Does the rf modulator have a Test signal, when you can tune it in to a while line etc?

Hi guyz, i have a crappy micromark B/W camera connected to an FM modulater which hooks up to the tv, this works fine.

 

I wanted to connect a colour CCD camera i puchased to it, but all i got was a few wavey lines, can anyone help why this would not work, maybe the frequency was out of the modulators range maybe?

Can you change the RF channel on the modulator, maybe its tuned close to another signal, it needs to be at least 3 channels away from another souce, either that or the the cables kankered.

0.5A how many cameras do you power from this ? and what is the camera draw of each camera, if you have 8 cameras at 200ma (most average internal fixed dome) then no way is 0.5A enough, i bet the PSU are running hot.

I have used that same camera many times, less the IR's. Very decent camera for the $. Low light is pretty bad without the IR's, wonder what it would look like with the IR's at night.

But, what if you want to put it outside?? How could you put that camera in a housing without IR reflection?

sorry kandcorp, i don't have any nightime snapshots but some nightime video, and I know its minimum illumination is 0Lux/F1.2

mount the camera in the front side of housing or remove the glass, IR would be seldom blocked or reflected

What sort of CCTV system is it? Residential or Domestic? Fixed cameras or functional? Video Recorder or Digital? the list of variables is very long.
