  1. HI. Point taken... Let me experiment with different configurations of HD. Thanks a lot for your time and input. If you do happen to be in the bay area, please give me a ring. Thanks Martin
  2. Thanks for your response. Can you suggest a brand and model that's compatible with American Dynamics? Martin
  3. All of our DVR's are running better now. Thanks for all your help. With regards to external storage, do we have to use American Dynaimcs brand or can we purchase any NAS brand? I haven't upgraded our DVMS systems yet but I just want to prepare just in case it can't handle the upgrade from 2x250gb to 2x2tb or 4x2tb drives. We are required to retain 14 days of recordings per machine. Thanks Martin
  4. Hi. Just wanted to let you know that our DVR's are running well except sometimes it has to be rebooted. Is there a reason for that? Also, we are looking into getting network storage. What are your thoughts about that? Thanks Happy holidays Martin
  5. Thank you so much for the clarification. I will give this a try and give you an update. Thanks again for all your help.
  6. I did what you mentioned but on the 4th HD (500gb each) it labeled it as pagefile. How do I correct that because it won't let me delete it. On the 2nd machine, I'm installing 2 2tb hd and it also labeled one as pagefile. Other than that, it's going like you mentioned. Thanks and hoope to hear from you soon.
  7. What information do you need me to provide? How do I get to the Intellex drive manangement? How many years is the warranty cuz we bought the system used? We have both Intellex Ultra and DVMS systems and they have different configurations and ways to setup. Still in the learning stage.
  8. Hi. I'm really sorry for the late reply, had to finish another project. Anyways, here's what I was able to gather with regards to your questions: Martin Few questions... 1. Which version Intellex are you referring to? Ultra 4.2 and and Ultra 4.2 Supermicro 2. What is size of the c:\ drive? 2GB 3. How did you "prepare" the drives before use? Safe mode on Windows Disk Management Activate Simple, Dynamic and NTFS Save and Exit Alt F2 Hightlight HD Create unit Raid Config - single drive Array's write cache - disabled Setup size - n/a continue on source error during rebuild - n/a save 4. When you changed the drives, did you also changed the power supply with higher rated version? no, we didn't 5. If you are using 2TB drives, then you are using SATA drives... How many SATA ports does your motherboard come with - or better yet, which motherboard are you using? Intel Core 2 CPU 6320@1.86ghz 1gbram and I belive there are 4 SATA ports It is not uncommon to have a bad drive anyway, but dependent on your answers, it is very possible that that drive may have not been prepared correctly in the first place... Most likely you sliced the first drive for Windows and Intellex and hope that you have given larger than 8GB slice... Also, since you mention that you increased your RAM, did you also increase the virtual memory?? Lastly, what type of SATA connections are you using based on the motherboard? I have seen older Intel motherboards that are not up to par with functioning with latest SATA drives.. Get back to me with some answers and I am sure we can figure out the problem. If there's anything else that you need, please let me know. Thanks again
  9. Do you know the cause of the error? Is there something I can do to correct it? Thanks
  10. Can you also show or teach me how to break the bios password from previous owner. Thank you. Martin
  11. Hi. We have American Dynamics Intellex DVMS and we are getting "storage failure" errors. We upgraded from 512kb to 1gb ram and put in 2 2tb HD. The first HD seems to be ok but once it rolls over to the 2nd one, the error comes up. Has anyone encountered this problem and resolved it? Thanks in advance for your help. Martin
