  1. Hey guys. I thought this would be fun and help me get to know you guys better. So I have had CCTV for a few years. This is what I caught on tape: 1: Hot tub repair guy taking a leak in my driveway. 2: Roofer backing his trailer into my BBQ, and denying it 3: Punk rummaging thru my workshop for 10 minutes!! (no arrest made) 4: 3 drunk kids taking a short cut thru my back yard and loosing a shoe in my garden. Lol 5: A truck circling my street before stealing my neighbors tractor. 6: A punk stealing change out of my car. I'm sure there's more but these are the ones that come to mind. Cheers. Chris
  2. I just upgraded my dvr to a 8 channel Digimerge DH230. These are windows 7 touch screen compatible. What aspect ratio is best for my DVR? Thanks.
  3. Hey guys. I hope that someone can help me out on this. I have a small system with different brands of cameras. The best camera I own is a Clinton CE-VF54IR (#3 in this picture) It is mounted on the back of my shop. On the front of my shop is a $60 no name camera (#1 in this picture) This pic was taken at dusk with no extra light sources. Any idea why the clinton is so dark? The ir's are all functioning. Thanks guys. chris
  4. My understanding was that they were uploaded and saved on a hosting site. Is that correct? Or can you also have them saved to a local HDD ?
  5. Ok cool. I figured it out. I was doing some reading online and clearly the ip cams are the future. I see a problem at my place because I have 20mb download speeds but only 1mb upload. That could be a problem if I had a few ip cams and tried to use my Internet as well. Still, the high res of the ip cams is really cool. They are pricey but I'm sure that will come down as they gain market share over analogue.
  6. See, that's the thing I don't understand. I just picked up a new camera to try. 600tvl. I was so impressed with the picture that I got 4 more to replace my old cameras. I thought 600tvl was pretty high res but it's not is it? Are mega pixel cams the new thing? I don't know much about them. Thx

$60 cam out performing $200 cam? Pic

It's a varifocal. I played with the OSD and couldn't improve the night vision. I'm gonna send it back to see what they say.

$60 cam out performing $200 cam? Pic

It's outside and I have a 500watt halogen above it on a pir sensor. Works great when the light is triggered but I wanna see all the time. Btw, I picked up a control today at the dealer to access the settings. I also spoke to Clinton's tech support and they were very helpful. They seem to lean towards the settings but the camera is under warranty if that does not work out.

$60 cam out performing $200 cam? Pic

Thanks guys. I'm gonna try a couple things. I'm gonna take it to the dealer and ask them to do a factory reset. Just in case this was messed with and returned before I purchased it. If that doesn't work, I'm gonna use it in another location that has more light. I can't return for refund because it is past the warranty. I purchased it a while ago as a spare and it was not installed until recently.

$60 cam out performing $200 cam? Pic

Channel 4 is a crappy one too but I have 4 x 50watt halogen pot lights on in that pic. This is new to me. Wouldn't a cam with 42ir led's be considered a true night cam? I can't access the menu because I don't have the Clinton plug in remote. I don't know what it costs but I would buy it if you guys think it will make a difference.

FYI, I thought it could be the 12vdc power supply so I have switched over to 24v but nothing has changed.

    hi from Toronto

Hey guys. Chris from Toronto here. Not a professional, just a paranoid homeower/hobbiest. Like most members I lurked for a while before joining. Great forum. I hope Im not too much of a PITA. Cheers.
  15. Hey guys. I have had this DVR a couple years now. It has been flawless for me. It came with a 320G hard drive and I am at the point where I want to add more cameras. I currently only have 4. My plan is to upgrade the hard drive to something much bigger. The spec sheet says "Security Certified Hard Disk with up to 2TB of data storage". So my question is, are they saying I cannot use more than 2TB or that the unit is available for sale with up to 2TB? Thanks Chris
