  1. oh yeah i for got to mention rather than getting an it guy/girl to help you at your home i might be able to help you for free by logging in to your computer remotely using windows remote assistance if you will let me you just need to go on windows remote assistance on your computer and invite me to help you by sending an invite to my email address then i can log in and set up the port forwarding if you need help with that but i will need to know the ip address of your cctv system so i know where to forward the ports 80 and 8880 of yours to once i have done that i just need to do your active x controls and bring up your cameras.
  2. i can help you need to go to the port forwarding page of your router and forward the ports the you said http port 80 and data port 8880 to the ip of your cctv system then once all that is done you need to go to internet explorer under tools and internet options then security and custom level and eable the following activex controls in the following image then once you have done that in the address bar of your browser internet explorer type in your external ip which you can find on the following web site http://www.whatsmyipaddress.org then once you have your ip from this site type it in as follows this is example by the way http://182 197 48 154:80/ the 80 at the end of the ip is the http port you frowarded on your router once typed in hit enter and you should get a blank screen more less like the one in the following image but with download some where on the screen then hit download and install once that is done typ in ip address as before and you should get a screen like mine with 4 black boxses and a log in screen should appear asking for the ip address that is in the address bar and a username and password if you set one up for your cctv use that to log in if you havn't got one it does not matter just tick the tick box on the right of the log in box to enable sockets and type in the ip and click next your cameras shold then appear like mine do

    Remote viewing help

in the port forwarding image you sent you have not set up to forward all the ports to your cctv as it shows in your network setup page image of your cctv system where it says server port and mobile port you need to froward these and the http port using your router to your cctv so for example if you cctv system is listed as 192.168.1.68 as its internal ip on your router then you will need to forward the server port 1 , mobile port 1 and http port 80 to your cctv system 192.168.1.68 so yours will go more or less like this port range will be 1-1 tranlate to will be 1-1 tcp 1-1 1-1 udp 1-1 1-1 tcp 80-80 80-80 udp 80-80 80-80 like i have done in mine although i changed my http port from 80 to 1234 have a look at my images so your private ip will be the ip of your cctv system your protocol type will be all public start port will be 1-1 public end port will be 1-1 then do the same forwarding http port 80 your protocol type will be all public start port will be 80-80 public end port will be 80-80 then you need to type in your external ip address of your internet by going to http://www.whatsmyipaddress.org and getting your ip address if you have a dyndns ip then use that you just need to remember if you are using internet explorer to view your camaras you will need to download the activex controls for remote viewing then type in the ip in address so for example if your external ip is 182.173.65.124 then in address bar type the following with the http port at the end http://182.173.65.124:80/ it is the same for your dyndns account type in the address eg i thing your in the image is http://newageplumbing.dyndns.org:80/ type that into the address bar after down loading the active x controls but to download the you go to iternet options and security custom level and get the following enable all 3 then type in ip http://newageplumbing.dyndns.org:80/ and install activex controls to get the cameras come up if it works this way then it should work on an app on your phone by typing in the correct information in the correct boxses. although our cctv systems are different as min is a pc based cctv system and i cannot get my cctv on a phone yours should be different if you have been told you can use that app to pull up your cctv then if your cctv works through the internet explorer from doing what i told you it should work on your app on your phone once you type the correct info into each box on the app

    Remote Access Problems

Hi i am clarkep i can maybe help with this problem the first thing you need to do is go to your dvr's menu screen and locate the network part on the menu and find where it says the http port as you will need this also if their are any other port numbers you will need those to you will also need the external ip address of your router this can be found by going to http://www.whatsmyipaddress.org you then go to your routers gateway page and port forward all the ports listed under the network part on the menu of your dvr and port forward the ports to your dvr after that is done you then go to internet explorer and enable three activex controls under the security settings on internet explorer then once that is done you then type in your external ip address as follows (eg) http://213.139.69.221:put http port number here followed by/ then press enter a drop down box should appear below the tool bars at the top of the screen you then click it and download the activex controls you enabled earlier you will then see 4 small blank screens on your computer screen like the one in the example below you then click on the icon to the left of the hammer and i login box appears just login with your dvr's login info and the external ip and tick the socket port tick box and then click ok and the cameras will appear. if you need help email me on peterclarke1989@hotmail.com

    KVM Suggestion

hi clarkep here again just wanted to mention when using a kvm plugged into your computer and cctv server of course as far as i know you can only control one computer at a time through the one monitor but when you swich to the cctv server to view the cameras using the kvm you can actually see the camera screens they will not be blank screens where the cameras are supposed to be like you get on software of the internet that allows you to remote connect to any computer when you try to view your cameras. P.s. hope you found the pictures i put on my last reply to you of my kvm useful and the pictures of the kvm I think you will need useful as well.

