I have the blackjack phone and it works ok. I'm working on several problems. It seems the port is blocked at times by cingular. I can get it to work all the time when tether to the network. I have gotten it to work several times at different days on my phone with 3G, and then next time it wont work without any changes. I must say I still have an older geo with v 7.0, and use MSview that came with my card. I can scan through all my cameras, but there is no choice to jump to a particular camera. I have to flip one by one with the use of the cursor. I also get about a 2 sec picture when on 3G that is because the older version of MSview.

There is a company www.ecamsecure.com . I don't know anything about them, but they have a storage yard close to my warehouse. They have some nice trailers with all in one solution. They have RV trailers so don't know if the cctv trailers go along with a security guard in the rv trailer or just cctv trailer. I would be way too worried about the trailer being stolen, it must cost a fortune, for sure among the easiest most expensive items at a remote yard to steal. They have like 20 rv trailers and 11 cctv trailers at their yard.

I have used the ALTV1224C for 2 years now and it has been great for dual power system 8 of each. The only real drawback is the low amps so if you need heaters and such might be an issue.

The problem with cheap cameras is that it wont last. I played around for kicks with some cheap cameras. I actually got some good pictures with most of them. Not as good as my sanyos 4594. The problem was that of the 3 cheaps I bought from $15.00 to $50.00 not one lasted more than 3 months. And I had all cheaps just inside the warehouse and one even inside the office. I have some sanyos for over 5 years not one problem.

I have an altronix ALTV1224C. I'm really happy with it but have a question regarding its battery ability. Since its both a 12dv and 24ac if the power is disconected will it only power the 12dc? I intalled a UPS instead of a battery because I was not sure of that ability.

I use a remote hard drive. I hide the hard drive somewhere else. Most thieves will not take the time to figure out if the PC DVR is recording on hard drive or remote they would just destroy or take the PC. Route the hard drive cables with the cameras so it will be lost on the bunch.

Most homes have at the very least a crawl space under the roof. There should be an air gap between the roof and the walls for venting covered with some mesh wire. If the customer has a nice home and is also willing to spend a little more on the harder install I would wire all through the crawl space, and install the cameras under the eve if its low or just make a straight vertical drop to each individual camera. I think most residential customers would prefer that to a perimeter pipe.

In my warehouse I have 4 sanyo 4594 that are less resolution than the 4794. I used the a fuji varifocal and my results have been great. I also use 3 sanyo 3972 not day night cameras and 2 samsumg sdc 311. My warehouse is around 120 ft long by 50 ft wide. I can tell you that achieving facial recognition of a strager is very difficult. In order to achieve facial recognition I had to focus in an extremelly small area, the door. I have most cameras setup for general view and then one only on the door for facial recognition. For the outside of the warehous facial recognition was not achievable with only 5 cameras. I set four on general view and one for "car recognition" for my needs this was the best compromise. I did a sketch and used the graphic cctv lens calculator and still had to move some cameras 2 or 3 times to get proper surveillance positions. You professional do have a tough job, camera selection, camera placement, unrealistic customer expectations within budget. So I bought the four sanyo vcc 4594 haven't installed yet waiting on power supply ALT1224c . I have alredy installed 3 sanyo 3972 wich are great. I then bought 2 cheap mini dome board camers. The cheap cameras were more for door intercome picture than anything else so pic quality was not important. I was surprised with the decent picture quality of the cameras, thought nothing to brag about on a tv. I have only connected and used one of them and the problem is that on my gv-800 they look bad. The other cameras look great but not the cheap one. The picture is like that of a tv channel with bad reception has fuzzy lines going all thru the picture the lines seem not to move vertically or horizontally just stacionary in a diagonal pattern. The picture gets better if I put the gv to 320x240 getting worst at 640x480 bad and 720x480 even worst. Its not worth to lower res for those cameras since they dont record importan stuff. I'm now upsted that I wasted my money even if they were cheap it still was some money, movie and cheap dinner. I'm trying to understand the reason more than fix it with the cheap cameras. Is the problem that the camera has such a cheap resolution that the lines are really pixelation from upconverting to 640x480? Any ideas to the problem? Again I know cheap camera just trying to understand the technical problem for knowledge. Thanks

I was looking at the fujinon YV2.8X2.8LA-2-S or the YV2.8X2.8LA-SA2. They seem like the same lens except one is auto irs and the other is manual. I've always just gotten the auto iris, but don't know on the 4594 cameras. Thanks for all the help on walking me through it.

So I bought 4 sanyo 4594. I will use 3 outside and 1 inside the warehouse. What I would like to know now is what specific recomendations of varifocal lens to get. The cameras have better specs with a 1.2 lens and I see 1.4 more common. What should I use for outdoor and for the indoor. If I do decide to use IR light would that make a difference in the lens selection? I was planing on buying one lens at a time so that if I make a mistake its not like 4 mistakes.

I'm seting up a cctv system on my warehouse before the alarm system. So far I have a geovision 800 16 cam card on a dedicated pc. I have 3 Sanyo VCC-3972 with rainbow lenses one 2.8 and two 8 mm. I would like to add 5 more cameras Sanyo specs VCC-3972 12VDC 1/3" Hi Res • Vivid resolution 470 TV lines • High sensitivity, 2 lux at f1.2 lens • Power supply 12V DC (included) • Internal sync/external sync, PLL 2:1 interlace • Backlight compensation and electronic iris • S-video output • CS/C-mount type (adapter included) • Lens optional The sanyo cameras are great in the day, but see nothing at night. My budget is around $300 per camera with lens. I have the outdoor enclosures already so that is not a problem. Since I'm a rookie and make mistakes in placements and lenses I would prefer a 3.8 to 8 mm varifocal lens, it would give me more flexibility and i'm more interested in overall picture more than person recognition. The main purpose of the cameras is to catch employee theft more than outside theft or vandalism. Since I recognize my employees easier than I would a stranger facial recognition is not needed. I need two more for inside the warehouse and 3 for the outside. I would prefer day/night cameras, but would consider getting 3 of them B/W to achieve the budget needed. Of the 3 B/W I would place one indoor and 2 outdoor. The warehous is pitch black at night the outside is light by post lights, but not enough for my color cameras. thanks
