    Feedback about 4 Channel DVR

For the price I have seen just googling it I think its amazing!!! Just to see a networkable dvr that cheap kinda scares me, not to mention the fact it has a vga out as well!! Where do I sign up to be a distributer of this line or is google going to rape us of any profits?? Never the less looks good for the price, I look forward to seeing the network viewing upgrades yet to come.

    Memory Stick Backup?

Its hard to tell anymore with all the compressions and what not. You can also get a USB Video grabber to copy video files with.

    Brain overload.."red alert...red alert"

Whats that?? Rory sleep?? I don't believe it!!!! He is right though most inexpensive dvr's have slow networking or other limits but to some people thats all they want or need. Take a cheap 4 ch networkable dvr and compare the network veiwing to a time lapse vcr and you will think you have struck gold and that is all some people want or need but then take that and compare it to a $10,000 PC DVR or NVR and it looks like crap. Pretty much there is a dvr out there for everybody anymore and generally you get what you pay for if you did your research for you client. I like to send out demos if possible, so the customer can see ahead of time what he is getting.

    How long to guarantee equipment?

I go with manufactures warranty and would build in the labor into the install price unless they complain about finding online cheaper then I stress the labor for warranty issues and if they still complain make them pay for labor if warranty issue happens.

    SO Many Different Brands

If you are first starting out and find end users looking to buy cctv it is a good way to get into the good graces of the dealer installer world by refering them a new customer but then again you do whatcha gota do to get goin

    battery backup ups

I would buy 3 or 4 of those...you would do better with Tripplite or APC. Like that one guy says..you get what you pay for...

    SO Many Different Brands

From the distributer point of view selling to an end user at all is bad for business. First of all end users are calling all the time for support and they only buy once so you better make 50 points or better. Worse then that is you are taking business away for your dealer installers. I get leads from manufactures sometimes that are end users and I pass them along to dealer/installer in the area.

    Has anyone heard of ...

Never heard of them but some of there cameras look like the ones here www.krcctv.com

    SO Many Different Brands

Its definitely not easy trying to support 100 or so brands. You don't have to know everything about all the products you carry..thats what spec sheets and tech support are for. Research will teach you alot as well as word of mouth. I have learned alot from this forum on things you wouldn't even have thought of.

Will any old hard drive do?

Ya some hard drives are not compatible with some dvr's plus you have to be careful not to void your warranty by using your own HD even if it is compatible

    Wholesale

Ya that sucks when it happens, it doesn't happen alot but s%#t happens. With my luck it's usually happens with new customers or when it absolutely has to ship that day.
  18. RVRBOY420007

Do you charge for service calls?

Depending on what the call was regarding would definitely decide wether to charge or not.I always try to explain as much as possible without confusing the end user.
  19. RVRBOY420007

    Wholesale

There are alot of distributers out there as far as shipping on time...that is something the manufactures control...distributers are just the middle man. I get blamed for backorders and misshipments all the time and I am constantly telling customers that I have no control of when an item ships. Unless the distributer has the item you order on the shelf they are at the mercy of the manufactures. The worse part about it is when the manufacture tells you its in stock then I tell my customer who usually had imeto get approval from the end user then an hour or sometimes the nxt day its get ordered and either the item is no longer in stock or the manufacture didn't tell you it has to be assembled first so I usually end up paying red freight and then fighting the manufacturer to reimburse me.

    Netpromax PAIN

Are you using the computer for other things besides a dvr??

DVR not responding to remote view?

Ya if it worked before it should work now. Whoever you talk to at Arm must be new or something. Who did you buy it from maybe they can help.

Any suggestions for License Plate Cameras?

The only good solar will cost more then the whole job. Wireless will get interference that can distort the images. If they set the island up right then there is already conduit going out to it for the lighting which should run inside to a power panel as well as data lines for the pumps. You shoul have enough room in the conduit to run some cat 5 that you can use for your video and power.
  23. RVRBOY420007

are these apec cameras any good ?

Never heard of them but they look like a typical oem ir bullet. I would guess the cost is between $100 and $250 maybe $300 for the varifocal. See if they will send you a demo and if its good post pics on here.
  24. RVRBOY420007

    anyone know

I don't get it...whats so special about it??
  25. I have never put in a card before but from all the technical stuff I have seen on the forum don't think I would want to unless maybe for personal use and the knowledge I could gain from it. I sell alot of PC DVR's, mostly Toshiba and they are usually plug and play. I never thought of the warranty issue or some of the other things VST pointed out, although I have some customers who are very successful with GeoVision and other PC Cards, they did state that it took some getting used to but so does anything else different you try for the first time.
