When people or cars go by the cameras they are leaving what I'm going to call trails or ghosts as they go that follow them. This is a brand new Avermedia EH5216 and it happens both live and recorded. Tech support tried to tell me that it was my video card, I have tried it on several systems now with both on board video and Nvidia 1gig cards and the same thing happens. Anybody know why this may be happening? Thanks

Oh, I have also noticed that the artifacts in the images that 3RDIGLBL posted did not appear on my system until I did the most recent firmware update.

AverMedia tech support sent me an email several minutes ago. They are unable to duplicate the problem and requested additional information. I had sent them a link to this thread so they could investigate, but I have not yet placed an order for the EH5216 so I don't have any additional information beyond what is included in this thread. I assume those who have an EH system with de-interlacing problems have been in contact with AverMedia and will keep us posted re any progress. Can you tell me what frame rates you are getting over the net when you have 9 channels displayed? I am getting 0-1 per channel and maybe 9-10 in single channel. I have a comcast connection with 2.5Mbs up.

Have you contacted Avermedia technical support? Best, Christopher Yes I have, and tomcctv has just let me know that they are working on a patch. But I am unclear on what the patch is going to fix.

I have it set to Deinterlace 2 currently without any improvement. I have also tried Off and Deinterlace 1 as well. I am currently seeing the same types of images as 3RDIGLBL posted as well as the trailing artifacts the I posted in the youtube clip earlier.

I am trying to figure out if the unit is bad or if this is the best the unit can do? I wish I could find someone else who has this unit that would let me take a look at their feed to see if it is better.

Update: Just changed the drive out for a new WD 1TB and nothing has changed.

I talked to tech support before I bought the hard drive and he told me that they had tested 1.5TB hard drives from Seagate in the system and they were recommended over the other HD's. He also said that list was old. that will be your hard drive. the seagate you have installed is not recomended for avermedia. we have 8 of these units out and never had that problem. in all are systems from aver we use hitachi 1tb http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?Id=253&Tab=SystemRequirement

I talked to Avermedia Tech support and they have been pretty helpful and have agreed to take the system back if I'm not satisfied which I really appreciate. I'm trying to work with them to see if there is any way to improve my system before I make that decision though. The thing that bothers me the most is the viewing online. The frame rates are just terrible compared to the other systems I have and had at the same location. There is also a constant pause in viewing live, 2 sec, then pause, 2 sec, then pause, and so on.

MPEG4, and they are all analog cameras. I appreciate everyone's help so far.

I have 4 cameras set at 15fps at 720x480, 1 at 720x480 at 10fps, 3 at 352x240 at 12fps, and 2 set at 352x240 at 8fps. The other channels are off. I've tried turning the frame rates down, lowering the resolution on all cameras and the artifact issue still remains. I bought this system because the image quality was better than my previous setups. I can't believe I can only get 10fps total via the web. If I have it split into 9 channels the frame rates per channel drop to 0-1fps. It's terrible. As far as the HD, I heard about the issues with the firmware but I thought that it only affected people using RAID configs. The artifacts still are present when not recording so I don't think it is a writing issue. I don't have another drive to test it with right now, I was going to put a WD in it but the manufacturer said the Seagate's were tested and worked well during R&D.

This is the 3rd system I have had with these cameras and it never happened before. I uploaded a clip to youtube, watch the people and cars that go by. The cameras are 540TLV Varifocal [edit by mod-store link removed] Video So far I am very disappointed with this system.

I just got the Avermedia EH5216 and it is great, but when I leave the office and connect remotely I can only get 0-1 fps per channel. I only have 10 cameras connected currently. I just returned another system because the picture quality was terrible, but at least it viewed at 16 fps per channel via the net. Anyone else had this problem or know what I might have set wrong? My ISP is Comcast and I have a steady 1.5-2.5 Mbs, I had a 16CH and a 4CH running together for a couple of weeks now and had no problems. I have messed with the settings all day and not able to improve it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Everfocus EDVR16D1 or Avermedia EH5216 PRO? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Specs look pretty similar but I might be missing a big difference. Thank you.

The demo for the EPARA16D3 on the everfocus site seems to have better quality images then the system I have now. What I really need to know is if anyone who has the Avermedia EH5216 can tell me if the quality on the remote viewing is as good or better using analog cameras. Thanks

Hello, I purchased a 16CH Standalone for my office and I am not happy with it at all. The specs are below. I need a standalone system that has higher resolution during remote viewing, this one says it records at 720x480 but tech support today told me that it only records at 320x240? Also the image quality does not have a super high setting? And I can only log in remotely from 2 computers before it tells me that too many are logged in at once. I need to be able to use the remote viewer to open each camera to at least 640x240 and have it look good enough to see faces. Any help would be appreciated. I live in Florida and I would like to stay under $1000 if possible. When did you purchase it? For H9516UV DVR has upgraded recently, so there are two types, they may sent the old H9516UV DVR to you. Do not worry, ask them to creat a RMA for you, replace the newly upgraded one. If you still are not satisfied with it, ask them for a full money refund if you purchased it within 30 days. I purchased it on 11/17/09.
