  1. Mindtwist, thanks for your response - really helpful. I will look to see if I can find a 4 ch BT878 card. I realise that posting twice was a pain. I wanted to start a separate thread and so should have removed the response on the other thread - just was not sure how to (new to forums, but, will get the hang of it). It is great that there are such forums where experienced users are able to share their views and I just wish that I had come across this before buying the other card. I don't suppose anyone has any use for a TW6802 card and would like to swap or part-swap for a BT878 card? I assume that any 4ch BT878 card would suffice, or, are there ones to steer clear of? I also assume that as my single chip BT878 card did not conflict with my Hauppauge Tuner card that I should be safe with a BT878 4 chip card also? I will finally get my system working with Active Webcam and more than 1 camera with sound which will be great. If there are any other thoughts on what I should look out for, they would be greatly appreciated. Likewise, if people think that I could get a better system together if i were not to keep persisting with Active Webcam, please let me know. Ultimately, I am hoping to have at least 2 cameras running with Audio through Active Webcam previewing and recording at 25fps. Ta to you all.
  2. I currently am using a single chip DVR card running through pysoft Active Webcam software in a Windows XP media centre and wish to upgrade. I had bought a 4 ch 4 chip DVR card Techwell 6802 card H.264, but, the drivers load the card as HV 4000 xxxxxx and the card does not appear in Active Webcam or AMCap. Reading the posts on this website, I would guess that the card is a clone and probably junk, but, I would welcome your thoughts before I bin it. If it is junk as I suspect, I am considering the GV-800 as a replacement and had a couple of questions before I purchase as I want to ensure compatibility with my machine. I would like to retain Active Webcam as it is very useful and I am familiar with the product. If anyone is able to confirm that you Geovision GV-800 product would be compatible and should not conflict with the Haupauge card installed and whether the product can work with Active Webcam, it would be greatly appreciated. I have included the spec of the machine it will run off at the bottom of this post. If there is any other information I should provide to help in determining the above, just let me know. Thanks in advance. 3. Unfortunately, I can't get rid of the Hauppauge card as that is a TV tuner card for the media centre and is used to what and record TV as part of the media centre system. I previously had a 4ch single chip card which worked fine with the Hauppauge card installed and I could watch TV, record TV and have active webcam all running at the same time. It looks like I will have to revert back to the single chip card if I can't rectify this problem. Alternatively, if there is a version of the BTinstaller drivers than can be loaded manually against the each channel of the card, that might be an option to try - if anyone knows of such a driver, that would be great.
  4. Has anyone found a solution for this? I have a New 4 Channel H.264 D1 High Resolution Real-time Display/Recording; 4 Video Channels + 4 Audio Channels + TV-out 120/100 Frame/Sec. H.264 DVR Card with MPEG4 Video Format. It came with what look like generic drivers and they installed okay, but, Active Webcam does not pick up the card at all - when I add a camera manually it does not show up in the list. If I try Bt878 drivers they seem to install, however, I get an error in the device manager showing the card as a Conexant BTPCI card, but, it also shows a small yellow exclamation mark indicating there is an error. I have not been able to get even 1 camera to show up in active webcam or Amcap. I am on the verge of abandoning the whole set up as it is taking up so much time. If someone has access to a driver that would work with this card so that it does show up in Active webcam, it would be great; likewise any advice would also help. System: Windows XP media centre edition Cards installed: the above CCTV card, Sound card, NVidia Grahics card, Happauge TV card for the media centre. I need to get this working, or swap for a more expensive Geovision card - assuming that would work with active webcam / the system. Sincere thanks in advance.
  5. Any views? I would consider abandoning this card and buying a, what I understand is a reputable card - Geovision GV800 - however, I really want to know if what I have already is usable, or if I were to buy the Geovision card that it would fully work with Active Webcam? Help is greatly appreciated.
  6. Hi there - please don't shoot me down for asking this, but, I am completely new to CCTV and a friend recommended a video capture card which I have installed in my PC. Up until now I have been using active webcam with a usb camera and everything has been fine. I thought that it would be great to be able to install a second camera and so on my friend's recommendation bought a DVR card - this is a techwell h.264 card that should be able to process 120fps and is 4 channel. Having read some of the posts on here, I now think that this could be a cloned card, but, before I give up on it, I wanted to check. I have tried to install it and the drivers seem to add in without any problems - in fact I have tried two sets of drivers, the conexant bt878 drivers (which seem to show the driver as partly installed but there is clearly an issue as a small yellow exclamation mark appears in the device manager) the other driver tried seems to work and shows the item as a HV 4000 xxxxxxx. neither get picked up when I search for the camera in Active Webcam. So now the questions: - should this card work in Active Webcam? - is it a cloned card and so should be junked / returned? - can I get this to work or is it a lost cause? If the card is not a clone and a good card, what software would be best for it to work with? If I do start again and want to retain Active Webcam would a Geovision GV800 card work with the Active Webcam and allow me to install more than one camera simply in Active Webcam using the search for camera option? Finally, is there better software that you would recommend for using with 2 - 3 cameras; motion detection is a must and ideally with audio on 1 camera. I need to get this set up as soon as possible and am hoping to only invest a few hundred pounds at this stage. If I have posted anything incorrectly please let me know. I really would welcome your advice.
