    Linux DVR - Hawkeye

OMG... Do not use Hawkeye / Neugent .. That's the worst experience Iv'e ever had with a mfg. I have tun's of extra cards, boards, plugs if anyone needs parts for the 16chan capture cards. The DVR does not work.. they can not get them to work, I wasted hundreds of hours trying.

    Baluns and Ground Loop issues

Just to add to this subject.. we had the noisy - rolling type problem on a 4 camera (detached) building combining them to a 16channel dvr in the main building on cat-5 passive; 12vdc power supply with 4 outputs, Like everyone else if we power them one at a time or use individual 12vdc power supplies problem solved.. We ended up removing 2 or the cameras from the metal building and mounting them on the wood (non-conductive) part of the building and it cleaned up all problems.. so if isolated from the building ground has something to do with the issue as well??? what's up with that?

Question about Resolutions and Capture Capability

I'm not sure what the resolution of the CRT's was.. but, I do know (size) is relative to the image clarity re: 13~19" monitors show a great image vs a large screen 42" etc..

    Linux DVR cards

Be very careful buying from Neugent / Hawkeye. I have been trying to use their cards for several years. A very bumpy road. I have 10 or so 16 channel MPEG cards if anyone needs them. Very unstable and tech support is terrible. Kevin Bell President ProTech Security, Inc. Alma, Arkansas USA kevin@psi90.com

Question about Resolutions and Capture Capability

Question is.. can we expect a better image quality (live &or Recorded) by using 600~700 Line Resolution cameras vs. 540~550 Line? Is provided more pixels than needed help?
  8. D1 resolution is (704x480), A 520 Line Camera is (720x480) providing the DVR with as much resolution as the cards can capture. Question is, if we use 600 and now 700 Line cameras will the image improve on a DVR capturing at D1? Thanks, Kevin Bell
