Policeman ‘chased himself’ for 20 minutes while looking for
cctvmann replied to Numb-nuts's topic in General Digital Discussion
I just thought it was amusing, I didn't analyze the story in detail, why do you think they are telling pork pies then, ( for those of you who aren't in the UK pork pies is ****ney rhyming slang for "Lies") ? The press have be known to lie before, but it is feasible I suppose. ho ho ho no i dont think they are telling porky pies i just think the operator must have been slightly stoopid not to realise it was the same person as who was talking on the radio. -
Policeman ‘chased himself’ for 20 minutes while looking for

surely it would have been obvious over the radio and the locations of the police officer that the operator would have realised sooner. i mean police officer says ''charlie tango 64 progressing down entry and at the same time the operator sees the police man walking/running down the side entry at that same time, or is it me? -
i could well be that the memory is none volatile memory meaning it stores the information even after shutdown and power removeable, unlike volatile memory where by it looses everything contained. are the manufactures still going in china do you know?

did you leave the battery on the main pcb out for atleast 30 minutes?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dedicated-Micros-Sprite-2-DVR-/260945515529?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item3cc1909409 dont know if this dvrs any good for your system, i have a dm but with cdwriter combined, (ds2a) and its the best kit around imho. this sort of kit is used in council cctv and schools etc, and if your ptz's can be controlled thru pelco rs485 P or pelco coaxitron/ bbv/ plus various other rs485 protocols you can use the joystick to not only setup the dm dvr but playbaclk, fastforward and rewind, and also control the ptz's. very useful on the net to. and if you get it and need help setting up on network for remote view, let me know, youll need a static ip tho for remote connection.

just out of interest a) how old is it? and b) what motor name does it have on the side/bottom etc, whos it manufactured by?
-
just realised the dome wants a clean will get upto do all the cams this weekend.
-
bear in mind this isnt taken direct direct from the dvr/dedicated micros but from the network connection side so travels thru our network system instead of from cd/disk, some quality will have been lost during uploading

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CCTV-Hi-Speed-PTZ-Mini-Dome-Samsung-10x-Security-Camera-/260573712198?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item3cab674f46 this is the speed dom,e i have on both the front and back of the house, its a very good camera both day and night. as the 2 picture stills show, this is taken through the network so bear that in mind please 1 last thing to say is the camera has a removable ir cut filter that allows infra red lighting of 840nw to be used i know this works as ive tried ity and ordered some lights for the driveway and the back garden. for the price dont think you can beat the quality, the cameras been in use since early last year and is even going down well with our local police force. they are very impressed with it from what ive heard on the grapevine!

in fairness it was a suggestion, i work on the cctv in a local school to me during the holidays etc, and have had to run in 280 mewtres per cable of rg59 from 1 building to another from one end to another and i did it in a few hours with just myself and another chap to help me, the secret is communication between your work force and also allowing to get slack where you need it when you need it. it can be done, but id run a cat 5 per camera so not a multi core cat 5, but seperate one to allw for future expansion. hope that helps,
-
id probably go the following route.: building 6 contains dvr, run cat5 high grade copper type (not the cheaper variety) to each building top allow the cameras a pair each with spares in each building x 2 so thats 5 cat 5's to buildings 1 2 3 4 5 and then coak from each cat 5 in each building (on baluns in a ceiling void) to each camera, then a psu near the cat 5 balun to run 2 core flex to each camera. building 7 8 9 10 run cat 5s to each building from the building 6 and then terminate into baluns above ceilings/cupboards along with a psu by each balun and again run 2 core flex to each camera, and a pair of the cat 5 use for the cctv video. in building 6 dont bother with cat5 to the 2 cameras just put rg59 from those to the dvr direct and then from the baluns for each cat5 into building 6 take rg59 to the dvrs aswell. as far as i can tell. there should be 22 cameras in total. which should mean either 2 x 16 channel dvrs or a 16 and 9 channel dvr.

whats wrong with that ptz, looks ok for another 10 years life in it yet
-
sounds like the hdd isnt pulling in, and this could be due to the psu dropping out. have you got another pcu you could try?
-
So just the Cat5e wiring can supply BOTH power and video? What is a "baluns"? What are some sites that sell the CCTV products at good prices? heres my advice on the sytstem. dvr go for dedicated micros as they have been around a long time, if you want me to get hold of a good unit 16 channel with cdrw that is refurbed with new hdd fans etc then pm me i can get them at a lot lower than a brand new unit but with new insdides, dm equipment is things the police and councils would use. cameras id go for genie 5351 cameras domes that are vandal proof. these are 12 v dc units and work to excellent quality, they start around £150 from memory just look for that model number on the internet.http://www.cctvshopper.co.uk/viewproduct.asp?pid=6384 cabling, id stick with the rg59 option, although it doesnt easily allow ip use i think personal experience shows the coax version is a better system, for most cctv, me personally i prefer working with coax as there is no baluns needed for each camera and looks i think a tidier install. power if you have cameras local to each other try and group them so that you could run some locally to the cameras from the power supply on floor 1, and locally to psu on floor 2 and then any remander on floor 3, dont run all you power to a central location unless this location is very short distance wise. and run it in either 2 core flat flex or alarm cable and tripple the pairs to each camera, this reduces the chances of power losses on the camera end. if you have a psu near to the outdoor cameras, put a dedicated circuit in for the cctv power supplied as this will stop any accidental outage to the cctv if maintenance is done to the sockets/lights/fire/alarm syems, dont be tempted to run it all from a plug top as this will undoubtedly get unplugged and forgotten about unless hidden in the roof void. the outdoor cameras, this type of camera dome has something called mechananical ir cut filter, this means that the ir filter is removed when the camera changes to b/w night time mode, it means if you put ir lamps by the side to illuminate the area under cctv view the area would look lit through the infrared light seen by the camera but not human eyes. its a way of allowing the camera to become sensitive to ir light. http://www.cctvshopper.co.uk/viewproduct.asp?pid=6436 ir lighting IR Lighting is not visble to the human/naked eye, it is what some people call covert light, which means that cmaera ir capable can see the light emitted but the naked eye cannot sense the emitted light due to the fact ir is outside of our normal light spectrum vision. http://www.cctvshopper.co.uk/viewproduct.asp?pid=6397 PTZs cameras / Speed domes outside of properties can be viewed with speed domes or ptz domes/cameras, which allows the cctv user to view any area with in the range of the camera but also means less cameras outside may not be needed, especially if pir sensors where used with the ptz to turn it to the pir protected area, the other advantage of ptzs over statics is they can be focussed in on the area of interest in more details to some extent than what a static can be and gives greater detail to the picture quality. http://www.cctvshopper.co.uk/viewproduct.asp?pid=6400 the companies ive posted the info on under no circumstances is a recommendation to use they are purley for info purposes i have never used this company in the past and work for myself so not anything to do with that company, they were one of the first on the google list. lastly
