Looking for a very sensitive IP camera

You would need to install a vision system to look for defects which can be done but since there are so many different vehicles with different body styles, colors and existing damage it would be very difficult. Cognex cameras are one type of camera that can detect defects, etc but only under perfect lighting and a fixed distance from the camera.

Has anyone tried system like this?

Here is a couple cameras with a wireless bridge and IR illuminators to monitor a parking lot entrance at a local college campus. Not sure of the mfg but this may help your install. The antenna cables are a little sloppy but otherwise it looks pretty good.
  3. Im looking at the Q-See Elite series of equipment. Does anyone have any experience or comments on this equipment?

How can I get an image to a monitor

I have used the Startech ST121UTP which includes a transmitter and receiver and sends the VGA signal via cat5e cable. I have several in use with no issues.

    DVR restarts by itself

Have you checked to make sure the "auto maintain" feature is not enabled? This is a feature on Dahua and rebranded Dahua NVRs.

    New Install queries

Nathan, If you want to stay cheap and have the system only as a deterrent why don't you install dummy cameras? Personally I would either go all the way and install a good system (as much as my budget can allow) or nothing at all. What do you do if they see the cheap cameras up there and decide to break in anyway? Just some things to consider.
  8. Boom, ive been workimg with the vendor you mentioned for a couple years and have had a very good experience. I have purchased several 16ch NVRs and cameras. Their support has been great and when i had purchased a 4ch POE NVR that didnt work how i wanted it (which was how it was designed), they took it back and sent me a different model. I would definitely contact them for help.

    Choosing a monitor

You can also use a VGA monitor like the StarTech ST121UTPEP which extends a VGA monitor via cat5 cable. I'm using one of these going about 200ft and the pictpicture quality is the same as if it was connected locally. They have other models if you need a monitor duplicator such as a local and remote monitor.

    Securitycameraking.com? Any opinions?

I haven't purchased any of their dvr/nvrs but have purchased 9 of their 1.3MP IP cameras to add onto my Dahua NVR. The cams have a 3.6mm lens and are being used in manufacturing environment. They have been installed for a few weeks with no issues.

POE Switch for 12 IP cams

A Netgear FS728TP 24 port POE switch (192W total) is a nice model which gives you 8W per port if using all 24. I've used this at work and its a good unit.

    Hello from Fort Worth, TX

Hello from Texas! I've been reading a lot on the forum over the past year. After testing an analog system (and thankfully not installing it) and have finally decided on 1.3MP Dahua bullets with their 16ch NVR.
  13. They do have direct burial and cables with UV protection. In Texas the UV and intense heat will make regular cables brittle very quickly.
  14. Nice...very professional. Are you 12?
  15. Rather then bickering like some old ladies in church, how about using a test subject to see if there are any areas that may not be as clear as some people think it should be.
  16. The shutter speed (default) is auto. I haven't had a chance to play with the settings. The ambient lighting is only streetlights in the front of the house down the street. The shot on the side of the fence has a 3 head LED fixture (11w each head).
  17. Dahua DH-IPC-HFW2100N (1.3MP, CMOS, 6mm fixed lens) night shots. Again, comments are appreciated
  18. I'm testing out a Dahua DH-IPC-HFW2100N (1.3MP, CMOS, 6mm fixed lens) to see if it will work well in a residential application. All settings factory default. Day photos are below. First time posting photos this way so hopefully they will show up. Feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks!

More for the Installation Hall of Shame

Another great installation at a local school in North Texas. Someone must have found the box of seal-tite and decided that was "good enough"!
  20. Why isn't it a good thing to have that control?
  21. If you order the Dahua 3216 NVR you have full control of the resolution and framerate. I just received that info tonight since I was comparing the two models and was confused.

    Is Q-See Equipment any good?

I also forgot to ask if images of people in the camera field of view are good enough for identification or not.

    Is Q-See Equipment any good?

Thanks Secerator for your comments. I was most concerned about the image quality and DVR reliability. Although you have had some issues I may purchase the 536 system from Costco. Thanks again!
