  1. I agree that analog may be better. It is cheaper and you can have multiple cameras for close ups. The IP cams blur out when you zoom in to close. I'm guessing the analog sample is from a not a very good analog camera. Try an Effio chip and see how much better it would be.

Sure the colors are great in IP but that's really not important in surveillance, detail is and a good analog camera could do the trick.

  2. The colors are not perfect. However the image detail I think is most important. If you look at the truck's lettering the first two cameras (Ultrak, Samsung) you can barely read the phone number off the truck.

The CNB does better and I think the Effio w/ IR cut filter does very good also. Leave the cams out at night so we could see night time performance in this same setting.

    Thanks.

    Cool.

Can see the colors are off with the tree in the back on the Effio-E

But thats common for not having an IR cut.

We need to maybe start a test sub forum

  3. The CNB Monalisa camera (VCM-24VF) would probably work well if you have some light to work with. The camera is ultra low lux and many forum members here are very happy with it. The camera is varifocal so you can zoom in on what you want to see.

  4. Thanks for the test, this is the kind of stuff that I think is pretty cool. I will have one similar test starting tomorrow, I was going to start today but my 24 VAC transformer blew. Actually I was going to start it yesterday but my laptop kept jacking up. This has been a very aggravating weekend.

I'm glad everyone is impressed. I am looking to replace the garage cam (Camera 3). I'am really strongly considering the Empire ESC3 which is 2.8-12mm varifocal and has the same Effio-E chip as (Camera 1). It is more then a third cheaper then the CNB Monalisa. Unless the CNB Monalisa can see better then Camera 1 at night I really think it may very well have met its match.

  5. Thats good. Any chance of getting full D1 screen images

    This DVR is CIF

Looks good!! I will be able to see for my self next week, but that camera does look very nice! Very crisp for sure.

Is it in B/W or color in the picture (upper-left)? Because I see some yellow from a street light?

Is that zoomed all the way out? Oh, maybe this is a fixed model.

Also, what are your settings like? Does this one have the WDR? What kind of IR?

The camera was left in automatic mode for day/night settings.

The yellow light in camera 1 is from a streetlight about 75 feet away.

    The camera is fixed lens.

The settings were pretty much left alone at default.

  6. A few days ago there a forum topic about a 700tvl camera vs. a CNB Monalisa. Having the 700tvl camera in question from that seller / manufacturer I though it would be interesting to show the image quality. While I do NOT have a CNB Monalisa to compare with, I do want to show how the camera compares to those I do have.

    Cameras:

    #1 = Sony 700tvl Effio-E 3.6mm Fixed Lens (Empire ESC4)

    #2 = Sony 520tvl HAD 3.6mm Fixed Lens (Gadspot GS658B)

    #3 = Sony 480tvl Super HAD 4mm Fixed Lens (Atrix DVCCMDNV665H)

    #4 = (SAME AS #2)

P.S: This picture from a very rainy day at 8:05PM today.

I'm very interested in your feedback.

  7. Yes, you can bury 100m of RG59 in PVC conduit. Only remember to use waterproof connectors and sealant.

    Dear All,

    I'm a newbie ,

I will bury 40-50 RG59U cable(no electric cable) in one PVC conduit(main hold) in 100m distance. Does it will have the interference to each-other of cable?

    I appropriate any recommendations " title="Applause" /> .

    Thanks

  8. How cheap are we talking about? $10 a camera? $40? I think its always better to spend a little more and get quality. Cheap cameras only work well for general "observation" which means you will probably only be able to see if someone is on your property and not who is on it. Are you wanting to recognize people or just check on your property? How high are you going to mount the cameras?

All these questions will determine what equipment can be recommended.

    Hello

I want to build a low-price system using some cheap 4-channel DVR and 1/3 inch 400-500 tvl cameras. What DVRs and cameras will you recommend?
