Hi Folks I'm embarking on a project for a mega supermarket that we'll employ 74 2megapixel cameras from a Chinese manufacturer and we'll be using Luxriot VMS. Please note that we have done a similar project before with great result but with only 24 cameras connected to Luxriot VMS via Onvif/Rtsp, where I used core i7 8g with a gigabyte board. Now, which high end PC do you think can drive this cameras without any hiccups? I am presently considering ASRock 2U12L6SC-2TS6 2U Rackmount Server Barebone Dual LGA 2011 Intel C602 DDR3 1600/1333/1066 found at newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816135001&cm_re=xeon_e5_4600-_-16-135-001-_-Product I also plan to use seagate NAS storage drive STBP16000200 for recording. Also, I plan to use 4 24 ports TPLink Gigabyte Switches to segment the network for efective throughput (Actually, I've not done it like this before). Please, your contribution is highly welcome.

@Tomcctv Pls what are the mistakes you have noticed? We believe motion detection will conserve disk space on the long run How will more switches make the design work better? Can you pls air your view on the proposed design? You will require around 73 TB RAID 5/6 storage space, since you plan to record 74 FullHD Cameras for 30 Days. And yes, it's on MD of 50-60% By the way - you can do all the calculations using Luxriot's web site and Luxriot's Online calculator to see most optimal hardware requirements: http://www.luxriot.com/eng/support/calculators/ ( Don't forget to hit "estimate" when you select frame rate and resolution) @AlexJ We can always alter the recording resolutions in case we need to. AlexJ, We usually use Luxriot VMS Motion Detection recording and at about that 50%/60% freq, we usually transmitt @25fps. Sincerely, I realy don't understand the network traffic palava, I hope you guys will help me out. Tentatively, me and my team have just come with design we think could work effectively. Kindly take a look at the attache image and criticise it for any further fine-tunning. I quite appreciate your posts so far. thank you all!

Thank you AlexJ, We plan to use 16Tb of disk storage which we think could give us at least 30days of recordings comewhatmay. Can you pls recommend a Raid drive bay for us? Then do you think we have a perfect design in place? Thanks once again!

Hi friends, I would appreciate your professional advice on a project I'm about to commence. I have designed a 4 cameras system to be installed over a very large dumping site. I am considering speed dome cameras like Axis 233d or Acti speed dome. I already have Aver 4ch NVR. All the cameras would be connected to NVR via wireless radio network. I am yet to decide on which radio/antennae to employ. All the cameras + radios will be powered with solar panel connected with battery. A single pole will carry; the solar panel + battery, the radio+antenna, the speed dome camera each. I plan to establish remote connections to the office of the management via internet. They will need to be able to view and control the cameras remotely via the internet. Now, I want your inputs before I start making purchases; I have not done this kind of project before and I don't want to make any mistake. How do you see this design? What other things can make it better? What brands have you tested and can recommend or brands I should avoid? I will appreciate all your kind response here. Thanks

@Ilkie, thanks. I have not used wireless equipment that works at 5GHz frequency before, but I will certainly attempt it this time as Hardwired as also advised the same. But let me ask u, which of the 3 frequencies you mentioned will give me the best result and what are their differences? @Hardwired, For the solar power system, I planned to use 200 watts solar panel that will be connected to 160Ah battery on each pole to power the Camera & the Radio, wont that be enough to power the system round the clock? Because of the volatile nature of the place, we can not suggest many cameras as they will be too conspicuous hence be subjected to vandals; it is a wastes incineration and recycling site. I believe the four cameras will be effectively controlled from the remote office & I think the ability to pan & zoom would make them effective. The longest distance from the NVR base to any camera is 700 meter, so I think any other good radio should do the work in case I cant lay my hands on Ubiquitis equipments as I doubt their availability in Nigeria; I know of TP-Link, Microtik, Senao and some other few ones. Hi Folks, Pls I need help! I recently ordered some mini dome IP Cameras from one of my faithful suppliers of CCTV Cameras from Shenzhen in China. I plan to use them with Aver (Avermedia) NXU8000 NVR Software. I have used the same NVR software before, to connect IP Cameras from the same supplier - Surway Technologies, then, the ip cameras were 1.3MP; I connected via RTSP from inside the Aver NVR & it worked fine. Now, I was told the new ip cameras support both RTSP & Onvif, when I told them I can't get RTSP to connect the Cameras after much efforts, they said I should use Onvif. I have used every trick I think I know, but these cams are not working via the Aver NVR software. I can only view them via IE. I checked the Cameras config, the RTSP is checked & it port numbered 554 as expected. Besides IE, I can only view these cams via their supplied CMS software which uses up 100% of my CPU & make the pc drag after about 4mins of launch. Can anyone here help me, I'm ready to use either the RTSP or ONVIF if I can get a way to work round them. Thanks

