  1. They also haven't released the Auto Tracking PTZ with the AR15/AK47 mount yet either.
  2. Go to Costco get a Q-See and try it out for a couple weeks without hard mounting. If it does not meet your expectations, return it! That is what I did, I got a Q-See kit with a QT528 1 TB hard drive, 8 520 TVL CMOS cameras just last month. I noticed that the glass fogged up after 2 nights, some residue must have burned off the LED's, I unscrewed the glass and cleaned them and they were fine. I then had 2 cameras fail, one buzzing and one no LEDs for night vision. I did an online RMA with no problem, they paid for return shipping. If the lighting in the room or outside is within normal levels the picture is very much acceptable, if it goes to night or overly hazy and bright the pictures go off a bit. For an Ice Cream shop I think you will be happy with a basic 4 camera system. No, it is not HD but should be acceptable. I am keeping mine, I have just received my camera replacements from Q-See and got everything working great.
  3. Well I had what I though would be a great.place for it but the way they dud the insulatiin there means I need ti get a longer snake. Just hooked it up temporarilly to see how the camera are aimed. So far so good, just a minor adjustment on two of them. Got 4 more cameras to go and then the DVR in its final location.
  4. I am trying to think of a good place to put the dvr to my home surveillance system. Although it is accessable via the web and all I would like to have it near a monitor but I was thinking the last thing I need it for it to be taken. Just currious where you guys put the DVR?
  5. I have a Toshiba and it has something called Regza Link on it. With my TV off, if I turn on my DVD player the TV comes on automatically and tunes the the appropriate HDMI feed. If you could somehow tie the alarm switch on the DVR to kick in that or on a different TV maybe a scripted IR sequence that could essentially do what you are asking I would imagine
  6. Does that not make them liable for damages? When you have someone REMOVE a security surveillance system and then someone gets hurt would make you liable for damages doesn't it?

    Need advice on camera placement

Why not far tree facing house, intruders tend to keep a look out at the road.

Facial recognition, what is the real deal?

I don't have it on my video surveillance system but I do have it on my photos database program called PMB. I can select a photo of say, my wife and thumbnails of her from all other photos on my hard drive are previewed. If I take a picture of someone who is already catagorized, recgnized and labeled will pop in there. Sunglasses or a hat can fool it easily. Check out D.O.T.S, I put a post with a link on it here on this forum/
  9. Have you guys seen this? Wow, probably good money setting up a system like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hGJLWZZp6g

    Hall Camera

Not sure how much detail you need but have you seen the new panasonic intelligent PTZ? very cool stuff out there now.
  11. sorry forgot to answer, I saw a schematic to it, is just a normally open connection that closes those two contacts, you could hook it up to a buzzer with a battery in series to alert you audibly upon motion I suppose.
  12. nice, thanks for sharing
  13. I ordered the QT528 with the 8 520 tvl CMOS cameras
