  1. We have a unattended guard shack, I need #1 one dome camera that will record voice also by the call box, so when someone pulls up and goes through the list and calls the reality company, the reality company can then say state your name and phone number I will then let you in. I want this recorded on to the DVR

I also need #2 a camera that will record the car's license plate as is headed toward the entrance gate, the gate is only about 50 ft from the call box and the speed of the car will be max 2 mile per hour for a short time, most likely the car will need to wait at gate for the gate to open.

Number #3 will be watching cars as they enter through the exit gate

I was told a good mega pixel camera will capture a license plate and I won't need a license plate camera.

I had someone from a security service tell me I should use these. I think they are analog,. I like the POE stuff so much better and heard they are doing away with all analog cameras in OCT 2015

    I need 2 Honeywell HB75 bullet cameras

    I need 1 Honeywell HD31WH dome camera

I need 1 Honeywell HRGX 4 channel DVR with 1 TB HDD

whole system cost a little over 2 thousand -------------- PLEASE TELL ME A BETTER WAY

  2. Someone gave this to me,

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/274911-REG/Marshall_V_1255_V_1255_Color_Board_Camera.html

I'm wanting to know if there are any DIY hobby kind of guys here have ever experimented with this camera.

    Here the Specs on it.

    http://www.ktechuk.com/ktprod/ktmarsh/ktmarsh_opt_data_ccd/v1255bnc.htm

The specs look good to me, but I'm a newbie, so I don't know enough to be a good judge.

  4. I need RS-485/PTZ serial port support, and this is worth looking into, I'm trying this now and I like it

I have 3 Pelco cameras with RS-485/PTZ and a Axis 241Q video server

Thanks for that recommended website. Just giving it a try now.

Theres LOADS of software out there that are good, However they dont support the pelco cameras with RS-485/PTZ support but saying that, ZoneMinder http://www.zoneminder.com is free and configged via a web browser but with Linux is a touch and go with DVR Cards!

  5. Heres some software i have tryed out that might help you (the past few years)

    1) iCatcher Console been using this for about a year now with 2 monitors pci capture card, Features i like is it has good motion detection with a + when the motion is set off and also shows you how many FPS with the time and date stamped. HOWEVER the software is pricey as you talking about: but if your wiling to spend 2 Cameras £139.95 and the max they do is 32 Cameras £799 I would recommend it but before you decided anything give the 21 trial ago as some people have reported that they get slow fps from it but the way to get around that is: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=32497

Website: http://www.icode.co.uk/icatcher/products/console.html - Also before i decided to buy iCatcher, I was using WebcamXP is a good DVR but sadly it dont support RS-485/PTZ serial port feature. but cost £82 for a pro license.

    2) H264 WebCam http://www.h264soft.com I had a test at this but unforchantly the alerts to my email address wasn't going thought and i ditched this but nice software! Also no RS-485/PTZ serial port feature another reason why i didnt buy it

    3) Same with http://www.abelcam.com but this is for more like IP Cams again no RS-485/PTZ serial port suppot.

I am also willing to try out more software if anyone has any but with RS-485/PTZ serial port needs to be supported.

  7. I have 2 - AXIS 241Q's video servers and a good Win7 64 bit PC Dual core with processor speed of 2.2Ghz.

I have 3 Pelco spectra III domes

I have been trying the EXACQ software and PELCO software I'm not crazy about either one of these yet.

This is new to me, I'm learning it pretty good so far. There are so many other things to know.

Would someone tell me about a NVR software that they like a lot?

I would like to try other software packages also, if I need to buy a license I guess

I will do that. I would like to try a 30 day trial first

    Any ideas?

Hmm do u want me to recommend Avigilon to you again ?

If I remember right, your software ***** for a license for 4 cameras

    I'm I correct?

Send me a link to try the Avigilon software out, you do have a trial version right?

  11. What are your CPU specs?

Digital Sentry is the Pelco brand NVR software, its reliable and should fit your situation - I use it with 8 Spectra III's and am quiet content.

I believe you can download it for free "And best of all, DS NVs can be downloaded from our web site free of charge and comes with four free licenses for Pelco IP cameras or encoders." -Pelco site

    Digital Sentry Page: http://www.pelco.com/sites/global/en/products/video-management-solutions/digital-sentry.page

I can't find the download URL, I usually go to their online community instead of bouncing around their site which is http://www.pelco.com/community - if DS isn't for you they will recommend a different one for you. Hope this helps, cheers.

WHAT type of 4 ch encoder are you using?

  14. I have 2 Axis 241Q, both are a little buggy and seem to work right only part of the time. I have 3 Pelco III dooms with PTZ all with Model DD53CBW cameras

I want to use the EXACQ NVR (Network Video Recorder) software to record motion from cameras. I have a stand alone Win7 64 bit PC that I upgraded just for this.

I'm thinking of selling both of the 241Q servers and getting something that is user friendly and is rock solid

Does anyone have an idea of a better way to go, one license from Exacq for a Axis 241q that has 4 camers is hard to beat.

    Any Ideas?

Sell Axis encoders and get Avigilon 4 ch encoders

need only one Lic per one encoder with their software

I need a good working NVR software, I was looking at using Exacq , I noticed

they don't support the brand Avigilon.

I'm looking for good NVR software and a 4 ch encoder

THANK YOU, I will look into this

  17. Video Modulators

Modulators are used to “modulate” an audio/video signal into a RF signal that can be fed into the house video distribution system. Modulation is primarily used for video cameras, but can also be used to distribute signals from a VCR or DVD player.

However, the future of modulators is very blurry (no pun intended). In the past, there was plenty of spare room on cable systems, so it was easy to modulate signals into blank channels. Now though, most cable systems do not have unused channels so there is little space to put a modulated channel. There are special “notch” filters that block a set of incoming channels, allowing modulated signals to be inserted instead. This works well, if the user can find a block of channels that are not wanted. Also, modulators do NOT co-exist well with digital cable signals. If you have digital cable, forget about using a modulator.

Finally, there is the upcoming switch from analog broadcast channels to digital. As TV manufacturers stop making sets with analog tuners, where will modulators fit in? Stay tuned.

For any place where you might want a modulator, make sure to run Coax back to the wiring closet. Very few people have complained about running too much Coax, but MANY people have complained about not running enough.

If you run a wire for a modulator, consider running a Cat-5E also. There are adaptors for running composite video signals over Cat-5E. The Cat-5E will also work if you use an IP camera.

Consider using IP cameras. They don’t fit well into the current analog RF world, but are much more likely to interface in the coming digital world.

Consider having 2 (or more) Coax feeds to each location. Many TVs now have multiple inputs, allowing you to use one input for cable, and the other for your own private network of modulators
