  1. Hi Guys, Finally, my long awaited TCM1231 has arrived. For VMS, I'm still comtemplating between ExacqVision and MileStone. However, main problem now is the camera setup. Hope you guys can take a look and give some opinions on the settings. The camera in the car poach is good. However, the one at the backyard is very bad. Hope someone can provide me on some tips to improve the quality. (Can't install more lights anynmore) Thank you Nycky Car Poach Backyard:[ Thank you Nycky
  2. Oh, if that's the case, guess i'll still be better off with COTS together with the Pro License. Thanks !
  3. I think they just updated the site again. exacqVision Start VMS Software Part Number Description START-01 exacqVision Start software - single IP camera license START-04 exacqVision Start software - 4-pack Start licenses START-08 exacqVision Start software - 8-pack Start licenses START-16 exacqVision Start software - 16-pack Start licenses SSA-START-01 One Year Start Software Upgrades START-PRO Upgrade Upgrade exacqVision Start license to eaxcqVision Pro license I think we can purchase the licenses now. Btw, how much is a : 0800-24-START-2000-ELSR EL-SR 8-channel Hybrid Appliance with exacqVision Start - 2000 GB I'm thinking of getting that rather than spending money on an Axis 241Q which only outputs 5fps at full D1 while this Hybrid outputs 30FPS at full D1. Correct me if i'm wrong. Cheers Nycky
  4. What do you mean that Start will only work with Exacq Hardware ?
  5. Hey Guys, Just to check, for the new exacqvision start, it is only available with the NVR? I can't install on my PC? TWG: I remember you saying $50/channel ? Thanks Nycky
  6. So if this is the case, if i record all 4 channels on the ACTi ACD2000Q, i would be able to get 7FPS each while for the Axis 241Q, i'll get 30/4 = 7.5FPS each ?
  7. When you are viewing the encoder directly you are only viewing one stream. When you have Exacq connected Exacq is pulling 4 streams. Ah hah. So i guess this is as good as it gets? I need to upgrade to IP soon... Damm, so no matter which encoder i get, I still cant get above 5fps ?
  8. Dear Alpine, Thank you for sharing. It was lucky for me that you've just mentioned before I purchased the Axis 241Q. In this case, I guess the ACD-2000Q would be a better choice provided ExacqVision supports it ? Anyway, just an update, I've now installed windows 7 for my NVR and am anxiously waiting for the new ExacqVision software to be revealed this month. Initially I refunded my Hitachi 2TB Deskstar 7200rpm for a WD Caviar Black 2TB. However, after doing some research, I went for another refund and for the price of the Caviar Black, i purchase a 500GB Caviar Blue (For OS) and an AV-GP 2TB (For storing NVR recordings). Let me know what you guys think about this setup. Cheers Nycky
  9. I'll try to see if I can exchange the Hitachi Deckstar to a cheaper 500GB for the operating system and purchase another enterprise hard drive for recording. If I can't, I'll probably just partition the drive. alpine: thanks for the image. TWG: i've seen that data sheet before. However it only states Full Framerate at CIF and not D1. Could u verify before I purchase it ? Also, you were saying u have the 241q for sale, do u ship to Singapore? Thank you.
  10. Damm, those images sure look good for an analog camera. I think the 241q is easy to sell in this forum, however, I live in Singapore and there isn't a forum like this or any community that I'll be able to sell it off quickly. Therefore, I must really think and do through research before committing to the purchase. TWG: any idea when the new $50/channel vms would be coming up ? And how many fps does the 241q has in single mode? So I assume you guys mean that if for example in exacq I have a 4screen layout, with screen 1 as the acd200q (in quad mode), Screen 2,3,4 as ip cameras, in screen 1, the image will further be split into 4miniature screens? Lastly, as mentioned, should I partition my HD or just run vms, OS and recording data on same partition? Thank you all!
  11. Ok then. Seems like exacqvision is the way to go. How should I purchase the licenses ? on the ACD-200Q website, it says Quad Mode/Sequential Mode 30fps At Full D1 http://www.acti.com/download_file/Product/datasheet/ACD-2000Q_ds_0928.pdf For the sed2300q it also says, 30fps at D1 http://www.channelten.co.nz/pdf/sed2300q.pdf I've been looking at both data sheet for quite some time and can't seem to find the difference between ACD2000Q and SED2300Q. One thing to note, I do not need audio. For the ACD2000Q, Can you kindly explain the difference between quad mode and single mode ? Lastly, I have a hitachi deskstar sata3 2tb hard drive. If I want to either install linux or windows for the server, should I partition the drive? Or should I just install the vms, operating system, recorded data on the same partition ? Thank you so much for ur help. Regards Nycky
  12. I just purchased a PoE switch yesterday. Haven't used it yet but looks good. SRW208P-K9 also know as SF302-08P.
  13. Hi, Just wondering what is everyone's take on the above-mentioned? My PC-Nvr would definitely be either Windows or Linux (Ubuntu) connected by HDMI to a television. However, sometimes, remote viewing would be done from Macintosh. I am intending to either get Axis 241Q or ACTi ACD-2000Q. Milestone Supports ACD2000Q (which allows me to save $200 over 241Q) Supports SED2300Q (save another $200 over ACD2000Q) Free Xprotect Go Doesn't support mac remote viewing exacqVision Mac remote viewing Cool iPhone and iPad Apps Doesn't support ACD2000Q (Hve to purchase $750 241Q) The thing is, if I go with milestone, it is generally ok as well if it doesn't have Mac compatibility as i can connect directly to the ip address of the camera using SecuritySpy. Just wanted to hear what people have to say about both Milestone and ExacqVision. Thanks Nycky
  14. Unfortunately, Im also stuck with 4 existing analog cameras. Hence, the need for the video servers. At $50/channel, I guess its a really competitive price. I suppose all consumers would be extremely glad. One question, TWG, do you ship to Singapore? Also, do I necessarily need a Western Digital hard disk for Exacqvision as listed on it's website? I suppose a hitachi hardisk should be able to function as well am I right ? Regards, Nycky
  15. Of course if given a chance, I would like a solution in which allows for CHEAPEST and WORKABLE to be together. I'm sure everyone would agree with me. Based on most of the posts, I can conclude that most people are recommending the Axis 241Q priced at almost $1000. With that amount of money, I can easily purchase 1 or 2 more IP cameras. Therefore, if possible, yes, I might be trying to be a cheapo, but it would be great to be able to save even $500. eBay is also not an option as I've had really bad experience from the second hand market and eBay. Based on where i am located at, ACTi SED2300Q is approx. $300 ACTi ACD2000Q is approx. $500 Axis 241Q is approx. $1000 Wishes are wishes, however, in reality, i guess it might not be as simple as it seems. One thing to note which might be significant, is that I do not need audio for my encoder, if that could save me some money. Therefore, the 2 solutions I am left with are: 1) Milestone Xprotect with either SED2300Q/ACD2000Q/241Q 2) exacqVision VMS with 241Q Please advise. I apologise for my long- windedness but i hope that you guys can understand that i am trying to save as much money as possible. I genuinely thank everyone for their replies and hope that I am able to come to a conclusion soon. P.S: MicroATX or MiniItx for NVR ? Thank you Nycky
