  1. i have bought direct before, and costco on sale is about the same as direct. costco also provides much better service if you ever need service. Worth it in my books.
  2. i am using 1 logitech adapter for 1 camera the logitech poe/powerline adapters will work with any POE capable cameras that draw 7.5 watts or less. i do have cameras that are run from ethernet cable to a POE switch which is connected to my main switches. please keep in mind, that other cameras will require different setups for recording etc.
  3. my 2 cents, i used a 6 logitech camera setup for 2 years. it was very reliable ( for me atleast) no failures etc. I hardwired as possible, i only used 2 of the 4 POE over powerline adapters. Do you have access to an attic? or any access under the house? That would be a good place to start. The Logitech Alert system is decent, but for the price of a single alert camera, you can do MUCH MUCH better, just that you will have to figure a way to wire everything up. I have used hikvision 3mp cameras with the logitech POE adapters, it seems to work for atleast 2-3 cameras, Not sure on the limit on the powerline bandwidth the logitech adapters have.
  4. Was that with the PSIA fix or the recoded HIKVISION.conf file? PSIA works fine, i have 5.1 on a few of my cameras.
  5. actually i'm using PSIA as the mroek pointed out works well. with the coding, you have to redo it everytime you upgrade surveillance station.
  6. remove webcomponents plug in, so that it will download the new version.
  7. no access via sadp, tried powering off camera for extended amounts of time to no avail, looks like climbing the ladder when the snow melts.
  8. So one of my hikvision bullets failed a few weeks back, i believe it just has to do with pressing the reset button. Can anyone who has ever had to use the reset button state their procedure? I've read quite a few, but wanted to hear first hand from someone that has had to do it. Its been a few weeks and this weather is not making it easy for me to get up there to reset.
  9. SVC works with the IVMS software, reduces the stream size for live view atleast.
  10. basically it is hikvision vs dahua. brand and software preference.
  11. let us know when they stop working, your location suggests some very cold winters!
  12. yes they will work, you just have to manually change the PW on the cameras to match that of the LOREX, i believe lorex factory set PW is 00000 or something like that. someone correct me though, i haven't checked in a while.
  13. oh boy, have this mounted ~25 up on a ladder, corner of the house on the soffit. guess i'll have to go up there and radio a helper to power cycle.
  14. one of my bullets... has officially died. Can't access, can't find with sadp, tried to reset power to no avail. Maybe i need to get up there and hit the button on the damn camera any way to hard reset without pressing the button?
  15. So we had a few drops of snow up here in NY this morning, and motion detection was going off like you would not believe. Is there anyway to work around this?
  16. it was snowing, i'm not worried about storage space, i have about 16tb of raided storage dedicated to surveillance. Using camera side motion detection on hikvision, with synology software. But will eventually get around to some other software possibly. I use the lowest sensitivity possible, and the motion detection has worked pretty nicely.
  17. http://wrightwoodsurveillance.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_83 has slightly better prices, i've bought a few from them before.
  18. in ivms, goto remote configuration and using that menu, reset defaults to the camera
  19. probably not at costco or the wholesale clubs,
  20. need to port forward to the nvr also might be a good idea to prevent access to the modem from outside networks, should be a setting in there, so that you can pass through to the nvr, but not be able to edit the modem settings
  21. Hmm, HIK do not show 2 MP PTZ which I got today please share model number for us to google! nevermind found this http://www.hikvision.com/en/products.asp?cid=130307

    Hikvision

how about some info on what type of coverage you need, its very easy for someone to tell you get x of this camera, x of that camera, but unless you share your specific needs.... indoor or outdoor? if so what is each camera expected to cover, how big a area does each camera cover and how far does each need to look?
  23. Update complete... Firmware Version - V5.0.5 130925 Encoding Version - V4.0 build 130924 There might possibly be some new features but its hard to tell as what it has done is break most of the tabs in the config page. A lot of the tabs along the right hand side now have no name and the width is minimal. You can just about click them and guess which one they are supposed to be but some dont work......not too good Uninstall Webcomponents and let the new version install.
  24. So i have many hikvision oem cameras setup, but for some odd reason one of them, a swann varifocal bullet has since then crashed twice on me, i believe the last time was about a month ago, and just recently happened yesterday. i run nvr software with my synology surveillance station, but monitor i liveview with ivms software on my computer that runs 24/7. The same camera has crashed on me, no other cameras are affected, and they are usually atleast a month apart. Does anyone else have problems with hikvision cameras crashing? During a crash, i would lose connectivity to my camera and i would have to unplug/plug it back it to reboot it.
  25. man i hope it is not that case, i ran everything in wall and out a brick wall, wont be fun! luckily i am putting in a managed switch soon, and i should be able to just disable poe on the port to reboot it.
