I have a Dahua CVI 720p 8CH DVR,I have tried the dvr with one Lorex 1080p camera and the picture was very good,would it be ok to use 1080p cameras on all channels with this DVR?

i have a cvi dvr,i have seen 1080p cameras advertised as hybrid/tribrid(suitable for ahd,cvi and tvi),do these cameras produce the same quality pictures as dedicated cameras??

help required please,

i cant control my camera osd from my dvr,i can adjust the camera with the camera joy stick but for some reason i cant get the osd menu to display via the dvr controls,i've got pics of the cmera and dvr settings and i think that they are correct,any help/advice would be appreciated,thanks andrew

It does have RS485, so you can indeed control the OSD menus from the DVR!

The camera is the one you linked above? Because that one is an analog camera, and it does not say anything about RJ45 or RS485.

here's a pic of the manual

You can't. To be able to do that, the camera would need to have RS485 for controlling remotely the OSD menus (like PTZ cameras). You can only adjust the settings from the camera itself.

in the manual for the camera and it says "the camera has a RJ45 socket for UTP,the camera uses UTP for transmitting video signals,power and transferring RS-485 control data"

hi all,

3-4yrs ago i purchased an Avtech AVC770 digital video recorder from a car boot sale and it has sat in the shed since,last weekend i had someone try to break in to my house so i thought i would try and set up cctv to try and catch the culprit,the recorder did not have a HDD fitted when i bought it so i have just fitted one and i can record with it but when i press menu it asks for a password but i have no idea what it is,is there any way to reset it,
