  1. Update, noticed problem on the 4 Nuvico bullets got way worse while coincidentally I was pre-wiring a guest house on the same property. No issues on the PTZ 12vdc units (case must be insulated from electronics) and 1 LTS dome(insulated on top of 4x4x2 plastic box). So I disconnected all 4 dual voltage Nuvico bullets and did try separate power supply--no help. I finally screwed the base to the lid of the 4x4x2 j-box (I should have done this at the beginning) and all issues disappeared Since it was a horse barn, the ugly gray j-box was no big deal, however getting some sort of good looking insulator under the camera could be difficult for those residential jobs.
  2. I will give all these suggestions a try. I appreciate the help. One more, I noticed on ICrealtime Dvrs they have a gain check box under "encode"--> "color" settings checked and a value of 50. However on that GEN IV DCX DVR the box wasn't checked. After I checked it and moved it to 100 for some GE eyeball cameras, the picture looked way better streaming. What does gain do? Is it amplifying the video signal or something else?
  3. So I just join this forum, but have been doing this stuff 20+ years, and lo and behold the bad guy picks my house. Not too bright, he didn't notice the cameras. This was a H264 machine doing 360x240. I'm now going to replace it with a GEN IV DCX unit, D1 @ 30fps. I put it on youtube under shakingmann. zqyi019-IBc The police ID'd the guy and had his girlfriend confirm it. He was a one man crime spree. http://www.sanluisobispo.com/2012/01/05/1895329/pismo-beach-car-burglary.html Happy New Year!!
  4. So let me get this straight, I change my resolution to lowest and this will make it comparable to other brands. So this will not affect the other outputs: VGA and HDMI? It sure seems that it would. It seems odd to me, I have never had to deal with this issue before. Well, on to other customer requests/issues. They keep wanting playback via IPad and Iphone similar to Digital Watchdog. Just today the customer asked me how to playback video on his Iphone. I said I'll look into it. Does anyone know if Dahua is working on this? It would be great to know. The Digital Watchdog free VMAX app plays back video on the VMAX 480 units, the search function is very easy to use. You can download it and try the demo site they provide to test it. I'm just trying to use the Dahua brand, due to price points and the remote streaming seems to work better than Dig Watchdog.
  5. Cameras are fine, this is a apples to apples comparison. Confirmed on multiple jobs, the only difference is the DVR. Streaming, HDMI and VGA are crystal clear.
  6. I would recommend getting the right camera for the job, I usually don't tell a customer that it will "kinda" work. The Bosch REG-X has done the job for us many times, however it costs some money. Bolide has one that could do the trick for close to 400-500 US dollars at a internet shop near you. http://www.bolideco.com/productinfo.aspx?ProductID=BC2035-HQDNVLIR Just a random google search: http://www.securitystoreusa.com/Bolide-BC2035-HQDNVLIR-Vehicle-License-Plate-Cam-p/bc2035-hqdnvlir.htm
  7. I just used 12 of those Nuvico HD39NL bullets on a couple of recent jobs. Picture quality was nice, however the mount is kind of PIA with all the allen screws and even after tightening each one very tight it still may move a little. The HLC masking works very well. If you need a white camera that blends in, or looks like a light this is the unit. I actually like these better, it is my FAVORITE bullet : dual voltage, test monitor port, one allen screw adjustment and the camera mounts to a separate base plate--easier to put up with one person. Picture quality is amazing, the LED's are powerful. However it only comes in dark bronze. Prodigy PD-IRB620-211
  8. This is one of those Nuvico bullet cameras from 4 or 5 years ago, very large with a crappy ball mount. I had LED Christmas lights, 2 CFL bulbs (equivalent to 75 watt) and a large street light in front of my house.
  9. Answered my own question about hidden files on WIN 7. Control panel-->(change category to small icons)-->Folder options-->Click View--> then click "show all hidden files"--> then click apply.
  10. Thanks for the help, however I can't seem to get to that local app file on my Win 7 64 machine. I can get to the Users/ user location, it has a lock symbol on it and only displays general items, no app data to be found. However when I checked read only it changed it and then it showed all the files in a window being changed (which included app data files) So if I turn off UAC and reload PSS it will put all files in the proper place and the ICrealtime logo will go away? One other question, with the single view tool that you have made using SDK, could you embed it in a audio touch panel such as RTI or crestron? It seems doable, the new RTI processors are network based. I love that single view, I already have used at jobs where they only need 1 or 2 cameras streaming for a cashier on her desktop. I did some more reading and found this article on UAC, something to be learned everyday: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/how-to-disable-virtualstore-in-windows-7/55dce284-0dcd-46af-892e-d2b9cf5bcff6 I found these tools from the guy in the bottom of the post. 11. Before I get way out of hand, I just found this site a while back(fantastic), perusing it and Rory's site (awesome BTW) for as much knowledge on the Dahua based DVR's. My company has been installing these for about 6 months and the company ICrealtime does not help as much as I wish. I usually try to figure things out myself. I tried to remove the log out screen by following the "Dahua PSS Tips" on Rory's site and have had some difficulty. I would like to be able to click the X to close the program without having to put in password or even hit ok in the logout box(using windows 7 64 bit). I opened the file and deleted password but get denied. So I copied it to desktop, modified it then pasted it back in data file with different name, deleted original and made the modified one have the same name. Close program and the installer puts it all back to normal. It even keeps the ICrealtime logo on the version that I downloaded from Rory's site, where does it hide this info?. How the heck do I solve this? And what the heck is UAC? Hopefully I don't sound too dense for asking all these questions.
  12. I make it easy for you .. all Dahua software is categorized on my site, all hosted on this side of the globe also. even some software they dont have listed on their site Thanks for the link. It seems that you have spent a lot of time on your site. I have tried the "Dahua Simple View" software on the ICrealtime DVR's (Flex and Max) that we have started to deploy and it works great, it could be the method for those older or technically challenged customers for basic viewing. One question about the iDMSS for i phone, it did not work...the message in the screen said not supported. Is there a free app for ICrealtime that works?, they charge $30 for each license. Funny thing about ICrealtime is that they indicate they are the manufacturer and that there is no other options for info on their product.
  13. First time poster. I figure since this scenario is very close to the job we just did, I'll post in this thread. 16 chan ICrealtime Max Dvr is located in a large metal structure used for storage of cars and has 7 cameras with no ground loop issues, the remaining 9 cameras are located in a horse barn (all metal) located 300 feet away using 3 Cat 6 cables plugged into 4 channel passive balun units. Power supply at remote structure is a 12vdc 18 channel power supply. Using test monitor at DVR, connecting only to the bnc outputs on the balun unit, there is no issues. Once connected to DVR, there is black hum bars moving up the screen. Installing ground loop isolators on these 9 cameras at the DVR eliminate most of the issues. However there is still wavy picture quality on some of the cameras. No interference from PTZ control and all PTZ functions work great. I temporarily used a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter on the DVR and Power supply to see if that helped. It did a little. I do know that this horse barn is powered off the main house electrical panel and the "Car" Barn is off a separate transformer from the main street power. The question is what should I do? The cameras in the horse barn are 4 12vdc PTZ's and 4 dual voltage Nuvico bullets and one remaining 12vdc ir dome. Should I screw some wood to the metal behind each camera and mount them to that to isolate them from the structure? Or maybe take an extra cat 5 run between the location and twist all wires together and ground it to the power supply can and the DVR? Or ditch the 18 chan power supply and use separate plug in transformers for each camera? These metal building jobs are making my hair gray. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
