Western Digital Red 2TB drives, anyone using these yet?

Yeah I looked at those Green Western Digital AV drives but saw a few online negative comments such as this: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27782 So that's why I'm looking into the Red Western Digital drives.
  2. Looking at picking up a couple more drives for my Dahua DVR and was looking at the Western Digital Red 2TB drive, Mfr Part Number: WD20EFRX. Anyone have real world experience with these in a DVRs? Any feedback, positive or negative? Thanks.

Dahua PSS v4.06 any feed back?

Currently running PSS v4.05 on my computers for my QVIS dvr and it's all working great. Is PSS v4.06 worth the time to install? Any bad bugs in it? What has changed? Sorry, couldn't find what changes were made for v4.06. Also I'm going to be changing over to Windows 7 64bit on my computers from Windows XP-Pro 32bit and was looking for any input on running PSS on a Windows 7 64 bit computer. Any problems or hiccups I should expect moving from Windows XP-Pro? Just a quick note to thank the people responsible for this website and forum. Bought my DVR from one of the sponsors here and glad I did because I got stuck on a couple of really dumb things I could not figure out and he solved my problems in about 10 seconds where I could have spent hours or days figuring it out. Just recently I had a bad night time situation happen and because of the QVIS dvr that I had bought and installed I was able to identify the vehicle involved, tracked down the individual and defused a scary situation that could have spiraled into something much worst. This forum is a great source of information that has helped me immensily! Thank you to all that contribute and support this site!

ADATA APPOLO ZEUS8 (DAHUA) Forgotten password.

FWI; This is what is posted over on the Dahua website help section by a Dahua tech guy whenever someone no longer knows their password: " power off your dvr, then power on,the user will be unlock. disconnect the button-cell battery one second in the mainboard, then the time on DVR will be 2000-1-1, the password is 000000,user:admin.now you can login the local dvr, change the password you want, then change the time. " or this: "disconnect the button-cell battery in the mainboard one second, then the time on DVR will be 2000-1-1, the password is 000000,user:admin.now you can login the local dvr, change the password you want, then change the time."

Try 000000 (zereos) as the password and admin as the user. I think that's it after a reset.

Foggy picture when IR is turned on

I had the same looking problem. It was caused by mounting my cameras to close to an overhang that was above and in front of the camera. Couldn't see the overhang in the camera image but was surprised how much IR reflection into the cameras I got from the darkly painted wood overhangs at night. When I moved one camera lower during the night, the image cleared up 100% no more IR reflection. Hope this helps.
  8. Shopping online for some reasonable priced decent quality IR illuminators and came across one model; IR1800 - 18 Power IR LED Night Indoor/Outdoor Long Range 400-500ft IR Illuminator, sold by yytrade dot net. I'm looking into because it seems to be physically on the small size but with great IR output. Sent the company an email asking for exact dimensions. Does anyone have experience with this particular unit? I need to reach out about a good 100 to 130 feet minimum with the IR for my Effio-P cameras. Was going to buy one of the 114 or 140 IR Led units from ebay but am looking for something a little smaller and with more output but without breaking the bank. Any input would be greatly appreciated about this IR light and or the company selling it or other sources for decent high output IR lights at reasonable cost. Thanks for any info you're willing to share.
