Non Active X CCTV DVR support

familiarimbao1, or should I say sabrinakornel1, or is that ellatwo4 a request for a ban on your usernames has been put in place. Multiple accounts, spam, and posting junk is not a good way to keep your account(s).
  2. Why not just use a cheap external security light with PIR? They have a pir hanging under them, and come on when the PIR senses movement. Probably a lot more reliable than using dvr motion detection also.
  3. Visimetrics (based in Scotland) does a unit called the Visimetrics Fastar. I have one, quality is great, and it is mpeg2. 8 Channels, all full D1 real time recording 25fps (pal as Im in the UK, but I think its selectable., best check though) each channel with lip synced audio. Also has alarm inputs, outputs, spot monitor output, main monitor output, ethernet, serial etc. Rack mount server style unit, very nice. Afraid I dont know the price though, I picked up a bargain ages ago, but even if its pricey, its a solid unit with excellent picture quality. Their support is top notch also...

HELP GV-800 16 LOW FPS FOR 4 CAMERAS

Pal is only capable of 25 frames per second for one camera, NTSC is 30 frames per second max I believe.
  5. Not sure, it would depend on you being able to get the insurance companies and lawyers etc first to know about you, then to trust you. Then there would have to be enough work to make it a viable business. You would also need lots of experience, software and equipment, as you could be taking on jobs ranging from obsure timelapsed, and multiplexed video to a huge range of different dvrs. There could be damage to the dvr, so you would need to know how to extract the files from each one, or spares for repairing. Plus knowlegde of the different codecs etc if needed to play the files, and probably a load of equipment so you can play tapes recorded on different setups.

    Please help!

Moved the post to the DVR forum.
  7. Two wires, red and black? Im thinking those sound like the power wires.... Maybe the video cable fell off and is lying nearby in the false ceiling... What connections are on the back of the camera, what model of camera is it? What are the red and black wires connected to? Some cameras have in-built baluns, so you could use two wires instead of coax, but its not that common.

how can I access private CCTV without password?

You cant just go watching other peoples footage without permission. Unless your the government, or secret service etc... Dont try to do it without permission, if they are savvy and detect you trying, and its traced back to you then its possible you could get in trouble for trying to hack their system. If your friendly with the person, then just ask them if there is anyway you could watch it over the net, but I doubt it as you would be using up there bandwidth, and slowing down their connecction.

Looking to Setup Surveillance in Dive Bar

Geovision cards can be fussy about the motherboad type, they like intel chipsets - so if your planning on buying a pc, or using an existing one it would be a idea to check the system requirements listed on geovisions website to see if you have the right hardware first.

    gv-250 bnc

No pico software wont work with geovision cards. You can download the current software for geovision free of charge from the geovision website. Although, version 8.2 wont work with some older cards, but you should be able to email geovision and provide them with the model no of your card, and the serial number (should be on the box, or the card itself) and they should be able to give a download link for whatever software you need. http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/index.asp

    Customer not satisfied!

Are you familiar with geovision, have you altered any of the settings, or is it using the out of the box low res settings? Have you tried any troubleshooting at all? What does the pic look like, are you familiar with what is normal quality?

General IP cam question, 1480 question..

You can run all 16 cams at D1, all that will happen is reduced frame rate. Most things dont require 25fps (pal) or 30fps (ntsc), and if you set them to record on motion chances are not all of them will have motion at the same time - so frame rate will be better.

What Geovision management needs to know....

Cant say I have noticed much of a problem with dropdown menus, but I normally use control center and leave the main system alone most of the time. I agree the playback selection method could be made simpler, and that software should be nice and easy to use. Third, can you make the remote playback interface a little better add customers are not going to know what camera is what use the camera name NOT the number. What are you using as the remote playback interface? In control center you can have the camera name showing, also in the browser webcam interface you can select 'show camera name' also. Fourth , can you make the remote view browser interface a little better add a quad view to it. Instead of one or 2 or multi view and again add the camera name, is that really so hard. The multiview in the webcam interface has multiple options, including quad view. Press the setup button in it and you can have it display the camera name on each camera. Fifth, why is your customer service so awful it takes weeks to get an answer, a big company like geovision can't afford to put some people ( ok just one)that know what they’re talking about to answer customers questions. Not had to contact them much, but they have never taken more than a few days or so to respond so far.

    GV 8.3 Coming in February

A facility to add a quick 'note' to footage would be great, so you could search the video logs for notes of things that occured,
  18. Any data over mains is done using equipment/adapters designed specifically for that purpose. It has to be specifically designed to make sure the mains is not transferred into any of the equipment or it could catch fire/kill you or others. Under no circumstances should anyone ever try connecting any camera/balun or any other data / signal to the mains unless you are using equipment specifically designed and marketed for that purpose. As it wont work, and it could kill if you try to wire up normal signals to the mains wiring.
  19. I have just installed windows 7 beta (dual boot setup, xp and the new beta) and one of the first things I tried (after trying to install avg free which didnt work) was control center so I could view my cameras. The great news is it went through the install with no problems, and worked first time, It found the server using the search, and I added the cameras no problem. The cams are showing fine on the matrix screen, so its looking good! I have not tested it extensively, there may be issues, but first impressions are its fine so far!
  20. I have not used those cards, but I have bought stuff from hong kong and china before on ebay. To be honest, I am really, really struggling to remember something that I have bought from there that didnt turn out to either be counterfeit in some way or a pile of junk, or a pile of junk that didnt last long. I have had alarm equipment that didnt work as advertised, that was not the same model as in the auction, even the replacement they sent was junk to. I have had cams that were rubbish, a phone that went faulty on its first day, mp4 player that lasted about a week, PIC programmer board that came with pirated software, fake cctv cards or cards with pirated software so useless.. Anyway, those cards may be great, or then again, they may not be (I suspect not, but as I have never used them I dont know for sure) - so if you do take a chance and try them, please let us know how you got on!

    Hello from Scotland!

    Welcome to the forum.
  24. Thats what I have at the moment, you can see the gold coloured resistor bottom left.
  25. I read about the 40w/50w for internal/external online somewhere, in some specs (pretty much that was all they listed for the specs) and I had a resistor that would limit the current to under 50w, so I tried that. worked fine, but the resistor was not big enough (size wise, not resistance wise) to disapate the heat. Popped off to ebay to buy a big metal clad 50w resistor and bobs your uncle, worked fine. No overheating, either on the lamp, or the PSU. Back yard lit up as bright as needed (if not too bright!) so I didnt need to try higher current, I could probably go a bit higher, but its fine as it is. Will take a pic of the intside of the PSU so you can see what I have, and post it in the next few mins.
