    help on GeoVision PTZ setup

Can you post a screen shot of your setup screen.... could be a few things 1) Verify the com port for your GV-Net card is correct. 2) Verify the dip switches on the new camera match that of the old, if not maybe its using a different protocol? 3) You DID click the activate button in your ptz setup screen right? If its not checked, the settings won't matter. You can save settings for multiple cameras and only activate some of them (we do it a lot in testing). 4) Make sure the RS485 wires are correct. Positve and negative do matter. Question, are there any OTHER PTZ cameras hooked up over the same 485 wires (same gv-net card). I've found that you cannot use two different protocols on the same gv-net card (for example im using lilin and everfocus ptz cameras, i had to get another gv-net device) SOme screen shots would help me, im more of a hands on person.

    Workaround for Geovision underhanded tactics.

From what I know you can't combine an older card with a new card. Running dual cards is only supported in the new 8.xxx software... so it won't work

CenterV2 - How To Turn Off Log

Okay little update. We ended up trying a 2nd video card and i made a dummy vga adapter. I took an extra DVI - VGA adapter, insert somed resistors in the right spots and it tricked windows into thinking i have a 2nd display. So that'll do for us. Wish there was a free solution, as a video card for each is $30, resistors are peanuts.

CenterV2 - How To Turn Off Log

So I have a client whos got 30 monitors going up. I might have mentioned this a while ago but its happening. Now... we're monitoring i'd say 20+ off-site locations. We're using Center V2 to do this so that they are not streaming every camera 24/7, only if motion is detected does it pop-up... the issue we're having is we don't like the 6 camera display in center v2, not enough cameras sometimes (most systems have a dozen cameras)... we can do 15 but the cameras are small... what we'd really like to do is the 9 camera view, but thats only an option if you FLOAT the log... welll our issue is 1) Each system has a single display running Center V2 2) We prefer to run at 1024x768 as it keeps things clean/big 3) Switching to 1280x1024 i think gave us the FLOATING option, but agian we'd have to hide it and what not and it wasnt realy a great way to do it So is there a way/hack to get the log to STOP showing up on the bottom, we don't care to see it at all (we actually have a dedicated computer running center v2 pro with dual displays showing the log on one screen and cameras on another)... let me know... heres a photo for those curious as to how far we've gotten along so far (and to our vendor: now you know what all those cards were for, heh)

Anyone built a Geo DVR with a MicroATX Slim case?

I didnt really read a lot, seems this is talking about pc specs... but back to the original posters comment... is anybody using small cases? I have no problem using proper hardware/etc.. but right now im using a mid-tower case (about 16" heigh by 7" wide by like 16" deep) and for some clients, its just a big too big. I love em because of the airflow, but id really like another solution. Some clients have racks and im using 4U racks... do the geovision cards fit in a 3U case? If so thats one option to go by... what kind of "smaller" cases that have adequate airflow/good power supplies do some of you guys use? Im using one of the antec cases (from newegg, comes with a power supply its about $95)

    Understanding GV Recording

Well theres a lot of dealers on here im sure. I'm a dealer, i buy from a local distributor... i don't really wanna tell you "buy from me" as im not setup really for that type of thing, we normally just sell entire DVR's. I can sell you a card however, but your best bet... look online, which im sure you have... obviously... but uhhh not sure about any "dealer locators" they may have or anything...

    New iPhone/iPad web app

I prefer the iPhone app, even though their new PTZ change SUCKS... but my hats off to you for making an app that actually works in firefox/iPhone... im guessing jpeg streaming? I have a guy at my office whos actually playing with an interface using jpeg streaming right now.
  9. Anybody else in the same boat and as frustrated as me... I'm building myself a dual 16 channel 1120 card system for my office. And i've tried two different motherboards now and both times i've had issues... First Issue: The first motherboard I tried, well the PCI Express slots were closest to the CPU.. so when i installed the 1120 cards, the things hovered over 2 of my memory spots with the molex connections (power) plugged in... meaning i could only use the last 2 memory spots. Second Issue: Tried a different motherboard since i had other issues with the first, well the pci express slots are moved away from the memory, great... i couldnt install two pci express x16 video cards (running dual video cards also) so i went with 1 pci express x16 and one PCI.. okay that worked... but now the 1120 cards were hovering over my SATA connections... and i had 4 drives to plug in... now i made it work in the second case, i had to basically bend the board out of the way, which was fine... its a pci express so there was only a little bit holding it in and the back of the board moved around easily... but still, what a real pain. Anybody else a bit annoyed at how GeoVIsion designed the 1120 boards, with the power being at the BOTTOM of them... they would fit fine in my scenarios HAD the power been on the TOP... grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Problems with GV-1120-16 (PCI Express) Cards

Dual fans going in, 1 fan going out (can always add another). Runs fine so far.

