the Software separate and take the cards from China. It all depends on the price.

    Screen may be configured for HDTV monitor.

     

    Adjustable screens – Want to view more that 32 cameras? No problem. Adjust the

    LuxRiot window and open multiple instances. Open as many as your monitor can handle

    or you can view.

     

    I don't have the cameras to test it, but I did open two instances of the Client here in Windows 7 on a 1920x1200 display. Not sure how well that will work on multiple monitors though.

     

    This doesn't look so bad. But there is lots of space under each camera. Is it possible to view full screen (no window visible) and have no or very little space between the different cameras?


  11. Exacq may be one of the few that make their own, they grew out of the data acquisition business... look at http://www.exacqdaq.com/ , their other company.

     

    The technical specs on this page are confusing. They are not even mentioning that I can connect any type of video signal. Could I use these cards in a standard PC and then access the video with the Exaqc Software? Did anyone try these cards?

    I am looking for a DVR Software (preferably for Hikvision cards) that can use multiple screens in 1080p.

     

    I want to use DVR cards to digitalize my 50 analogue cameras and then display them on four 32" screens. The plan is to put four Hikvision H.264 real time DVR cards into two servers. The servers are then accessed by a Client computer that has access to all 64 cameras. The Client has four 32" 1080p screens connected to it to display the cameras live.

     

    Now I need a DVR Software that is able to do that. It must support multiple screens (at least two, I can also use two Client computers) and support a resolution of 1920x1080.

     

    Does anyone know a Software that can do that?

    I am finalizing a new DVR GUI and thought to hear with the people here on the forum what you think and any point of views you have!

     

    This is in Norwegian language so maybe someone will feel it is strange with not the normal buttons like "Search"etc. Any point of view is good for me!

    Looks good. I am from Denmark and I am actually looking for a DVR Software for Hikvision Cards. I need a Software that supports 1080p. I am basically planning to use four 1080p screens to display my 64 analogue cameras.

     

    I would use four 1080p screens on two computers, so each computer would have to handle 32 cameras.

     

    Is this possible with your software?


  14. I cannot get the Hikvision DVR card to work with CyeWeb. It says on the Website of CyeWeb on the section "Support Devices":

     

    - HikVision hardware compression card: HCI, HFI, HSI series, etc. (You need to contact us for the extension module.)

     

    I don't know if I can get that extension module. I assume it is just an addition to the Software, but I only have the trial and I am uncertain if I can get this extension module. Does anyone have that?

     

    Is anyone here using CyeWeb?


  15. The problem with 1024 x 768 is that I want to use bigger screen that have a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. Of course I could still use 1024 x 768, but the result on a 26" screen would be very poor. I need a Software that can use the 1080p widescreen resolution effectively, so I can use 4 26" screens to display all my 50 cameras.

     

    As I said before I could also run separate servers with each 2 recording cards. Then I would have 2 Client computers with each two 26" screens.

     

    I am currently trying CyeWeb and it looks much better than CORE. However I didn't manage to get my Hikvision card integrated yet.


  16. Ok - I just got a Hikvision card and tried CORE. It doesn't support higher resolution than 1024 x 768! This is a joke - the Software seems very outdated.

     

    I have also been checking into Exacq Software and it seems really awesome! However it only supports IP cameras and the Exacq DVRs. The only problem is that a Exacq DVR that meets my needs cost 24.000$ (64 analogue cameras).

     

    I will now try CyeWeb and Linovision if I can find trial versions.

     

     

    I will also try any other suggestions you might have.

    Software does not support a lot of different brand names

     

    I don't know what IP cameras I would use. I am not very familiar with these cameras. The only IP camera I have so far is a Panasonic - this one seems to be supported by CORE.

     

     

     

    I don't fully understand what this card actually does. It seems to be a multiplexer card with an analogue output. However why is it in a computer? It doesn't seem to digitalize the pictures. It also seems to have only very few Video inputs.


  18. My plan for the setup would be the following:

     

    - Install two Hikvision DS-4016HCI cards in two servers.

    - Get two additional Clients that have access to all 64 cameras.

    - Connect two 26" screens to each client (display resoltion 1920 x 1080)

    - Organize the cameras in a nice way and choose full screen on the Clients.

     

    If this works, I think this is going to be a real nice solution. Does anyone object? Any other suggestions?

     

    Also check matrix cards by Hik only analog output

    but u might need it

     

    I am actually trying to go Hybrid, but I'll have a look. Do you have a link?
