    Christmas Tree's / Holiday Decor

     

    Let's see em!

    I don't have all of my outside lights up yet, but I'll take a photo once I do.

     

    Got this 9ft used bare tree this year for free from mother-in-law. Wouldn't fit in her house after her old job closed and gave stuff out.

     

    A trip to walmart, 600 LEDs in 150ft strand and box's of ornaments/garland and it's all decorated.

     

    Wife did all the decor, I don't bother. lol

    So the tv, I got BlackFriday of 2012, 60" vizio led walmart deal at 688. Once I put it up I wanted the 70 Only because it would have fit. lol Sams had the 70" for like 999 last year.

    Alright thanks.

     

    I chose the 4mm since I need the most coverage I can get with my first few.

    The street is only 30ft from my door so I think it will be great for front yard coverage.

    Even side/driveway coverage the 4mm should work great. I'll move it around to different locations to see what is needed. I'm excited to have finally pulled the trigger.

    It only took a full year. Lol

     

    Its the china versions so does that mean all the menus will be in Chinese.

    You are absolutely not allowed to install cctv, alarms etc.... Even if you do not monitor them or if they are not monitored.

    There is a specific license needed to install any/all of CCTV, Alarms etc...

    Your computer license does not cover this.

    Also know in order to obtain the license, you have to provide proof you worked for a licensed alarm installer for 5 Years.

     

    You have to have 5 years of work proof before they allow you to test for the license.

     

    Only reason I haven't started a CCTV business.

    Nice videos.

     

    Check your state laws. Where I live, the city owns 3ft from the road anyway. Anything place within

    3ft of the road (Trash) is no longer your property and can be gone through by the public.

    I found this out when a neighbor cut up wood nicely, put at curb and when I picked some of it

    up for a bon fire in the yard he flipped and called the cops. He was put in his place.

    For what it is, and it's cost it seems pretty nice.

     

    I do like the idea of having a unit under the dash or in the car somewhere with a small

    tiny camera mounted near the mirror.

     

    If this was the idea, why could you not do one on the rear of the car also?

    It would be worth running a 2nd wire feed through the headliner or somewhere to the back of the car so you had footage of the front and back of the car.

    As my title states you can guess my career.

     

    Thought I'd share my ride. I'm a "Truckie" and this is my ride as of last year; It replaced my old truck which was

    sent to another station.

     

    Just something kind of random I thought you guys might enjoy.

     

    FYI, My job (and my crew on the truck) is to do a First Primary Search. We go in with no hoseline (water) and search the house for you before the engine company enters with the hose line to fight the fire. Both can be going on at the same time. Along with primary search, we also do "truckie work" meaning Utilities (cutting off power, water etc....)

    we note 2nd floor windows and places a firefighter in trouble can jump out of and set ladders. (Just in case)

    We will also get on the roof and cut a hole in the roof to allow the fire to vent a certain way we want it.

    We are also the main guys who work vehicle accidents. Using the jaws of life and other tools to cut you out of your car.

    Search/rescue, etc....

     

    Also, A Fire Truck has a ladder on top. A Fire Engine has no ladder... A Engine Company sole purpose is to fight fire.

     

    The Blue LED Rop light that runs along the ladder helps me to see the ladder rungs in smoke so I don't fall through at 100ft up....

    A video of the truck. Love that damn thing. lol One huge tool box is the easiest way to describe it.

    It's a dual purpose, it can fight fire if needed and has a 2,000 Gallon Per Minute pump installed.

    I use it (Essential version) and love it. It's easy to use and has every feature I need. It's also one of the few software versions out there that support HTTPS. They offer a trial version so I would give it a try.

     

     

    Hello all;

     

    Interested to hear if anybody used this software and what your opinions are?

     

     

    I see the X-Protect go supports 8 cameras. How does the software do with the cpu? Low % used or is it on the higher end.

    I should have added this to my post....

