March Networks has a NVR that will do both Analog and IP plus they've got something called R5 VOS that sounds like it was made for your solution. It again handle Analog and IP but stores everything in a central location. I've never seen the VOS in action though; just read about it on ther web site but I do have lots of their NVRs out in the field and they perform great. Central Management allows me to offer a health monitoring service to my customers and boy do I love getting this extra money each month

I have had the best success with Seagate by far. Stay away from Maxtor as they are not a quality product at all. Hey all Looking for some recommendations for some 802.11 IP cameras that I can store on a central server. I’ve got 8 cameras in total that I need to be able to display at least all 8 at the same time from a PC; very real possibility of the camera install base expanding so I want to be ready for that. Client software or web page for access is fine. Storage on the cameras is a very nice to have but I’m just fishing to see what’s out there for that. Low end to mid range pricing; no enterprise solution needed here (Although I'd love to find me a big fat Enterprise Customer )

Also take a look at March Networks R5 Visual Intelligence. All of there products can be managed by their software and their 3204 is a nice little unit. I know of install basis in the thousands using this management software.

datvtnt If kensplace fix works see if the Avtech DVR has an audit log. Maybe it wasn't over written in the factory reset and you can see when and maybe who changed it. Install in a few banks and you'll realize the value of an audit log

Your best bet is to call Avtech Support and see what they can do for you but be ready; they are going to ask you a lot of questions to make sure your the owner and probably not help you out anyways. Passwords are there for a reason At the very least they should be able to provide you with something to reset the unit to default; again providing you can prove your the owner of this equipment. Might be worth calling the company you bought this from as well. Maybe they will be able to pull some strings if your legit.

How many locations are you going to be rolling out to? I've got some experience with March Networks Enterprise Management Suite and its OK but I'd like to hear about how others manage a fair size install base of DVR/NVRs. Everyone's always talking about the features or Analytics/Motion Detection, POS ect and these are all great but I just want to know when I need to dispatch someone to fix something......before I get the call that there's no video because the camera was down/HD failed/unit wasn't working. Everything I've seen seems to be OK for say 100 DVRs but once you get more than that installed managing the DVRs, Cameras and whatever else is connected to them becomes an issue. With all the new features everyone is touting about Analytics ensuring your install base is running efficiently becomes even more of a priority in my opinion as it’s kind of hard to get any useful analytics out of a bad camera or non functioning system. DVRs/NVRs or whatever you want to call them are not just a security tool anymore, they are going to be used by operations and marketing and being an admin of these systems that just means more people to yell at me when something isn’t working

I've used Nice, 3R and March Networks but I've pretty well standardized on March. They've got a complete product line and their tech support is awesome. That's important to me, having good tech support, because I don't know it all so when I have a question or issue I can call March and get a real person who will answer my question right away or get back to me with an answer. They even help me with pre-sales questions too. I can't say the same thing for Nice or 3R, they just sold me the units then I was on my own. If I didn't need the support I would have bought the **** off eBay My 2 cents

Does anyone know how much these cost? I don't care if it's MSRP, dealer, whatever I just want to see how much they are!

DLink Routers support Dynamic DNS now. I have a No-IP account and I run my remote sites with DLink and haven't really had too many problems, except for the odd time where the router hangs and needs to be rebooted but for the savings ($50 for the router) I don't mind having to reboot it once in a while, doesn't result in any lost video so I'm OK there From what I've seen most consumer routers (DLink, SMC, LinkSys) are moving towards Dynamic DNS support and with Cisco buying LinkSys you are going to start seeing some pretty cool features in their routers shortly, Bandwidth Priority being the one I'm waiting for. All D-Link Routers now have support for no-ip built in now. Just upgrade the firmware and you'll see the option. Quite nice too. I just found this forum, must say I'm pretty excited because I have a lot of questions and hopefully I'm be able to answer a post or two
