What do i need for this camera?

    Negative. SectorSecurity is correct.
  2. If you do this and it still doesn't work, I suggest you try something that worked for me when i was having trouble updating my firmware. I was renaming the file update.bin but it already showed the file type as a .bin. So the NVR was not able to open it because it showed as update.bin.bin . The extra " .bin " was why i couldn't update .My VLC Media Player already detected it as a .bin file so I just named it " update " and the NVR was able to update. Hopefully this helps!
  3. Those images, inside and outside, are nice. I have been extremely satisfied with my 2MP Dahua domes (after some tweaking and a firmware upgrade). I think that, as a so called "budget brand", they are nice cameras. I think that buying them from a reputable seller is the key, as dealing directly with Dahua is not an option.
  4. Monty Python and the Holy Grail! I love that movie!
  5. The software version is 2.103, build 2012-7-24. I actually tested to see if moving it back to the outdoor setting would change anything, so i put it back and restarted the system. Once it came back on the picture was back to being way too bright! I moved it back to 60HZ and it was normal again. I'm not sure if it is just my system, but it definitely works better for me at that setting!
  6. I was finally able to fix the problem! This morning i decided i would get into the settings on the NVR and Web Service and manually move every single one till I found something that worked. In Web Service there was a setting called Anti-Flicker. It has three settings - outdoor, 50HZ, and 60HZ. It was set to outdoor by default, which made sense to me since the cameras are outdoors. Well, as soon as i changed it to 60HZ, the picture went back to normal! I am not sure why this fixed the problem, but it definitely worked for me! Hopefully if anyone is having a similar problem this will work for them as well.
  7. Thanks for the info, MaxIcon. I was able to see the exposure settings using Web Service but everything is already set on auto. I moved some of the settings but it did not seem to fix it. I'm really hoping that there is a setting that i missed that will fix this. I will check more of the available adjustments when i get back from work. Thanks again!
  8. Good morning! I have 4 Dahua IPC-HDB3200C dome cameras controlled by an Dahua ESDV-NVR-16, which i believe is a re-branded Dahua NVR3216. They looked great during the day, but at night I was using 2 100w bulbs on my driveway just to get a somewhat useable picture. The company I bought the equipment from helped me out by getting me the latest firmware for the cameras and NVR. This helped the picture at night, but now during the day the picture on 3 of the 4 cameras is sometimes so washed out that it almost looks pure white. I looked through all the settings on the NVR but couldn't find a way to adjust this. There are brightness, contrast, saturation, and gain adjustments, but it does not fix the problem. The settings for all four cameras are the same, and are on the same side of the house, but only 1 works properly during the day. I have not been able to find any exposure settings on the NVR. I am hoping that there is some other adjustments or tweaks that i am overlooking that would fix this problem. I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks!

Opinions on my choice for basic home ip system

Thanks for the info. I will post a review of the equipment once it's installed and i have a chance to test it out in different lighting conditions.
  10. Good evening. I am looking to install a camera system in my newly purchased home. My budget right now is $1500-$1800. I want to purchase a basic ip system that will last a few years until I am better situated financially and can afford a larger, more complex system later. I have decided on these components: 1 Dahua ESDV-NVR 4/8 Channel NVR Hi Def Network Video Recorder for IP camera 1 Netgear 8 Port Network Gigabit Switch With 4 Port POE and 4 Port Regular 4 Dahua ESIP-MP2-DM1 Hi Def 2 MP MegaPixel Outdoor Mini Dome IP Cameras The videos posted on YouTube comparing the CNB VCM-24VF to Dahua ESIP-MP2-DM1 show much better clarity with the Dahua, which is the main reason i want to go with an ip camera. I know that my options are extremely limited with my $1800 budget, but i would like some input, comments, or suggestions from more experienced users before i order this system. Thanks.

    HELLO EVERYONE

Just wanted to say hello to everyone here. I'm currently living in southwest Texas. I hope to learn more about surveillance systems in order to make an informed choice when i finally stop renting and buy a house. I have quite a few friends and co workers that have purchased cheaper, bundled systems from Costco, Sams, etc. with disappointing results. Hopefully i don't annoy anyone with stupid questions, but i am pretty new to this.
