  1. First thing I'd try doing is setting that channel to record constantly, or greatly increasing the motion-detect sensitivity, and see if the glare is simply masking any movement. Does motion record work properly outside of these times? I've seen a couple older IS100 domes cooked from being in direct sunlight all day... so it's always possible.

VCM-25VF would be the PAL version of that camera. Don't know offhand where you'd source them.

THHN wire and RG6 cable in a single conduit...

Well, again, check your local electrical codes - dmiller9 is quoting from the Canadian Electrical Code.

which is power and data in the same cable not data and power (24v) seperate in the same conduit Oh, good catch, I missed that too: same cable =/= same conduit.

THHN wire and RG6 cable in a single conduit...

And thats where you are wrong. Howso? I said it "MAY" depend on the electrical code. Not everywhere follows the same rules as North America. .Your post said nothing about whether or not the power supply output was fused... so again, it MAY depend on the electrical code. Yes, apparently you tricked yourself with it Nobody ever claimed it did. You're taking two separate statements I made and putting them together. 1. Whether you MAY do this depends on local electrical code: true and accurate. 2. You most certainly CAN do it without fear of interference: true and accurate.

THHN wire and RG6 cable in a single conduit...

There is nothing incorrect in my reply based on the info inbyour question.
  7. FWIW, I've seen a lot of weird issues with Vigil and Arecont as well - things like cameras working fine through web but not showing up in Vigil even though they should. Don't get me going on another Arecont rant...

THHN wire and RG6 cable in a single conduit...

Whether you MAY will depend on local electrical code... but you certainly CAN. Interference will depend on the size of field generated around the power wire, and that will be a direct factor of the voltage used *and* the current drawn by the load (current capacity of the power supply is irrelevant - could be a 1A supply, could be capable of drive 100A). A camera shouldn't draw anywhere near enough current to create a large enough field to cause a problem.
  9. I had three 511s that had the imager just "vanish", well after the warranty was up... they replaced all three without question.

Wow, you're right, mine shows 5:52am when it's actually 7:22am here. Unfortunately I don't know if there's anything that can be done about it by board administration - this probably goes back to the webhost.

    wireless mouse with Apollo HD

I've used a wireless mouse with some no-name DVR... needs to be the kind that doesn't have to install drivers, though. I have a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 - works great, and the blue LED works on just about any surface you can find, including glass, mirrors, gloss black...

  17. The "coaxial" jack would be for S/PDIF digital audio out. Normally if it supports input, it would be via the A/V jack, with either a physical switch, or a source-select option in the menus, to toggle between input and output functions.
  18. Depending on what input the modulator has... Personally I'd just check Craigslist or a liquidation store for a portable DVD player that has a/v input... Way more portable than a CRT
  19. Yeah, looks a lot like a bad connection or damaged cable to me - ground loop wouldn't generally cause complete blackout like that.
  20. Negative - that input is RF only, not baseband video. You'd need a modulator of some kind to put the video on a tuneable channel.

Oh yeah... I told the owner about the 120V running the camera... he said his brother had put all the cameras in. I told him he's lucky his brother didn't cost him his business. When we were done, he said his brother wanted the old cameras... to see if he could fix them. Uhhhh... okay man, you have fun with that...

And finally, the fixed cam... looks like a standard Pelco-type housing, mounted upside-down... except this one has vents: Obviously had been some water build-up inside: Fortunately the seal was so poor at the front glass, the water never actually filled the housing... and both cameras still worked!

Alright, went back into the archives... sure I've posted these before, but I dunno where... Got called in to a gas station to assess their setup and install some new cameras. First thing we found were two PTZs and one fixed cam on each side of the pump canopy: Wiring was hideous: First PTZ I checked out was filled with water: The next one wasn't, but didn't appear to be working. Started unwrapping connections to figure out which was power... found this splice between what looked like a power tool cord coming out of the camera, and some solid 18/2 bell wire coming over the edge of the roof. Checked for 12VDC... nothing. Checked for 24VAC... uh... WAT??? :double-facepalm: This is the other end of that bell wire, in the C-store ceiling: And this is a splice in the bell wire, running through a gutter: Found more fun stuff on the roof:

Pretty sure I've seen one or two other threads like that too... couldn't think of what to search them under, though.
