  1. Where do you view your cameras- at the nvr monitor all the time or remotely? Remotely you can use PSS and make a task which will bring up only four cameras in the order you choose every time you open it. At the nvr, if nothing else works and if you haven't gotten too deep into custom settings, you can probably take all four lines out, default the nvr, and then plug the lines back in the order you want them. Goofy way to do it I think, but if all else fails it'd probably work. And turn off auto reboot. Not needed.

Appreciate that. I view them on a 'remote' monitor cabled directly to the NVR. I have turned off auto reboot and they now stay put. Is there any reason to use auto reboot, I know on my old DVR if I didnt reboot, it would lock up?

  2. Cheers.

I have turned off auto maintain that rebooted it every week. Does it not need this, I assumed as it was on by default it needed to?

When I try to delete the cameras under remote devices the delete button doesn't work. All the cameras were added automatically and now they wont delete. If I am a camera manually I can deleted but not the ones that are auto added, any ideas?

The TOUR settings dont change what I require, this just changes the flicking through all the channels.

  3. I have just installed 2 new Nite Devil camera's and although the night vision and colour reproduction is great I am unhappy with the quality of the pictures, they look very soft and slightly out of focus even tho I have spent ages focusing them. Depending on the time of day and light ch2 can look slightly better but ch4 is just bad.

ch1 and 3 are cheap ebay 420tvl, 6 years old, ch2 and 4 are new nite devils and are 600TVL true day night, ICR.

I think the old camera's are sharper.

I am focusing them by looking at the laptop screen, which isn't ideal but all I can do....am I missing something?

    Any advice would be great.

  4. What are people's opinions on this camera? Its £150+vat (not from that site). Essentially I am looking for great low light quality without loads of noise or needing to use IR.

Ideally I want to get hold of the CNB VBM-24VF however it is proving almost impossible to get in the UK so I'm having to look at others.

Are there any recommendations for anything better in the same price range?

    Cheers

  5. i would go D1. try it and see. you don't need to have such high frame rate, 6fps would be bareable.....just.

Well I currently have CIF so going to D1 would mean a new DVR, the pictures look acceptable when in a small square but when you enlarge them they just look awful.

Think I am jsut trying to find an excuse why I 'need' a new dvr!!

You know what, they have been like that for years and until you said it, I never noticed, but you're right, they do need adjusting!

  6. I think any near decent camera will handle that fine. The camera is not actually looking at the sky so perhaps its a reflection from something else. Either way going by the washed out colors and quality of the image I imagine it is a very cheap camera, no IR Cut filter and perhaps 1/4" Sharp, maybe even CMOS? Also, have you tried cleaning the camera, a dirty camera can sometimes cause the issue you are experiencing.

Its CCD but was only about £60. The sun is just setting over a hill and the top part of the screen catches it nicely!!

Have had it down and cleaned it yes, which did actually help but the image you see here is after cleaning it, the camera makes me ashamed

Can you mount the camera in a different location?

No, its on the back on the house, haven't got that option.

  7. One of my camera's points into the sun in the afternoon, I cant get around it if I want to see the length of the garden.

The camera is essentially blind for an hour while the sun goes down.

If I move the camera down anymore I lose site of what I am trying to view.

Could someone please recommend me a camera that can handle this situation please, I require good night quality without IR. I have been looking at the CNB VBM-24VF as it has everything I require but dont know how it would handle the sun.

The attached picture shows what happens, its just going out of shot but the picture can go almost white

    Thanks for your help

  8. I have a 4 camera setup as shown in the picture and am unhappy with the quality of the recording, its currently CIF@25fps. I want to be able to make a facial recognition, which is just about do-able with CIF.

For the distances the camera's cover would it make much of a difference upgrading to D1@6fps or should I stick with what I have?
