    AnalogHD? Q-See System

I understand (I have 6 hik 3MP bulllets) But it doesn't appear I can convince him to spend more unfortunately. I can only assume these comparisons are about what he'd be looking at. It's still an upgrade from the 960h samsung he was wanting to install. 6COuQYqJEPc r5aaI7cU6Tk WrRd98R8Isk
  2. Hey guys, Here is a quick clip of what I'm talking about. It's like every second the screen flashes or the contrast changes as if it's having to adapt. Heres the video. DFFdVsaHrYo
  3. Well thanks for the explanation. Guess I don't have choice but to deal with it.
  4. Sorry I guess it's not a "Flash" In full screen mode on youtube you can see what I'm talking about and the flag has no affect. Pull the flag, the solor light and its the same. It's like the contrast of the image changes every second and repeats. I'll try to get another sample tonight but if you look in fullscreen, maybe towards the top of the image it's easier to see though I see it on the entire image.

why not hide DVR or NVR in attic??

In the process of selling my house. But the next one I buy, Reinforced residential entry doors. Then on my office, it too will have a reinforced door and frame in aiding to defend access to the dvr, computer, safe etc... It's all about Layers, the cctv only does so much.
  6. So I finally got rid of Xprotect Go and decided to Purchase Blue Iris, with their new release of BlueIris 4. Here is my first export using motion detection while having a package delivered. Does it look alright? With the super bright sun and shadows I'm happy with the overall image. Blue Iris 4 Hikvision 3mp 4mm bullet. (1 of 7)
  7. alright thanks. Yeah, I'm happy. Just a year ago these cams were 200-250 and now their 80 bucks usd. It's pretty crazy.
  8. Yeah. I've had that cam in those vids for probably a year or maybe even longer. Does it seem to be under performing or am I being too picky.
  9. Here's an export from today. Completely cloudy outside at about 32* outside. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23fWX0Ym4d8&feature=youtu.be I'm running 5 Hikvision 3MP bullets, all at 3MP 10FPS except a couple at 15fps. (Still have my 6th to put up) and BI4 is saying It's at 50% cpu usage which is backed up by my desktop widget showing the same thing. If the camsstart recording it jumps to about 70%.... Is this a little high? or about normal... I'm running a custom desktop that I built. I7 with 6gb ram, graphics card is 1gb, and I have 3 harddrives but BlueIris has it's own 2TB...
  10. ah I must have missed that, I put 5 thinking 5 seconds but I'll change that. Thanks for the info!!!
  11. lol, I did a pretrigger of 5 seconds but It doesn't seem to recording the time before the trigger. I'll double check it and report back.
  12. Awesome, I'll adjust the pretrigger

    DS-2CE16C2N-IT3 hikvision opinions?

Not sure your budget or anything but I just added 2 hikvision ds-2cd2032-i 3MP IP Bullets for $80 each brand new bringing me up to 7 now. Their $120 brand new on amazon, under 100 other places, and $89 somewhere else, I can pm you. (Dont think I'm allowed to link) personally if you have nvr capabilities I'd go that route. (I'm just using my desktop as the nvr) I know that doesn't answer your question, but until someone comes in and chimes in....

    Anybody here install dashboard cameras?

I think I PMED one of you by mistake... lol I meant to put it here: As you'll see from that forum ( Where I'm a member ) the best value is the G1WH... At $41 shipped I have one in My Wifes car, Mine and I bought my father one after he expressed interest.
  15. Their Software is now $60 got BlueIris Full version
  16. I downloaded BlueIris4 for trial a little bit ago and I'm probably going to purchase it tonight. So far I like it more than I did Xprotectgo though Xprotect did have a nicer looking display and software its not about being pretty.
  17. I had to uninstall Xprotect Go and in the process of installing their new 2014 software ( I had 13' ) I'm getting this error message. I thought for the free version I wouldn't need this but I'm downloading it from Microsoft anyway (the 2012 version, not the newest 2014 version because it didn't ask for it.) It's a 5GB download... Just making sure this is the issue I'm having and that I have to download this 12' sql since I didn't before.... I wouldn't mind upgrading to their paid software, But the only price I could find was $50 for each camera, and I don't need it THAT bad. I've seen BlueIris, but wasn't sure if the software was as nice as this, considering it's free. And I don't have more than 8 cameras, and I don't need more than 5 days of video so it fits.
  18. ALRIGHT! I was able to setup the Asus AC68u, and also FINALLY gain access to the Zyxel Managed switch that has been giving me issues this whole time. The IP address on the Zyxel switch was the same as the router, I changed it and the issues I've been having are gone. Now going to try setting up the system again and see if I can get the port forwarding working.
  19. I'm so tired of not being able to get milestone mobile to work that I'm considering buying Blue iris even though I like the desktop version of xprotect go. I'm having a horrid time with the IP addresses, servers and ports etc.... I'm probably going to look for someone who I can just pay to get it working for me. I didn't think I could be this ignorant with networking because I've always been the go to guy in my family and group of friends for this kind of stuff but I've read the pdf's from milestone, and online help and just can't get it all to come together it's killing me... Anyone here want to help for paypal funds? Thanks I've started from scratch twice uninstalling and reinstalling and no luck.
  20. Bought an Asus AC1900 Dual band gigabit router so this weekend I plan on trying to see if the router was the issue.
  21. I figured I'd ask and see what you guys thought, and what you guys are using. I've tracked down an issue to my wireless router being the cause of some port forwarding problems I've been having. Today it's also been dropping wireless traffic and even forwarding traffic to my computer. So, I'm going to get a new router, I was told to get a Asus AC2400 but I'm not spending $300 on a wireless router. I just can't. I can spend about $150. I want wireless, I also want something decent. My current home is 2,600 sq ft and my next (Mines on the market) will be between 2,000 and 2,900 sq ft so I need a decent wireless signal as well. So I found the ASUS (RT-AC68U) Wireless-AC1900 Dual-Band Gigabit Router Its $180, for the black model.... Yet on the same page for the White Model it's only $150, For $30 I don't care if it's white.... http://www.amazon.com/RT-AC68U-Wireless-AC1900-Dual-Band-Gigabit-Router/dp/B00FB45SI4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1419201218&sr=8-3&keywords=Asus+Wireless+router Is that overkill? I will have (Like I do now) Charter 60mbps Coming into the home, then it will throw out wireless, as well as connect the 8 Chan. POE Switch for the cameras and my computer. I see the Asus AC1750 is $120, But I assume the one above is worth the $30 price difference right? http://www.amazon.com/802-11ac-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC1750-Gigabit-RT-AC66R/dp/B00IEG4H1K/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1419201218&sr=8-7&keywords=Asus+Wireless+router

