  1. I have a garage with electrical outlets about 100 feet away from my DVR which is in my basement but only 20 feet from the closest part of my home's exterior wall and I want to mount a camera on the exterior of the garage but I do not want to run any additional wiring between my home and garage. I will consider running wires within my home. These are the options I am considering and I would appreciate your input: 1. Wireless camera with a receiver connected to my existing Speco DVR http://www.123-cctv.com/wireless-cameras/wireless-infrared-camera.html Pro: Simple Con: Not very flexible, locked into specific camera model/vendor, unsure of radio quality/reliability 2. SPECO WK 2505 wireless cctv transmitter receiver 2.4 Ghz http://www.jmacsupply.com/Speco_WK2502_p/spe-wk2502.htm Pro: Simple, I select any analog camera I want, a well known cctv product vendor, choice of other radios Con: Unsure of how well such radios work in real life. Are their better radios that don't cost a mint? Really seems like a no brainer but I am new at this and would appreciate your help. I am thinking of going with option #2 and possibly running a drop from my DVR to the inside of the wall closest to the Garage which is about 20 feet away. BTW, I did search the forums prior to posting but I did not see anything helpful. Thanks!
  2. I often see wide screen televisions being used as monitors for cctv systems and in my opinion they look okay. I also see expensive monitors termed "Professional" for cctv use at around 22" that cost about $600, which is what the 46" LED TV costs. The larger 46" screen at around $600 with VGA and a number of other inputs just seems to make sense. I've searched the forums for monitor, display, screen, etc withou much success. So, I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me the difference and share their recommendations for a system with 10 analog cameras (Everfocus EZ650). Thanks Below are the 46" LED TV specs and a link to bestbuy. 3. I think the Duracell Powepack is an excellent idea but I am leaning towards the 300 watt model. It wieghs only 15 pounds vs 27 pounds for the 600 series and I think it should be enough for a 10 camera installation. Maybe I should return that 2.5" LCD tester for a 5" model. http://www.duracellpower.com/documents/tech-specs/DS20070621_duracell-pp300.pdf Thanks for your suggestions!
  4. I am installing Everfocus EZ650 cameras and I purchased a test monitor that also supplies 12V of power which I am thinking may not work. Does anyone know of a test monitor or maybe just a 24VAC battery that would power these cameras? I was even thinking of getting a small UPS and plugging a transformer into it with an extention cord. Thanks! http://everfocus.com/downloads/manuals/ez650_manual.pdf AC24V: camera: 5W camera+heater: 11.5W camera + int. IR: 12.7W camera + int. IR + heater: 19.3W
  5. I plan to purchase 6 IP cameras and I need a DVR to record the video. Budget is about $1500 for the DVR. Which are the better models? I want alerting, ability to view over the Internet, and basically a reasonably robust set of features and good support. Another thing I need it to do is display the video on a 55" flat screen. I have seen the DIGINET logo displayed on large security monitors here in New York in at least 4 different stores but I am not sure if it is a standalone product or if it requires a pc or server. Thanks in advance
