    Pelco Dome 3 Model DD53CBW - question

Spectra Day/Night Dome Drive: ftp://www.pelco.com/ProductSpecs/Pelco_Spectra_III_SE_Series_Camera_System_spec.pdf. A good deal for what it is - a sub assembly (as per your referenced part number) - the most expensive piece of the puzzle for sure... but without a back box (and ideally a lower dome and mount) it's an expensive paper weight. See if there isn't more available - otherwise expect to pay hundreds more for some back box, lower dome, and some mounting hardware. See above link - it's full of info. A complete part number would look something like SD53CBW-PG-E1.

    who makes this DVR?

Dunno... but I do believe the bottom one is a mere reflection of the bottom one... if you get my drift.
  3. Yeah... tons - - have worked with the product for years (but not with their brand name on it - - of course they don't make it). We source it directly without the branding (for less). Contact for pricing if you're a dealer or if an end user I'll direct you to a dealer near you. Rick / KrCCTV.com / 714.381.0101 with questions...

    Good Wall Clock Camera Suggestions

Yeah Rory... who needs personal safety anyway If not a clock (so many coverts are junk - not just the pinhole lens but a super cheap camera with a super cheap lens producing junk images)... then... Have found many folks like the view from a wall mounted motion detector cam better anyway - more ID potential with the right frontal view than from above... no? One can get high res versions of motion detector cams with or without working PIR... or maybe better yet as was suggested to "build you own" with a higher quality camera and a pinhole. I know GANZ has high res and lower light capable board cameras and macthing CS mount pinhole lens (needs lots of mounting depth). Much more cost of course but you should certainly expect get more out of it. IR would take you in a different direction. Probably have to go high res B&W (not likely to find covert mini ICR camera worth a darn if at all) and of course if we're trying to be covert here than you have to go 950 on the IR (separate) and still somehow disguise it. I favor hard wired incandescents and maybe even emergency lighting in case some smartypants tries to kill lighting power before doing his(her) dirty deed. Of course battery backed lighting doesn't do much good if the camera and recorder are off. Oh heck... just hire a 24/7 guard that wakes to (battery backed) electrical shock when the door is opened.

One other item should be considered if you are a reseller of product. If you are the end user then it doesn't apply. Which are you?

There isn't just one. Multiple sources, most if not all out of S. Korea.
  9. In honor of the 6 month anniversary of this thread I'd like to take the opportunity to offer our unbranded "major brand" Time Lapse VCR at awesome dealer pricing (only dealer inquiries accepted). Oh... also just got word (despite earlier predictions to the contrary)... the sky is not falling

    Hybrd Solutions

On occasion, yes. In fact our higher-end embedded dvr line offers an analog-dvr/ip specific solution. Unit records up to 4 analog / 12 ip (specific to same manufacturer's ip product). Software multiviews 100 dvr’s (max 16 on a screen at once). Choices on the ip side - very basic indoor fixed-focal-length ip camera or one-channel or six-channel video server coupled with any fixed or ptz analog camera(s). In higher-end applications though 3+ on the IP side may favor a second dvr (wired or wireless ip) if they’re relatively grouped (higher recording ips that is not network dependent, more storage, and ultimately cheaper) with seemless multiview with the other dvr(s) using client software. Not good for megapixel though – dvr at 720x would make it a waste (and don't know of any embedded analog/ip that would support that – would probably need to go PC Based or NVR and all ip). Also where analog are recorded at 60ips/4... ip are limited to about 5ips recording and of course ip recording is totally network dependent. Did solve a real neat municipality application with system where our dealer delivered 30ips recording of local esprit ptz's (using dvr) with 5ips offsite back-up of same camera (x6 sites) recording (using servers to 4TB remote back-up and control location - - was cool - they could even use Pelco keyboard at back-up / control center to joystick control remote PTZ's). Usually makes the most sense where you may have a single remote camera (like a guard shack) and often with a wireless network connection serving the ip camera(s). Seems like an especially good fit when you have a handful of critical (local embedded analog recording) cameras coupled with a number of others that are maybe less critical and spread all over (but have local power) where, for example an alternative of trenching makes a lot of servers, analog cameras, and maybe even wireless equipment a great deal.

    Unsecured Wireless Networks

Interesting - notice the focus on illegaility (if any) is on the intentional sharing by the subscriber and not on the free surfing by the receiving user.
  12. Just a note that the "auto-dial" functionality can be added to any dvr with an alarm output. Consider "separating out" that functionality and choose the DVR based on other "most desireable" features (I think you'll find out that this approach greatly expands your choices).
  13. Or Pixord ( just kidding - same thing without the branding). Anyway the real (Pixord) thing is probably more "internationally available" than the "VS" version outta New York anyway. Visit Pixord.com for more info on the two-channel Pixord 2000.
  14. Might also consider separating the IP camera from the wireless access point (or even separating the camera from the server too) to increase your choices and maybe get a better overall solution.

    Low light Camcorder

Was my experience (last time I used a camcorder - a few years ago when VHS-C was still pretty much the standard) that camcorders blew away cctv cameras of that day when it came to low-light performance (so... in-other-words... any would do - buy based on other desireable features). I remember when I got in to this business that I was really suprised that they were so much better than "pro" cctv cameras in low-light performance. Anyway... can't say that's still the case but will be interested in others' thoughts.

STATIC IP ADDRESS-HOW DO I GET ONE

There may be other options for you as well Jeannie if you tell us "why?" For example if it is for use with a DVR or video server (in other words Networked Video) many manufacturers of such products offer support for dynamic IP addressing together with simple free services not unlike some of those referenced above. On the other side of the arguement you might consider that (again assumes this is for remote viewing of video) a minimum advisable upload speed connection (though a different wired or wireless isp) will often include 1-5 static IP's anyway.

    Mace & Support Issue's.

Well... (warning... shameless plug to follow) don't forget you dealer/installers can always turn to your friendly alternative (us) for the exact same 540tvl DSS vandal, dome, and box cameras without the fancy name and costs associated with advertising and jets (we don't have corporate anything ).

You mean with the ICRealtime name on it... sure... and Z.D.T. probably wouldn't ship just one from China to Australia no matter what name was on it (or at least it wouldn't make much fiscal sense). But they must sell through other channels right, or at least want to - - Heck... I see they're at ISC West: http://www.iscwest.com/app/homepage.cfm?moduleid=1533&appname=180&PGswitch=PGdetail&K_PGI_ID=7618
