  1. The few Everfocus DVR's I've used use Java applets for web browsing, but it wasn't that great (did not allow you to save or export easily from the web browser), and the installed software was for Windows.

    Cyberdome wiring diagram

I don't know the pinout, I've never traced them. That connector fits into a slot in the housing, and I've never seen anything for making a custom connection. You could try GE tech support, or check local dealers to see if you can get a housing.

    This is hilarious!

  6. I have seen the Panasonic series of encoders and decoders. What I'm wondering if anyone knows of a single input encoder of the same type? Ideally, a single channel encoder available to send to a multiple output decoder? Thanks

    Motion JPEG vs MPEG-4

As I recall him saying, each jpeg frame was a complete image, while compressed video only updated the changes in the image, and didn't record the full image every frame. That was why he was saying that. He also had video that showed another DVR mess up doing it's compression and leave half a car in the road after it drove by.

    Motion JPEG vs MPEG-4

Actually, I heard a salesman trying to sell us a Dedicated Micros DVR say they only used Jpegs because the compressed video wasn't admissable in court. Might be just a sales tactic, cause I've only heard that once. Could they mean some countries don't allow it?

    jpeg2000 8 channel DVR

JPEG200 Looks like this one we get from Connectors Plus, the usualy password is to press menu, then enter. If you call connectors plus, their tech guy might know a way in if you're locked out.
  11. How about this: Go to someplace like Target, or Best Buy, and look for the portable DVD player section. I have seen some add on monitors that are in the size range you're looking for about the price you want. I don't know about the flush mount part, but they are quite thin and might be a good substitute. And they have composite inputs usually. Just a thought

  13. Found this on another forum, has anyone heard about this? I assume he's on the up and up, but I thought DM still used part of the primary drive for the OS? If this has changed, was it after a certain time?

    Field Monitor/Tester

I just got one from the office yesterday, and I'm the official test guinea pig. So far, it seems pretty cool. It is a bit bulky for a meter, but it's a great size for a viewfinder. The veiwfinder feature works no matter what mode the system is in. If you have a camera hooked up and you're in the multimeter mode, it will still show the picture. It also puts whatever you see on the little screen out of the video out, so you can watch your meter on a monitor (don't know what good either of those will do, but it's neat!). The batteries seem slow to charge (the ones that come with it). I had it plugged in for 12-14 hours the first night, and the batteries were barely charged (YES the switch is in the correct position). I haven't tried the ptz protocol tester yet, nor have I had much chance to test the meter functions, and at $600 I'm still too cautious with it to treat it like my little meter. It came with leads, a short bnc cable, car charger, plug in charger, UTP end terminator, neckstap and batteries. It doesn't come with any kind of padded carry case, which is my next mission. If it works as well as it claims, it will replace a normal meter, a viewfinder, and a spare joystick or two that I carry to test ptz with at the camera pole. We'll have to see

  19. I'm looking for info on the little devices that are supposed to go in line with an IP camera, and have a relay that will trigger if it doesn't see traffic from the device for a minute or so. Any help would be appreciated.

    Looking for info

Yes, the watchdog. That's what I was looking for. Thanks!
  21. Ok, for a temporary trial, can you switch the reader ports? Take the wires from port A and put them on port B? To see if the problem stays with the reader or with the port it's hooked to. I'm sorry I don't recall, did you try re-running the wire? Also, does this particular system have the ability to operate without contact with the server? Could it be that the panel is losing comm with the server and denying because it can't access the database? That's probably a longshot, but you mention nothing in the log at all. That leads me to think there's a short in the wire somewhere.
  22. For a pc based system, you ought to be able to crack open the case and disconnect the power button. It won't stop the determined, but it will fool the foolish for a minute. Adding a hidden camera sounds like a good idea as well. It might not even need to be permanent, just long enough to find out who's doing it.

    testing voltage

You mean the current draw of the device? No problem. Make sure your meter can measure amperage. If you're not sure what the current draw will be, start with the highest possible setting (some meters go up to 10 Amps), because if it overloads the amp meter there is usually a tiny fuse inside that will be a pain to replace. Remove the power positive from the device, connect incoming power positive to the red lead. Connect the black lead (common) to the positive terminal of the device. A better idea might be to measure the current at the power supply, because that will include the current needed to push through the wire length, not just at the device itself.
