You'll be lucky to find a one camera dvr set for under £200, that is any good. Regarding the use of, 'powerline adaptors’, in a garage. Test it first as it might be on a different wiring loop meaning that the signal might not be very strong, either up stairs or down. I recommend the use of cat5 wherever possible.

Normally, that option is in: System / System Tools / Clean HDD (or similar) Unfortunately as the DVR is very old the manual is no longer available on its product page: http://www.avtech.com.hk/eng/avc760.htm. You could try emailing the manufacturer for it? First thing I would do is try a new IDE cable, then failing that a different HD.

Was it formatted in the DVR when you first installed it?? Have you tried formatting it via the DVR control panel?

Hi, although I’m not familiar with this unit, it’s limitations will most likely be firmware related. I’d contact to manufacture direct, and ask them for specifics and maybe a firmware update. Try emailing them on: info@gesecurity.com

And they are normally over priced and under performers, with no expandability potential.

If I were you I’d pop into a CCTV shop for a demo of different products, to actually see how they perform

Unless someone can donate me one, I don't have the finances to purchase a replacement unit But you are right, I am dissapointed regarding the support I am getting regarding the unit I do have. Have you tried connecting a new/different camera direct to the back of the DVR on a small length of fresh cable?