Routers, About to buy a new one.

well, I bought it so... yup.
  23. Will do thanks, I'm trying to gain access to the switch as It's not wanting to play nice and bring me to the log in screen. From what I've read it does have the same IP address as the Router which would be causing some issues. I'll unplug it from upstairs and run it into my computer bypassing the router tomm so I can change the settings and see if this will fix the issues. I'm on shift today so can't, and I had a busy weekend. Just that time of the year. I fully appreciate the help thus far and am glad having narrowed it down to two possible issues. I'll update this tomm and see where I'm at. Does it matter what I change it to? as long as it's not the same as the wireless router (1.1) then I should be good to go.
  24. I had a member log in and he def helped and was able to get everything on the right track. But I had to leave to pick up my mother in law from the airport so it ended there. He fixed that, so the ports are being forwarded correctly but I think we ran into an issue of the ports not opening. So one of 2 issues, 1. My router is old and just won't forward the ports. 2. My Zyxel 2layer secure managed POE Switch in my attic has the same ip as my router and is causing issues. 2a. When I have my poe switch plugged in and try to access my router it tries logging into the poe switch and is trouble 2b. But when I unplug my poe switch and try to access my router via the same ip it goes directly to the routers Linksys log in page and works perfectly. So it might be that the poe switch for some reason has the same ip and is causing issues there. I'll have to figure out how to reset it and log into it to make sure it isnt... This will have to wait until saturday as I start my regular 24hr shift in 6 hours. So I'll get off work saturday morning. I really appreciate the help thus far, hopefully we can knock our the kinks this weekend. If anything, I'm sure I need a new router anyhow since I bought a cheap wireless from walmart 3 yrs ago, its a linksys e1200.
  25. Yes, he is. If you want 16 Cameras, you need a 16 channel NVR.... Normally, a 16 Channel NVR will only have 8 POE Ports.... Channels = Cameras POE Port = 1 single Powered Port for 1 Single camera. This POE port does both power, and video feed. Let's run an example. 16 Channel NVR, with 8 POE Ports You'll be able to connect 8 Cameras to that 16 Channel NVR, and then you'll have to have an addition 8 Port POE switch for the rest of the cameras. In addition to the 8POE ports on the NVR, there will be an additional Port, (Not POE) for a cable that goes to a poe switch. Hopefully that helps. understand this is only if you buy a 16channel Nvr that only has 8 poe. They offer them in 16 poe too. But Understand that in addition to the POE ports, you'll have an additional port that goes to the router (LAN)(LAN=Local Area Network) Also known as the Router.... And your poe switch goes to the router too. *Even If I bought a NVR with POE Ports I wouldnt use them. Because that is that many wires to run through the walls. If I use a POE switch in the attic, I only have to run one single cable to the router, and then one from the router to the NVR LAN. If you do a nvr with 8 poe ports, you'll have 9 wires coming through the wall or whereever. Your 8 poe cameras and then the 1 from the poe switch. Remember the poe switch doesn't go to the nvr, it goes to the router. A quick google turned up this perfect photo diagram. For just a second we'll take it a step further. Say you wanted a SUPER DUPER 64 Channel (64 camera) setup. It would work the same exact way, Each POE Switch would go to one single router, where your NVR will connect to as well.. Here is another photo diagram for that...
