Its always the way with manufacturer training - it is a good way to get your 'message' across to a captive audience.

What app should I tell PFConfig I'm trying to forward

If this has disappeared after formatting your pc I would suggest your router is still set up fine and it is your PC which needs tweaking. If you are trying to access a 192.X.X.X address remotely it wont work. You need to go to www.whatsmyip.org (from home!!) which will give you your external address. Try substituting this address for the 192 address in your post. This address may change regularly, if it does come back and we can tell you how to set up a name to point to instead of the IP address. Hope it works for you.

    CCTV System

Hi Mate Why not read through some of the excellent information on this forum and try and work out a solution yourself. You should get a better response if you want help with a specific element rather than someone to just design a system from the ground up for you. Have a read and let us know if you have any specific questions.

    UK CCTV suppliers

If it is the cheaper end of the market then we always take a look at Dynamic CCTV as they seem cheap and good quality. For higher end we email several people a kit list and see who has stock and is the most price competitive.

    Network Problems.... Latency Issues

Rather than QoS I would be looking at subnetting off some of the kit - probably client computers first and then getting cameras on to their own subnet. I'm not familiar with your brand of switch though so I don't know how easy or otherwise that might be to do.

My router wont recognize my dvr

Hi Klain There are a couple of things to check here - does your router normally give out IP Addresses? You can check your laptop to see if you have an address allocated by the router or a static by going to command prompt and typing cmd and then ipconfig in the black window. If you are on a MAC then someone else may be able to help. The MAC address is not normally something which is set by you - it should be a unique address which is set by the manufacturer. If you have somehow overwritten yours it is possible the information is contained on a sticker on the unit. I suspect the MAC is a red herring though and either your router isnt giving out addresses or your router only gives certain devices addresses (probably by looking if the MAC address of the requesting device is in it's table). I hope some of that helps!

    CCTV on iphone

More and more manufacturers are embracing the iPhone and this type of setup is becoming more and more common. Searching either google or the app store lets you find out if your particular camera is covered but there are also some generic IP CCTV applications out there which are worth a try. I still find it amazing that we can do it - even a few years ago this would have been incredibly difficult to achieve.

    MIlestone Configuration

Thanks for the response. The PC is a 2.8Ghz dual chip machine with 2Gb Ram. It has two hard drives - a local 500Gb and a 1Tb used for archiving. The TCP ports is an interesting one as we have 13 cameras so I imagine that might cause an issue. In fact just checked and we have maybe a dozen errors and a load of TCP/IP warnings. I've just patched it so will see what effect it has. This would also tally with us seeing a reboot clear the problem (I assume this would clear unwanted connections). Many Thanks for your help, I hope to be able to help you out some day too!
  9. Hi Guys, I saw the other Milestone threads so thought this would be a good place to ask a question. We have a holiday home with 13 AXIS IP cameras installed. The system works flawlessly when the client is away (but I guess it only records minimal amounts). When the family arrive the system gets hammered - maybe five or six cameras recording motion continuously. I struggle to work out a compromise between the two scenarios - occupied and unoccupied. I was hoping Milestone would be a bit more dynamic - record motion on all cameras at 1fps and overwrite when full would have been great. Interestingly when the family are in residence the system seems to get bogged down after a couple of days and the PC needs rebooting. The network is good but the PC seems to run out of RAM (hard drive space is OK). Any tips on how this system should be configured? Thanks in advance! Dave
  10. Hi All Long time lurker - first time poster. I wanted to let you all know of an install we have just completed with 13 Axis cameras controlled by a Crestron Home Automation system. We did some pretty cool stuff like switching frame rate and resolution depending on the numbers of cameras being viewed. You can view some technical detail here: http://www.customcontrols.co.uk/brands/axis-ip-cctv-installation/axis-crestron-integration.aspx If anyone needs any help integrating with Crestron or AMX then please do get in touch. Happy to help if I can. Great forum! Thanks Dave