     

    When I said settings etc... I was including varifocal lens and everything.

    a 2MP IP Camera with a 12MM lens vs a 700tvl camera with a 12mm lens and similar Settings, Features and performance etc....

    the mp will win. Please remember, I'm talking about cameras that are similar in settings, Features etc...

    All Other things aside, it does come down to the 2mp ip better resolution. ALL other things aside.

     

    I am by far not comparing a costco hikvision to a low light box camera with a 12mm lens used for a specific zone. I would put my money on the analog in that case of course!!

     

    I think that was kind of lost in my post. I agree 100% shockwave, those kits from costco are FAR

    from anything past a simple overall kit. If the OP wan'ts the custom setup, specific cameras with specific lenses and other stuff, you can forget a box nvr for the "most" part. Custom Setup with PC software is the best option.

     

    Back to the analog though, Any camera/mix works all together.... Could more simple could it get!

     

    Sorry to have stirred up the pot.

     

    Look forward to the OP posting about what he got, the install and pics/videos.

    I know your not looking for bigbox kits. But, Have you considered the 8 Chan 2MP IP 1080P system from costco? Comes with the NVR, 8 Cameras, Wires etc... with the solid warranty, 3 years.

     

    There are a few reasons why I would look at it, the largest being the extended 3 year warranty included.

    Any issues? Just take it back, or trade it for another one.

     

    Yeah Analog is still an option, But there is an undisputed fact that is the reason people are moving to MP IP.

    Simply, More Pixels under the same conditions with similar settings etc... means a better chance at ID.

    It's not "The best, gotta have it etc..." It just seems to provide a good "Value"

    I'm not going to argue IP Vs Analog... Ive only had analog. It's been beat to death.

    Shockwave, you seem to spend most of your posts aggressively defending analog.

    Nothing against it by any means but

    it almost seems like your trying to deter people away from ip mp.

     

    Though I know you're just trying to help newbies understand and not get sucked into the

    "gotta have this" stuff...

     

    But the Hikvisions sets are looking pretty good in terms of lower end value.

     

    Back on topic, you would have to trench the asphalt, Is that something you're highly against?

    Need to ask yourself, if it would provide the best location then it might be worth it.

    Depending on the distance, What about digging and laying some conduit in the ground around the driveway around to the shed? If it's under 100ft to the cam including all the way around the driveway then it might be an option.

    Seriously the Hikvisions appear to be the best value option right now for that price range.

     

    Canon dslrs and other cameras like the go pro aren't used for surveillance for a reason. Long term reliability.

    Their built for a couple of minutes of great quality videos, repeated over and over.

    A solid 24/7 recording I wouldn't expect the cameras to be able to handle this for long term.

    Not to mention their not built for that.... The engineers were not thinking about using them in that manner, which is why their not sold/marketed in that manner.

     

    Worth a shot though, Would love to see someone try it and report back.

    With a baby in the house more than ever I'm sure you want to secure the home.

     

    I suggest reinforcing the entry points. Doors #1.

     

    Basically a thin steel frame inside the door frame.... With Holes cut out for the locks.

    Sorry I'm confused, But clear me up.

     

    It records 5MP, but only displays 1080P? or only records 1080P?

     

    Do you have to pull the file from the nvr to a computer to view the 5MP video/image?

    That is pretty good, Being able to have 1 or 2 Higher mp cams, then the rest 1080P.

     

    Does anyone know a TV or monitor that can display 2592 x 1944 ? The reason for a 5mp camera is for higher detail

    when you need to zoom into something.

     

    Yes, I understand that, but I seriously must be stupid because I was under the assumption you can't record 5MP inside of 1080P, Since 5MP is a higher resolution ( Correct? ) then recording 1080P doesn't give you the full 5MP.

     

    Seriously, I'm sure I'm wrong. I'm just trying to learn, and for some reason I'm being thrown off...

     

    Are you saying it's always 1080P, but because it's higher MP when you zoom in, there are the extra pixels allowing for the better detail once you zoom in?
