Audio out of sync on export - Geovision V6.05.

Not sure if you've resolved this or not. I'm not knowledgeable with Geovision, bu ar you doing this in an AVI format? f so, AVI is notorious for not syncing well with audio. That's why most manufacturers recommend staying in their encrypted format. Not sure if this is your trouble?
  2. Anyone here familiar with the Intellex DVMS (not the Ultra, just the DVMS) and what the live display rate is? I know that it records 120 fps at 2CIF, but for the life of me I can't find anywhere online that tells me the live display (480, 120, etc...). And I don't have a unit nearby to check. TIA.

    Need some help

The guys before me have already posted some good information. You are certainly not looking at a small scale project. For 100+ cameras, make sure the dealer/integrator you will be dealing with comes with some references, because a project this scope is not for your everyday alarm installation company - things could go south awfully fast. Depending upon how you are going to view the cameras, how you intend to use them overall, will dictate a long as to how you want to set up your system. Good luck in your dealings.

Ademco AHDR 16 Channel DVR (Honeywell)

Just to make sure I understand the question, does the installer want to remove/replace the main HDD that has the operating software? Did they have a HDD failure?

Ademco AHDR 16 Channel DVR (Honeywell)

I got a meeting with some of he Honeywell Product Managers/developers this week. I'll be talking to them about some DVR stuff as it is. I'll run it by them. Offhand, I don't have the answer for you.

    2 monitors, 1 camera??

I agree with the VDA. They're cheap, at $30-50, and it will save you having to go back and fix a potential problem caused by a t-connector if it weakens the video. Might as well do it right the first time.
  7. Just a suggestion, but if the actual objective is to provide a safer environment for staff, in additon to the cameras (and I agree about mostly staying fixed on this one, as the motion tracking we've tried is decent, but not reliable outdoors), make sure that the equipment is highly visible with excellent signage warning any violators of the possible presence of cameras. Really, your lot is pretty small, and fenced, so you are likely going to get the best results from strongly advertising the presence of cameras to deter problems in the first place. Hope that they never really have to be tested. Of course, in a possible public place, you want to be careful about liability issues of advertising the implied "safety" from the presence of cameras. But I think we are all aware of those issues. Perhaps you are going down this avenue, but since it wasn't mentioned, I thought I'd post it.
  8. I have an issue where we have a number of PTZs on a site feeding into a DVR. At the site, they want control of the domes through the DVRs software (mostly for users over the network) and also through the joystick controller located at the site (for the guard/operator). First we thought simple enough. But then we realized that we'd actually never done both controls simultaneously before. It had been mostly using a joystick, and occassionally using just the software - but never both simultaneously. What we are finding appears to be a conflict of data (as if the 485 control is colliding) leading to erratic operation. When we have both a joystick and DVR connected to the 485, only the joystick works properly. The DVRs software is slow, sometimes fails to work, works in spurts, etc... But once we disconnect the joystick, the software control works perfect. Seems to stem from having multiple 485/422 controllers connected at once. We have tried this with i3, Vicon, and IDR/IDIS (Capture), using Pelco, Vicon, and i3 ptz domes. We have tried it with a matrix, and without. Single PTZ camera, and multiple cameras. Same results each time. We have talked to a couple of tech supports (I won't name names) and some of them have never experienced this. Nor heard of it. Talking to Vicon, they were the first to say that "No, it won't work" - you need a Dual Input Code Merger when using multiple control devices for ptz control (other than multiple joysticks through a matrix though). We are about to test this solution (naturally the dual input code mergers run in the $500 range), but the funny thing is that I can't find a single installer/tech that has had this same problem firsthand. After 15 years, this is our first run in with the problem, but I'm hoping someone else can shed some more light on the issue for me after seeing the same thing. TIA.

Is Everfocus ptz good quality camera ?

I agree. Often called Neverfocus. Though suitable for low budget projects. Just don't promise too much...