Hi, I don't know if anyone has experienced this before? I have used two different NVR softwares on windows 7 with the same challenge. After I connect all the 12 ip cameras, the system will indicate 100% CPU usage and things will begin to drag. The images from the cameras will begin to slag especially once I connect the System to the 32inch Screen. At first, I was thinking that the brandless CMS software that was bundled with the 2.0mp ip cams was the problem but now, I am using NVR+ and I still have the same problem. I have even tried the NVR Softwares on Win Xp but its still the same challenge. I am using Dell Optiplex 320; 3ghz Dual core, 3gb memory & ATI Radeon Video Card with 512mb in the PCIE slot.

I think in addition to video compression process & video rendering capability of your display device, speed of communication between the devices also contribute to the little delay that occurs in ip video transmission, if your network is well designed with every factor put in consideration, you may have an almost realtime video feeds over the LAN. Also, if you are viewing from remote end, the quality of bandwith available for streaming will determine the quality and promptness of the video feeds.

Hi Guys, Please I need your view on this issue: I'm invited to be part of the design of a CCTV systems for an Hotel facility that have a very large area, well-fenced with the building centrally placed in the middle. We need about 7 cameras to watch the perimeter but will have to be about 140-160 meters apart and about 100-140m from the control room. It all must be IP cams and NVR How best do you think we can achieve this? Your kind advice will be appreciated.

Ah! I'm having them in stock, I bought about 5 pcs recently from Aver hqtrs in Taiwan. That is why I'm considering them. Internet connection over here is very expensive, although I have it as my 2nd option in case the client can't afford the 1st option of mast/wireless.

Hi Techies, Please I need help in designing a CCTV systems that need to connect 2 different locations together in an urban area; the 2 locations will need 4 cameras each and the cameras from each site must be viewable from both ends. In my design so far, I recommend 120 feet mast at one end to create a point-to-point wireless connection to link these two sites together and 2 4ch network enabled DVRs (Avermedia) since both are residential though one is used for office and other home. Please what do you suggest?

I'm planning to use EBNet 1304 dvrs, then connect it together via wireless radios with mast installed at one end to have a good line-of-sight. Then he'll access the home dvr via his office pc or laptop and office dvr via his laptop. What do u all think? Your kind advice will be appreciated.

Hi, I'm on an installation of an NVR system. I'm thinking of using 2 pairs for video and the other 2 pairs for Power by allotting each pair to both live and neutral respectively. I plan to use the 'power pair' as an extension of the 12v/5v DC adapters for the cameras. The shortest of my camera is about 20 meter long. Do you think I'm on the right path? Please I need your advice! Thanks....

Thanks guys, I'm going to commence the installation tomorrow. I so much appreciate your inputs. Then, I've got another question, among the cameras I'm using for this installation, I've some of the cameras using 5v DC and most of them are using the regular 12v DC adapter. Now I'm thinking of centralizing the power distribution by using the regular PC power pack for the power supply, how do you see this? Also, I'm concerned about the Amperage. The 5v adapter requires 2.5A while the 12v needs 2A, will the Amperage from the regular power supply be good enough to power the cams? Thanks for ur usual aids.

Thanks soundy, My problem is laying my hands on a PoE switch as it's not readily around. I live in Nigeria and I'll definately need to place an order for it, which might cost me additional 2 weeks or thereabout to wait, which my client does not want to hear, but instead I'm thinking of using 4 of the 8 pieces of Cat 6 cables, pairing them in 2s to power the cameras while having their camera 12v adapter plugged to the power source. Will it ever work that way? or can anyone here advice me better?

Hi, I recently ordered for Avermedia NXU Dongle with some of their low profile IP cams to set up a 16 Channel NVR systems. I also along the line ordered for some IP PTZ Cams from Surway Tech in China for the job. Now, on setting up the system, I realized that I can't find any protocol to work with my PTZ cams from Surway on the NX Software, and I easily configured the all the Avermedia IP Cams. Using the web browser, I can vividly see the pictures from all the Surway cams and pan/tilt them but not on the Avrmedia's NXU Software. Please, is there any way I can manually configure it to work? Also, I noticed that all the cams from Surway Tech does not have any brand on them even, I tried open one of them to check for main chip with name but none. Pls what do I do?
