  1. I'm trying to setup port forwarding for a CCTV DVR. I have read the manual on both the DVR and Router and watched many youtube videos, I'm still confused on how to make it work. I want to set this up manually. I've done all the basic stuff already, like finding an empty IP address for the DVR to use, etc. My issue is what exactly do I put into the router. Under the Asus router port forwarding tab I have the following choices to enter data: service name port range local IP local port protocol example; DVR; 7333, 192.168.1.122, 80, both Please give examples in above format. On some videos it showed adding several lines to the above for one DVR, is this normal for modern equipment? Like a line for a TCP number, another for an UDP number, etc. Same as the above example, except changing the port range. I found different answers to this, if port forwarding is set up correctly, what IP address do I put on the browser to access the DVR over the internet? Some say my public IP, others say internal DVR IP, which is it?

    Port forwarding confusion

Could it be because I'm tethering a data line from a cell phone to a laptop? Cell phones do some sort of filtering so the port won't pass through the phone? Should I be able to view the DVR on a cell phone browser? Yes I know there are apps for that, I haven't read about one that works, yet. I still rather view the DVR via laptop, larger screen.

    Port forwarding confusion

I assume you meant enter both lines, this didn't work. I'm so lost on the port forwarding thing, I have tried many variations and nothing works. Is this really possible, anyone successful at port forwarding?

    Port forwarding confusion

Thanks for your input. The issue is all instructions I see on the web doesn't match what I can enter into my router or named differently. Asus router, port forwarding tab. DVR ports, what do I put where? What IP address do I put on the browser to access the DVR over the internet? Some say my public IP, others say internal DVR IP, which is it?
  5. I just found on my Dahua IP camera that there is two embedded accounts that the manufacture installed. If I port forward this camera, someone else will have full access to my camera and a backdoor to my PC. This is BS. I can't delete them, they are password protected. Take a look to see what you have under "account". You should only see your created account. The PSS software that came with this camera wouldn't work, won't even let me enter IP data or anything. I believe this only loaded a virus. My computer has been running slower ever since I installed/uninstalled this program. You should check your camera from any manufacture for added accounts and personally I wouldn't use their DNS server.

    Manufactures are PC hacking us

Sounds like you have an affiliation with this enterprise.
  7. I got my first wired IP 2 mega pixel Duhua camera but am disappointed that it doesn't stream well even in 720 mode (pauses). Is this common in mega pixel cameras? I'm using an Asus HD router. I'm also having issues with IE browser, it will work with 8 but not 11. 11 won't install the support file.
  8. I just got this HD camera and it's claimed a day/night cam and assumed it could see IR. Am I missing some sort of setting?
  9. I don't trust ispy, I found a virus in their program. Before that videos ran real slow/choppy with simple setups. Ispy is not a good choice to check videos for full speeds. Need a real basic player like VLC. So you don't know how to setup VLC to stream?
  10. The only part I understand on the rtsp path in the VLC examples is 8080 which it the port. rtsp://server.example.org:8080/test.sdp I'm really lost, I don't understand the VLC wiki info I've been finding, can you fill in fake example what would go into the "server.example.org" space. What does the destination need to path to the run video on the VLC player? One can't download smart pss program from Duhua website.
  11. pss program should at least allow me to enter connect data into highlighted fields, it won't even show any typing. Where is "smart" pss? Destination VLC asks for a port and path, what does it need? I want the destination to be the VLC player. I got my capture card to work on the VLC player. I tried to send to file, VLC doesn't like my input path and I used the http example. Internet explorer browser is being retired this year, what are people going to for IP cameras?
  12. The pss doesn't work, it won't even let me enter an IP address or anything. VLC says can't open source. But I don't know how to use VLC in this manner. What destination do I use? etc
  13. Ok, excuse the one digit, it's 850nm, says this on the spec sheet. It turned out to be a setting like I thought. For the lurkers; camera>conditions>conditions>day&night>'type' has to be set on 'mechanical' to see IR. Exposure on shutter priority and 1/4 really makes it bright in low light, no IR conditions, but huge delays. Don't leave it there for daytime. While I didn't time it, it seems to take 10 seconds to see a setting change. I haven't been able to record anything on this unit on a SD or PC, no clue why. Won't run on IE 11 but runs on 8, but does crash. Don't install the software that comes with it, it looks to be only a front to load a virus, the program won't let you set up any info to make it run or be useful.
  14. Does it have a cut filter? I don't hear one and low light conditions work well. Am I the only one that owns one of these?
  15. The specs on the IR are indeed 840nm and I have a 250'+ IR range on this same camera in total darkness. The Duhua can't see the 840nm from this camera, it shows the area pitch black. While the 250' range camera it looks like daylight in total darkness. I have to assume the Duhua needs a setting change. The IR the Duhua does see is the china cheapo IR that is not installed on any camera and I have no clue on the specs. The 840nm illuminator is pointed at a tan wall about 15' away, the Duhua is 5 feet away pointed at the same wall, the Duhua can't see the wall.
  16. Duhua SD42212Sn-HN it's an IP cam, I got one in a globe because I have allot of wind/dust and use motion detection. Also wanted remote IR for lamination because of bugs. While the low light vision is impressive, there is no light here during new/no moons. I tried day/night and turning on "IR Correction" no difference. I found the IR LED nm rating has something to do with it. This Duhua cam can't see 840nm IR's. It can see those cheap china ebay 36 LED bullet cam IR's, I can't find the nm rating. There is shutter speed setting and such, I tried a couple but it didn't seem to matter at all. I'm sure I'm missing something. Or more to the point I don't know what I'm setting.
  17. I've had it with the China crap so I'm looking to upgrade, the largest issue is it's not clear what cams are reliable and won't lighten the wallet too much. I'm looking for a HD, IP, PTZ with some optical zoom, smaller the better (miniature best), under $500 if possible.
  18. There isn't always a correlation between price and quality. The bottom line is to come to this forum and ask what is actually working well.
  19. Opps, I didn't realize good cams come from China. I just get so sick of shopping and research. I did start looking at Dahua, specs are good and you say they last? Looks like some on eBay are selling clones. Are these cams controlled via PC or do I need a controller or do they come with a controller?
  20. So have I, Foscam, which wasn't fully functional new and picture turned purple only after a couple of hours of run time and months later getting blurry. It won't adjust out the purple (had to go B/W) and the lens is clean.
  21. IQeye IP cam, Internet Explorer web viewer. When taking a snapshot or video clip the normal popup for where to save the file comes up, save file and when going to the location, nothing is there. I made a new folder with the webviewer, save file in new folder and folder and photo is not there. New folder and photos show up if saving another photo within the webviewer. Where are my pictures going? Why is my folder/pictures invisible to Windows?

    Lens is a dirt magnet

I have one of those CNB monalisa dome cameras and the dome is a dust magnet, the view is obstructed in an hour or two. Is there some cleaner that will 'demagnetize' the dome.

    Lens is a dirt magnet

You got me thinking about antistatic sprays, so I looked on the web for homemade. Found a tablespoon of fabric softer in a cup a water works like a champ.
  24. I have an IR PTZ camera the gets knocked around pretty good from winds because of the location. It needs a dome, however it's an IR camera. Is there a windowless dome housing on the market that can be used with pan and tilt?

    IQeye LED sequence

I just got a 501 and it won't connect to the network. If anyone has a 500 series what LED sequence do you get? Mine the LED blinks green once, then red for a few seconds, flashes green four times, turns red for a second then led goes off.
