    cut the wrong connector

thanks for the replies i dont have a soldering iron and think the easiest fix is to go with the screw on connector i just ordered a 4 pack from ebay and attached the pic hoping i got the right ones!
  2. hello i've uploaded a pic of 2 dome cameras i've cut the connector off the one on the right, the yellow and black cable need to be terminated again is it repairable using the part i've bought in the packet (bnc to f type coaxial adapter f/m) or do i need something else? if it's repairable is there any youtube vids or something visual to help me please? noob by the way so bear with me, only run 2 cameras so far into a pc based system with an avermedia nv5000 card but i've atleast got it working and remotely accessible by iphone " title="Applause" />
  3. i've had a mare of a day yesterday trying to solder dc connectors and decided there must be an easier way, i cut the dc connector off the camera as i didnt have a suitable connector on the 12v power cable and although i am aware such connectors exist would there be any reason why i couldnt just twist up the black and red wires and wrap them up with insultation tape they will be housed in an ip44 junction box for added protection also, do any of you put dessicant inside the junction boxes to remove any moisture or is that a bit ott?

Can`t connect to DVR from internet

my earlier suggestions regarding dmz and forwarding every port to the dvr should help you work out if the firewall is causing the problem, portforward.com lists pretty much every major vendor's model of router to guide you through the process

Can`t connect to DVR from internet

cant connect to http://92.18.38.176:4000 using ie8 does the dvr support telnet? if so i will try a telnet session linto the dvr later when im home unless anyone wants to try that before i do? i think it might still be the firewall, if it's disabled then it may not be routing to his dvr static lan ip if the firewall is enabled and not correctly forwarding through a port to his static lan ip then i suggest a range of ports or you could try enabled all ports from 1-66555 (is that the last port you can use i dont know but should be good enough to test!) or if you have the option for dmz, enable it to one single lan ip which will be the dvr because this will do the same job as routing all ports, it depends on the make and model of the router, most routers have the dmz option but if not just forward all the ports

Can`t connect to DVR from internet

yes the NAT (network address translation) forms a LAN (local area network) so u can use class c ip address ranges, in other words the NAT allows you to have more than one pc behind the firewall in a private network and you can direct traffic to and from different local ip's using ports, in your case 4000 i just got your pm i'll take a look when out the bath as my iphone prob needs an app which i dont have
  7. are you able to try try adding a 2nd user with admin rights? it could be that the admin account is for standalone use only and wont authenticate LAN or WAN connections

Can`t connect to DVR from internet

ok if all internet traffic is being diverted to the local ip of the DVR then youve ruled out the firewall and it could be a similar issue to what i had with my pc based avermedia dvr the other day i had to enable incoming connections from outside my LAN, it could be the DVR blocking WAN connections as untrusted, are you connecting from the same real world ip or using a remote app to connect to another pc on a different internet connection? if not and u want me to test it from here then pm me your real world ip and port number

try the following for diagnostics a range of ports such as 4000-4010 tcp and udp dmz the firewall to your dvr as a temporary test using http://realworldipaddress:portnumber (use your ip and port number) to rule out if its a firewall issue
  10. try here if youre in the uk [mod edit: store link removed] im new to all this too and just bought 4 cameras from the day/night range
  11. i've just done this myself but would like to add the following if your router supports DDNS (dynamic dns) you can check the option on it and type in your hostname, username and password details that you created with dyndns also, you can register a pro account for just $15 and choose from more host names, my favourite is homeip.net, and dyndns will automatically renew your host name every year and you can have 32 per account, a local security installer currently pays £50 to an I.T firm to provide this per site and so im going to be doing it for them at a lower rate once ive met them to discuss terms
  12. " title="Applause" /> thanks for the replies really appreciate it
  13. i need to solder some dc plugs onto siamese rg59 cable and im unsure where to solder the red and black cables too, when i pull the plastic off there looks like 2 points but i reckon i'd guess tbe wrong way round and damage my camera this link is where i bought them from http://www.sctltd.co.uk/acatalog/DC_Plug.html i have the dcp ones, in hindsight i would of bought the dcppl ones as im new to cctv
