There were no lights on by the house except one streetlight about 150ft away across the street. Will PM you about price.

Best type of cameras for the home.

Look at camera one on my home. I just replaced it with this new one. See if you like the quality. Look at Camera 1 (Fr Door) viewtopic.php?f=5&t=26825

    Basic CCTV system design recommendation

Why don't you a get a Dahua DVR? They are full D1 and cheaper then the Samsung?

See my porch, Help me Choose a Camera

Well. It looks like a big porch. So I think you will need more then 1 camera. You want to see face shots or just see if someone is there? Look at these cameras: 1) Empire ESC1, ESC3, ESC4 (I have used the ESC4 with great results, See my post below) viewtopic.php?f=5&t=26825 2) CNB Monalisa (Very popular with forum Members, I'm sure others will chime in)

    Newbie Here

I would get 700tvl cameras. I have tried the Effio chip set and was very impressed. Get some varifocal Effio cameras and you should be very happy. See post: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=26825 Also if you think your DVR is no good try out a Dahua DVR. They are fairly good price and many forum memebers like them.

Looking for an outdoor camera for our cold winters.

I agree that analog may be better. It is cheaper and you can have multiple cameras for close ups. The IP cams blur out when you zoom in to close. I'm guessing the analog sample is from a not a very good analog camera. Try an Effio chip and see how much better it would be. Sure the colors are great in IP but that's really not important in surveillance, detail is and a good analog camera could do the trick.
  7. The colors are not perfect. However the image detail I think is most important. If you look at the truck's lettering the first two cameras (Ultrak, Samsung) you can barely read the phone number off the truck. The CNB does better and I think the Effio w/ IR cut filter does very good also. Leave the cams out at night so we could see night time performance in this same setting. Thanks.
  8. The Gadspot camera overexposes not the Empire. The Gadspot has no OSD menu and it is bad at nighttime. The Empire on the other hand is one of the best images I have seen during the night.
  9. Umm... No hurricane here, only little earthquake. Can i get one to test? I will be in touch If you survive hurricane
  10. Can i get one to test? Me to. I love testing new stuff.
  11. Its more green then it should be. However this camera doesn't overexpose the faces at night as the Gadspot cameras had during the night. Should I switch to a CNB?
  12. Here is a picture from the day. You can see how much cleaner the left camera is compared to the right.

    CCTV for bottom of garden

The CNB Monalisa camera (VCM-24VF) would probably work well if you have some light to work with. The camera is ultra low lux and many forum members here are very happy with it. The camera is varifocal so you can zoom in on what you want to see.

    CNB VCM-24VF Outdoors ??

Sorry I don't have access to one at this time to get you a sample image. Do you have any video or pics I can see taken from this camera?

    Low light camera's

See my post about my new camera. The nighttime seems to be excellent. Look at Fr Left vs. standard IR camera (Fr Right). viewtopic.php?f=5&t=26825
  16. I'm glad everyone is impressed. I am looking to replace the garage cam (Camera 3). I'am really strongly considering the Empire ESC3 which is 2.8-12mm varifocal and has the same Effio-E chip as (Camera 1). It is more then a third cheaper then the CNB Monalisa. Unless the CNB Monalisa can see better then Camera 1 at night I really think it may very well have met its match.
  17. I bet it would look better in D1. This is an IR camera, yes. That's why I'am so impressed.
  18. This DVR is CIF The camera was left in automatic mode for day/night settings. The yellow light in camera 1 is from a streetlight about 75 feet away. The camera is fixed lens. The settings were pretty much left alone at default.

    1st system set-up help

Yes the yellow RCA port on your tv is for video. The red and white is for audio.

    CNB VCM-24VF Outdoors ??

That camera needs to be refocused during the night. Add a camera for the front door in the door frame by the doorbell not in the door. http://www.seco-larm.com/EV-5105-N1SQ.htm
  21. I don't think so, but anythings possible right? Typically when you run audio cable its shielded cable so you shouldn't experience a problem. Post some pictures of you handy work.
  22. Yes, you can bury 100m of RG59 in PVC conduit. Only remember to use waterproof connectors and sealant.
  23. 22/2 should be fine for 500 mA or less for each camera. Anymore and you should upgrade. Otherwise it should work fine.

    CNB VCM-24VF Outdoors ??

I like it. Good job! I would have put a second camera closer to the front door also for better face shots, but yours is much better then I thought it would. Can you show a nighttime face shot? Thanks.
  25. How cheap are we talking about? $10 a camera? $40? I think its always better to spend a little more and get quality. Cheap cameras only work well for general "observation" which means you will probably only be able to see if someone is on your property and not who is on it. Are you wanting to recognize people or just check on your property? How high are you going to mount the cameras? All these questions will determine what equipment can be recommended.