Problems with GV-1120-16 (PCI Express) Cards

Our distributor came through, recommended a board (thanks sal i know you scope these boards) and it seems to work so far. I have it running right now and so far it hasnt crashed. No cameras yet. The 1120 will be good. We usually do dual 800-16 cards using a core2 duo processor... we're using a quad in our dvr with 4gb ram so its double what we normally use also..should be fine. Its an office so not much movement, few outside cameras. I think we have 6 PTZ's though going in. Heres a photo of our DVR... its really maxed out. We have 2 1120 cards, a gv-net card, a gv-loop card (hopefully it works we had issues once before with it but its all i have), 2 video cards, 4 channels of audio (we only need 4 channels although we know we can do more)

Problems with GV-1120-16 (PCI Express) Cards

The 1120s are 16 channel... sooo we have 32 channels, lol. We chose to build it with dual video cards because we are doing hte following: Card #1 (VGA) goes to my boss's TV Card #1 (HDMI) goes to my TV GeoVision Card #1 (Component) goes to my boss's 2nd TV GeoVision Card #2 (Component) goes to my boss's 3rd TV (he has 1 large TV for 32 channels then 2 smaller TVs each for 16 channels) Card #2 (VGA) goes to a KVM installed in our rack, for regular maintenance Card #2 (HDMI) goes to an HDMI splitter which splits to our conference room as well as the front reception desk

Problems with GV-1120-16 (PCI Express) Cards

Yes PCI Express video card... my distributor suggested an Asus board so im going to try that in my office, and if it works i'll use it for the client

    What motherboard are you using?

Problems with GV-1120-16 (PCI Express) Cards

Have you had any problems with the pci express cards? My distributor tells me they are not selling the PCI version anymore? I have two systems now that freeze (ones a dual 1120 and one uses a single 1120).. So far out of every system ive used an 1120 with, they all have failed. (pci express version anyway, pci never had an issue with)

GeoVision Web Server - No Card?

Is it possible to run some type of GeoVision server without a card??? Heres what im trying to do.. I have a client with about 20+ locations. Right now we have them login to the main DVR and from there it picks up auth server and eMap and they can look at maps and connect to the other systems... but what happens is when we take this system down for maintenance, nobody can log into the other locations. So i was hoping theres some software that lets me run a server so i can have the clients connect to this non-geovision card system which then looks at the other dvr's. This way im not relying on one dvr always being up for them to look at the others.

GeoVision Web Server - No Card?

We do that. But we want people to be able to just go into the web interface to do what they want. This way we don't have to hold their hand to install activex programs/etc...we send them a few tiles for the Windows directory which contains the address books, thats it.

GeoVision Web Server - No Card?

Not exactly... I want visitors to be able to log into a web interface and then be able to see the different DVR systems. Right now they log into the main DVR system to get to the web interface, then when that loads they can change servers within webcam/etc.. But if that DVR is off, they can't login to the others (they don't know the IP addresses of the others, they rely on logging into the first one to get to webcam). So i was hoping i could run some kind of web server (that has no DVR card) which will look like the geovision interface and all that jaz.

    Problem with 1120 Card

SO im having a problem with a freezing DVR using an 1120 PCI Express card... Im using a GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3L (http://www.biz.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128380) motherboard. And i've used these in every DVR I build, well lately anyway. They work great. But I've had some issues with 1120 cards (Pci express version i should say). Now I can't use the 1st and 2nd PCI Express slots because of the memory slots and the poor design by GeoVision (the cards too long). I can't use the 3rd slot either because my video card has a massive heatsink that just hovers over it. So im forced to use the 4th PCI Express slot... and when geovision attempts to load, it usually freezes. Or it will load and eventually freeze. Any thoughts? I used this same motherboard in a dual setup and it worked fine (however i used a different video card which allowed me to use the 3rd and 4th PCI Express slots). Is it because im in the 4th PCI Express slot?

    RemotePassClient.exe Issue

So heres my scenario... I have a 32 Channel DVR (Dual 800-16 cards) running. This DVR (along with DVR's throughout the town for my client) all talk to CenterV2 which is running on a seperate (dedicated) computer. This dedicated computer runs CenterV2 and Authentication Server. Recently we've been having some weird issues. While the DVR is up and recording, we'll try and access the eMap (either from a remote computer or from the CenterV2/Auth Server computer) and a pop-up saying RemotePassClient.exe crashed shows up on the DVR. The eMap won't show up till we end this task. Also... if that error doesnt show up, the eMap will seem to appear frozen on the laptop/center v2 computer, UNTIL we end the task manually on the DVR. Once we use task manager and end the task, eMap works. Anybody have experience with this? We're running 8.3.1

Loop Through Cards - IDE Cables?

Anybody know where I can buy more of those IDE-style cables the loop through cards use? My standard IDE cables have 1 pin blocked with a piece of plastic, so naturally they will not fit in a Loop Through card

Geovision 8.3.3 released - 64 bit support claimed

I may need to do this for my new office DVR. We're using dual 1120-16 cards so naturally id like to put more then 4GB in. We're already running a quad-core processor.

Geovision 8.3.3 released - 64 bit support claimed

Im more interested in W7. As I put 8.3.1 (or was it 8.3.2 i forget) on a W7 box, and once in a while, when im going through menus, i get a "crash" error, ignore it and it works, but still that error bugs me. Ive been dowloading it since about 4-5pm now. Yeah its pretty big and their server is slow. Im assuming its at USA Systems offices.

Did they give you a link for it? I see new PTZ's supported, which I need... theres a client of mine who has PTZs that were not in the last version...