    KVM Suggestion

Hi clarkep here I have a kvm swich box my self it allows me to connect my home cctv computer and my family computer to one hdmi screen by a dvi cable and allows me to use one mouse and keyboard to control both computers but i can only control one computer at a time my kvm also allows me to connect perferals (eg) printer or scanner (etc) and use them with both computers here are two pictures of my kvm swich box one of the back the other of the front. to do what you want to do though you will need a kvm that connects to the computers by ethernet ports as you can control more than 2 computers through 1 screen with those ones and because you can get ethernet cables that are alot longer than dvi cables can go i have included a picture of the type of one you should be looking for but you will have to contact avocent and they will help you choose the one you need for your requirements. here are the pictures of the type of one you will need one pic of the back and one pic of the front. i will have to add the pic of the back of the kvm you will need on another post.

    Software problem. Please Help

hi clarkep here i dont know if you are using the internet browser internet explorer to view your cameras online but if you are then the reason why your getting a white screen when you try to view the cameras on internet explorer on windows 7 is because you have'nt completed or done the activex setup. let me ask you something does the screen you get when trying to view your cameras on windows 7 look like the one below with the following text which i have circled in red and put at the end of this sentence - to enable control work:tools-> internet:options-> security-> custom level Reset to: Low Or Download . if it does say that somewhere on the screen then then you hav'nt completed or done activex setup but ic you need help just let me know and i will try to help you because i know how to do activex setup.
  10. acitvex is what you use to view the cameras on internet explorer over the internet from anywhere in the world once it is setup so you can do that. but to answer your question you can get a cctv system that runs with windows xp, windows 7 and there are cctv companies that do cctv systems that can run on mac you just need to look for them.

    DVR with programmable outputs

To do what you want to be able to do you will need either a standalonde dvr or a pc based cctv system these can be connected to the internet by an ethernet port connected to a wireless router so you can then use the built in cctv system software to set up a remote connection by port forwarding some ports from of the cctv system software to ip address of your cctv system on your wireless router. Then once the port forwarding is done you then go to a website called www.whatsmyipaddress.org and find out what your external ip address is it might look something like this 113.139.35.222 then once that is done go to iternet explorer and go to tools, internet options, security and custom level then you enable the following activex controls - download signed activex controls, download unsigned activex controls, initialize and script activex controls not marked as safe for scripting then once you have enabled those activex controls you then need to type in the external ip address into internet explorers address bar along with one of the port numbers from the cctv system software which is normally set to a default of 80 and is the http port so the ip address you would type into internet explorer would look like this http://113.139.35.222:80/ then press enter a box should apear beneath the tool bars at the top of the screen right click it and click download activex controls then once that is done all you need to do is login to view your cameras online anytime from anywhere in the world you can watch them live or watch back what they have recorded on previous days although you will need to keep the dvr on to bring the cameras up on the internet.
  12. so long as your happy with it thats ok.................. so what is your problem with the software ??? there is nothing wrong with the software i just want to know the name of the company that makes that specific software and also which cctv system software's would you say is high end.
  13. hey tomcctv if you mean am i a cctv installer no i am not but it is not low end and also i have caught plenty of people with this software and my bullet cameras like i have caught my neighbour peeoing through my front window at night and we are not even friends either also i have caught a boy at night with the software and the boy had climed over our fence got into our back garden and wandered around the outside of our house but any way what cctv system software would you say is high end then. regards clarkep

    In a pinch..

you could try some bullet cctv cameras there different ones some bullet cameras cover a small area and others cover a wider area also they all have a different quality picture the bullet cameras that cover a wider area are the better quality ones when it comes to their pictures but you will need their to be light to get a good picture as with bullet cameras they have not got infa red but i think you can get bullet cameras with infa red but your better getting flood light for extra security now when it comes to cctv systems you can get standalone cctv systems and pc based cctv systems i have a pc based system my self with windows xp it has a 1 terabite hard drive and 4 bullet cameras one of which is wireless and they are all set to record by motion detection also i have set my cctv system up so i can pull it up over the internet using internet explorer just by typeing in an ip address i can pull my cameras up from anywhere in the world and see what is happening back home on the cameras live or by watching what the cameras have recorded on previous days as well all whilst i am on holiday.
  15. bigbrother are the owners if your taking of the uk company. let me ask you something can you use ip cameras bigbrothersystems LTD are not the owners and yes they are a uk company i know this because they get the cctv system software from someware else but yes i believe the software does work with ip cameras as i have set my system up so i can bring my cameras up on the internet using internet explorer just by typeing in an IP address.
